8/11/2007 12:05:41 PM
That hull needs some love. What products are you using?
8/11/2007 12:11:56 PM
the hull has gotten some love since that pic. i buffed it with 3m fiberglass restorer + wax. well, most of it. [Edited on August 11, 2007 at 12:34 PM. Reason : ok some of it]
8/11/2007 12:34:08 PM
I was actually going to suggest that very same shit. Good stuff. Doing it by hand or with a buffer?
8/11/2007 12:37:19 PM
on that heavy oxidized blue I used the buffer with a terry bonnet, but im going to pick up a couple wool ones for when i do the entire thing.
8/11/2007 4:47:38 PM
yea its the trophy seriesim lettin it go on craigslist for 4500. thats with a brand new trailer for it and allon here i would take $4000 and it would be out the door.im lookin to use the money to restore some carsbut hell make me an offer and i might take it.
8/11/2007 9:27:50 PM
took mine out again today, did great, id say that im about done with her break in period. but sometimes it stalls hot when switching foreward to reverse or vice versa- then wants to be a bitch to restart. i think i need install the double adjustable throttle linkage on it and work it out some more. the current linkage is only adjustable one way, cause i epoxied that sucker hahaha.
8/12/2007 8:18:16 PM
once again foolsmake me an offer and I may take it...boat may be in Raleigh this week if you wanna take a look at it but would want you to be serious about buyin it if thats the case.BO
8/12/2007 9:13:13 PM
after a few trips we seem to have mastered the art of unloading/loading at the boat ramp, even had to pwnt some newbs today. tried to teach jen how to drive the boat, but it freaks her out.
8/12/2007 10:58:22 PM
it was the same thing with my girlfriend and a jet skiwhen she was driving i think we hit 20 mph oncejust freaked her out
8/13/2007 11:51:54 AM
i been crossing fall lake twice a day for a week or so and its getting low as hell
8/16/2007 9:39:54 PM
ha, you haven't seen low... wait till all the stumps start appearing out of nowhere in the main channels. on the other hand, it's been so high i've launched a boat from the parking lot at bartons creek before (after one of the hurricanes).
8/16/2007 9:53:10 PM
now that i would like to see
8/16/2007 9:54:35 PM
Falls Lake anyone?
9/28/2007 1:52:59 PM
haha, idiots. that rock always gets someone when it's low, despite the buoys/signs.i'm assuming that's the one when you're coming out of barton's creek...?
9/28/2007 2:11:59 PM
There are actually no markers in this spot except for the boat that has been sitting in the mud for a few weeks. Are you talking about the rock off the point adjacent to the dam? I know it has ripped off a lot of propellers over the last few weeks.
9/28/2007 2:30:55 PM
ah yes drunk boat driving.
9/28/2007 2:37:59 PM
if that's mud, it's not the spot i'm thinking about. i know what rock you're talking about too by the dam, yeah it'll get people also.the place i'm talking about is right where the lake opens up a bit if you're coming out of the barton's creek ramp area, after you go through the S turn. there's a LARGE rock formation just under the surface, and you have to keep to the left or hug the bank on the right to miss it. just past it is where you can turn left to go under the hwy 98 bridge, or straight ahead is the coast guard training station and eventually winds you back around to the dam.falls is a scary place to ride when the water is low. too many rocks, stumps, etc. they didn't bother to bulldoze any of the area before flooding it.
9/28/2007 2:43:44 PM
I don't know too much about Falls, but I know the area you're talking about. I always stayed right in the middle of that S-Bend because I know it gets shallow really fast off all those points. I think it's best to just stay in the main lake right now. A lot of those coves that are normally 12'+ deep are running ~4' deep now. In 4' of water you can hit ground without ever seeing it coming.
9/28/2007 2:48:40 PM
at falls you can be in 20+ feet and hit a stump big enough to fuck shit upbut I am smart enough to know the lake is too low now, i ride past the upper bartons creek boat ramp every day and the docks getting shorter and shorter. i went out a few weeks ago and it was about 4 feet higher than now but still scared me a little.
9/28/2007 4:32:54 PM
we need another hurricane. dropping stuff off in the parking lot.
9/28/2007 5:59:21 PM
Pffft, lake boaters.
9/28/2007 7:17:48 PM
This thread makes me want to get a boat of my own. Anyone got $60k I can hold for a minute. Skack gots expensive tastes. Heading to the lake. See y'all Sunday. [Edited on September 28, 2007 at 8:24 PM. Reason : l]
9/28/2007 8:24:10 PM
Mine will operate in 8 inches of water and if it does get stuck you just get out and pick it up[Edited on September 29, 2007 at 12:33 AM. Reason : ,]
9/29/2007 12:32:24 AM
Lake Norman is the lowest right now I can remember in a long while...going to ride the standups in a little bit anyway.
9/29/2007 8:16:58 AM
yea i dont know what I would do if I didnt have gps on my fishfinder. I usually unload late afternoon then come back pitch black and play the video game of "follow the trail."

10/13/2007 6:47:48 PM
i'm going to be a lake pirate.
10/14/2007 12:43:19 AM
The raping should be pretty good there. Not so sure about the pillaging.

10/14/2007 6:52:25 PM
the boat is just off blue jay point, on the opposite side of the spot where you caught that fish that day brian.
10/14/2007 6:54:47 PM
yeah, i know. i saw it the other day when i was out there riding around. i'm just playing with google right now trying to figure out how to embed the image without using the link.
10/14/2007 6:57:29 PM
we went out there (on foot) this afternoon
10/14/2007 7:01:15 PM
honestly to go out on falls lake now you are better off with a lawnmower.
10/14/2007 8:23:24 PM
water is much lower than this now, you can easily walk to the boat from the bank I would say.
