i thought the movie was nice... not particularly funny, the painful humor just didn't seem to get beyond into the realm of funny...

yet, despite that, i'd probably watch it again... i wasn't really looking at it as a comedy and enjoyed it... my girlfriend however was cracking up at various times...

^^^Lemme clarify.. It wasn't too long.. but it was quite slow moving. I also felt it was quite repetitive at times (like the itinerary stuff). It could have been better since it had a very compelling story to tell in a unique setting.

Hahahaha. Seriously. There are 10 cats and 1 dog in my lobby right now

You can come and look at the animals without buying a ticket, though, if your gf is hurtin' for some kitties.

Loved it.

LOVED. IT.

So fucking charming, and the dynamic between the brothers was spot on from the first minute. I actually enjoyed the fact that it was less "Wes Anderson-y" than the other films...he didn't even use Futura Bold!

In other news, I like Hotel Chevalier more on the big screen because the first minute or so that Portman is on screen she does a ton of great, subtle face stuff that isn't really noticeable on my computer screen.

I know he used it, but he didn't use it in the typical fashion (AKA every fucking thing in the movie is Futura Bold).

Most of the stuff wasn't in english but the majority of what I saw that was in english was in Futura Bold.

I loved the movie and it makes me want to up and leave for India with my sisters. The soundtrack is amazing as well.

OMF @ Futura Bold.

That was the font Madstone used for all their materials. Wacky.

Add another LOVED IT.

I think I liked this more on first viewing than any other Wes Anderson film. For some reason they always hit me (hard) on the second viewing. Royal Tenenbaums is still my favorite (for now, at least), but this could very well be second.

agreed

I thought this movie was good... but sometimes I think Wes Anderson tries too hard to make smart movies

Finally saw it, and I really really liked it. The acting was top-notch, and there were several unexpected surprises. I love Wes Anderson's use of slow-motion

On a slightly negative note, did anyone else find the "baggage" metaphor at the end a bit heavy-handed?
