its not bad for a distortion pedal. but really, when it comes to metal and distortion you should be using tubes not a pedal imo.and metal is certainly not dead.http://www.myspace.com/necrophagistdehttp://www.myspace.com/theredchordhttp://www.myspace.com/blackdahliamurderhttp://myspace.com/thefacelesshttp://www.myspace.com/betweentheburiedandmeband

But seriously though...I had the original Boss Heavy Metal pedal and it was the shit until it broke. Then I had some DOD pedal and a shady dude stoll it. Then I had a DOD corrosion pedal, but I have no idea where that fucker is because I'm a drummer and I just played guitar for a little bit while I lived in apartments. Now I'm back to playing guitar a little bit and Jack Johnson rulez!!!!#1

Granted, tubes and straight-up GAIN is the best for heavy, thickass distortion. But if you're like me and playing through a little 12" combo in your room, pedals are obviously gonna be your only option. I used to use the MT-2, but lately I've been using more of Digitech's Metal Master...I still switch back from time to time, I still have both pedals chained, but that one is a damn good distortion. It has a good range...that "morph" knob is money.
