FUCK FUCK FUCKI was doing okay today until I got hit with the realization that if we hadn't won a few less games down the stretch that would have been us picking #1 or #2 next month.I dont know why this is just hitting me.God I hate this franchise sometimes
5/23/2007 4:58:03 PM
Boston and Memphis actually did sit stars in an effort to tank the end of the seasonAnd they werent rewardedIf we had tanked we'd probably have the 5th or 6th pickbtw it hit me last night once they called out the 8th pick [Edited on May 23, 2007 at 5:03 PM. Reason : .]
5/23/2007 5:02:59 PM
hey the bobcats aren't too far away from contending for a playoff spot and if they can fill a need and improve on their current roster with the help of a new coach this team could be a #7 or a #8 next year in the East. They were only seven games out of it this year and they showed they can beat some of the better teams in the league.I am not a huge bobcats fan but I do see a good upside for them
5/23/2007 5:13:43 PM
yeah, for what its worth, we had the best record ever for a 3rd year expansion teamhowever IIRC, the magic made the nba finals their 4th season?also its looking like Sam Vincent is gonna be the new coachhttp://www.charlotte.com/209/story/132793.htmlI like it though...he's young enough and freshly enough out of the league to know players, know how players are nowadays, and still know some of the coaches/refs...but he's smart enough and old enough to get their respect...also even though Dallas didnt have anything for Golden State, I love getting a Mavs assistant
5/23/2007 5:16:36 PM
magic made it in 6th season
5/23/2007 5:19:30 PM
ummm...ok. Sam Vincent. He coached the Nigerian national team. WOW
5/23/2007 5:20:45 PM
you probably shitted on sidney lowe before he came to state too"he's just an nba assistant coach"i think its a good fit for the Bobcats, especially since Sam Mitchell re-signed with Toronto]
5/23/2007 5:22:09 PM
RDU, I agree on Rashard Lewis. He wont' be worth the money he's going to make. I like Wallace, but if we're going to keep Wallace we need a sweet shooting 2 with decent size. I really think we should go after an athletic player on the wing. As good as all of these bigs are coming out, I don't think any of them are an upgrade over what we had. (the bigs at the #8 range)
5/23/2007 5:52:00 PM
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2880644more news of Sam Vincent becoming the next head coach.
5/23/2007 6:09:42 PM
5/23/2007 6:47:46 PM
hell yeah that'd be awesome
5/23/2007 6:50:35 PM
brewer wont be available at 8 sorry guys
5/23/2007 7:23:52 PM
Ya. I don't see Brandon Wright going 7th & Corey Brewer 8th? I think we'll have to settle for Julian Wright instead
5/23/2007 7:41:00 PM
yeah, there is no way Brewer is around at 8id love it, but its not happeningI would be OK with Julian Wright
5/23/2007 11:00:03 PM
I'd say it's possible he's there at 8. Not likely ... but I can easily see the above happening. Throw in Jeff Green and Noah, and you never know. For what it's worth, http://nbadraft.net/also has us taking Brewer.
5/24/2007 1:37:08 AM
You guys missed my point. With just a couple less victories we would have flipflopped with either Portland or Seattle (two teams we trailed all season until the end)And we'd be picking first or second next month. We fucked up big time.
5/24/2007 3:21:25 AM
We all realize that losing 3 more games would have given us a much better chance but it doesn't mean all of Portland's or Seattle's balls would become ours and vice versaIt just means we would have gotten more balls and they would have gotten lessThe 4 number combination that was drawn still could have been one of the combinations that those 2 teams hadWe would have had a better chance, but by no means would we have the winning combination for sure
5/24/2007 4:53:02 AM
what are the odds we trade up a few spots to land brewer
5/24/2007 9:16:01 AM
hmm, not real goodId love to get rid of BK in some sort of trade and pick up another guard such as Javaris Crittenton who is a big guard at 6-5maybe see on draft night if Brewer doesnt go before say 6th, then id look to move up possibly but we'd probably have to get rid of the 22nd pickI think Wright, JianLian, and Horford will still go before Brewer. Then Conley, Wright, and Noah are a toss up with Brewer based on team need
5/24/2007 9:31:48 AM
so your tellin me theres a chance...
5/24/2007 10:09:35 AM
you will have to talk to MJ about that
5/24/2007 10:11:09 AM
5/24/2007 10:27:10 AM
IF ONLY ORLANDO HAD PICKED OKAFOR WE'D HAVE HOWARDLETS DWELL ON THAT TOO SINCE WE CAN CHANGE THE PAST
5/24/2007 10:28:27 AM
^^how do you know that's right?[Edited on May 24, 2007 at 10:31 AM. Reason : x]
5/24/2007 10:28:28 AM
I mean had we lost a few more games we'd have Portlands lotto balls and theyd have ours.It was just dumb to catch fire the last month of the season while everyone else was tanking. This "build through the draft" strategy is not gonna work if we keep drafting shitty/average players. At least Oden/Durant wound up in the Western conference so a team didn't leapfrog us for a playoff spot.We need to make the playoffs this year somehow
5/24/2007 10:59:20 AM
5/24/2007 3:08:54 PM
face it guys, this team will not be good for a long time
5/24/2007 3:33:54 PM
by very long time you mean next season when we'll be battling for the 8th spot?
