I still would need to find one, plus I would want to save up a little bit more before getting one.

you can't really justify the cost of buying, insuring, and maintaining one simply for gas savings. unless you get a beater for a few hundred bucks or something. my first two bikes definitely payed for themselves in gas savings alone, but i only payed $50 and $300 respectively for them. i guess i could say my third (and last) one did also, but only because i traded a gas hog of a car for it.
6/25/2007 5:49:10 PM
if you do a cost analysis, riding a bike<riding a car, since you forgot to include the possibility of getting hurt in that equation. literally the gas cost and convenience are negligible compared to the major two variables. basically it comes out to (Fun factor) - (Possibility of getting hurt or killed)
6/25/2007 6:07:10 PM
that is probably the biggest thing holding me back. I haven't ever ridden a bike so I can't really decide on the fun factor. The get killed factor isn't that big in my mind.

6/25/2007 6:28:28 PM
oh I understand what could happen if/when I crash. When a close call does happen it will decently move up in my mind but doesn't really worry me. There are a few other things that have a similar risk factor and I understand and accept that.

He was too lazy to go through the normal drive-thruWhen fast food ain't fast enough
6/26/2007 9:01:27 PM
yo, give me some thoughts on motorcycle alarm systems plz
7/4/2007 12:19:28 PM
I don't have an alarm on my bike, but I would recommend a gorilla:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130130823630
7/4/2007 1:03:12 PM
bike alarms are retarded
7/5/2007 9:34:06 PM
I see what you did (are doing) there
7/5/2007 10:12:08 PM
even an immobilizer, no one hot wries ab ike, they scoop it up and throw it in the truck, and what do you do when you hear a car alarm? look out the window and call the cops? no
7/5/2007 10:14:18 PM
Oh, I don't see the need for one either. My bike weighs over 460 pounds dry, which is still quite difficult for two people to lift up and throw in a truck.Still, if I had a sub 400-lb. bike, I might consider it.
7/5/2007 10:17:44 PM
doesnt matter how heavy it is, its not hard to steal, two people can easily get my 660# FJR into a truck without a ramp
7/5/2007 10:21:13 PM
So I've never transported a motorcycle before... I've gotta take it about 100 miles.Think I can safely fit a Sv650 in a truck like this? http://www.interstateautoauction.com/catalog/images_video/images_donate/2001%20Chevy%20s10%20Xtreme%20C.JPGThat's not my truck, but I have an S10. Also, any tips on good rope/straps/whatever to secure it with?
7/6/2007 7:58:42 PM
yeah, it'll be fine. you probably won't be able to put the tailgate up, but that's not a problem as long as you strap it well.[Edited on July 6, 2007 at 8:20 PM. Reason : .]
7/6/2007 8:19:35 PM
get a bar end strap from cycle gear to give you a secure tiedown point, and dont use the cheap ass ratchet straps, use the cambuckle type, and make sure you compress the suspension while tightening them[Edited on July 8, 2007 at 1:35 PM. Reason : psi]
7/6/2007 10:14:13 PM
do you think i will need a wheel chock for the front wheel, or will 2 tight straps in the front and 2 in the back be enough?
7/7/2007 11:35:02 PM
Uh apparently there's an alarm with a beeper (hello 1993!) that alerts you as a motion sensor. I can see that being incredibly annoying with false alarms - but could be good if someone dropkicks your bike or takes it, etc. I mean, what else do you do? Just hope no one picks it up and takes it. This is a Ninja 250 we're talking about here. Not exactly heavy.

7/8/2007 9:01:07 PM
that's great, thanks alot!
7/9/2007 12:52:59 AM
Hey hey... just don't take your bike at a 120 mph on an onramp after 2 months of riding...
7/9/2007 10:08:29 AM
^^^ bar end straps are better because they keep the straps off the fairings, and give it more stability
7/9/2007 10:38:59 AM
