it smells of desperation. i should think that the recipient would have thrown away the letter in disgust.

Really, every time I think about writing something nice to my bf

...I go and do some housework, or cook dinner, or do laundry, or handle something he's been nagging me to do.

It's a better use of my time, and it shows my appreciation much better than language, which is notorious for limiting emotional expression.