5/24/2007 3:36:57 PM
^^retarded post. Bobcats will very likely make the playoffs next year. I call that good for a 4th year franchise.
5/24/2007 3:43:32 PM
Bobcats have a new coach... Sam Vincent, the next Avery Johnson (hopefully he learned something from him while sitting on the bench)http://www.charlotte.com/bobcats/story/133277.htmlHe'd better be outta there though if we don't make it to the playoffs this year...
5/24/2007 3:55:48 PM
^so you're saying if we dont make the playoffs in the brand new head coach's very first year that we should fire him?]
5/24/2007 3:57:00 PM
5/24/2007 4:17:11 PM
5/24/2007 4:20:17 PM
A realistic look at the playoff picture as of right now ( i realize rosters could change drastically)Going to be better than us:Detroit, Cleveland, Washington, ChicagoLikely to be better than us:Toronto, MiamiThat would leave two spots between Charlote, New Jersey, Orlando, Indiana, Milwaukee, Philly, New York, Boston, and AtlantaIf Vince leaves NJ they become notably weaker and may even move Kidd to start over. Orlando has some cap space and could potentially land Vince Carter.Indiana crippled themselves through two bad trades (artest and jackson/harrington) so im not too worried about themMilwaukee could be much improved with a healthy Villanueva and possibly Simmons. A lot depends on if Mo Williams re-signs or they replace him with a capable PG.Philly doesn't scare me they just dont have the weapons.New York improved this year but i dont see them really getting any better this offseason. They are stuck with Marbury/Francis for another couple of seasonsBoston would need a healthy Szcerbiak and some of their young players to really improve to be better than usAtlanta would have a CHANCE to be better than us if they got good PG play.Basically I dont think we're any better than 50/50 to make the postseason as of right now so I definitely wouldn't fire a new head coach unless we totally bomb next year (less than 33-34 wins)
5/24/2007 4:21:45 PM
so in your eyes an expansion team that "makes the playoffs" after four years is successful?I guess you could be right about how the franchise is progressing but, I still say we will suck."The Charlotte Bobcats posted the all-time best third year expansion team record in recent NBA expansion history after posting 33 wins during the 2006-07 season. In the last 20-plus years, no other NBA expansion team has recorded a better record and no team has won more than 26 games in their third season until the Bobcats surpassed that mark on March 28 against Atlanta. The Bobcats 33 wins, 20 home victories and 13 road wins this season are a franchise best. Charlotte’s previous highs were 26 wins overall, 17 home wins and nine road victories, all recorded during the 2005-06 season."

5/24/2007 7:25:35 PM
its still a random lotterygranted the more losses you have, the more ping pong ballsstill doesnt guarantee a top 3 pick...ask boston and memphis if tanking at the end of a season guarantees a top 3 pickbut regardless, we got the 8th pick...the lottery is over and portland won
5/24/2007 7:28:18 PM
if we had portlands pick we'd be picking #1.That seems really obvious, i dont know how you can argue it.Its a random fucking lotto.... it doesnt care what team is on the ball, its gonna be the same regardless of which team is in which spot....
5/24/2007 7:36:37 PM
rally's point is thisfor the top 3 picks, 4 numbers are takeneach team is assigned several 4-digit numbersthe 4 numbers that were drawn for pick #1 happened to fall within the assigned numbers that were in Portland's list.If the bobcats had the record that portland had, they would have been given the same set of numbers that portland was given.I assume the assigned numbers are NOT random, because obviously the teams all have different odds of winning.i think everyone agrees that if the lottery were performed again, different results would obviously occurthe only thing random about the lottery is what balls pop out of the windblower/mixer thingits just that the finishing records of the teams are what determine how many number combinations are given to a team for their list of 4-digit numbers
5/24/2007 7:45:57 PM
The lottery combinations are assigned at random when its determined how many combinations each team getsThey don't get actual ping pong balls with thier names on themThey get 4-figure combinations that are drawn from the 14 balls in the lotto machineIf we had more losses than Portland, we would have had more combinations than them, not the exact same combinations they hadWhen the league randomly assigned the combinations, Charlotte would have gotten more than Portland but not the same ones Portland got---its not predetermined which combinations go to what teamsIf we had the same combinations as Portland had, then no shit we'd have the top pickIts all selected randomly---if we switched records with the Blazers, it would have been completely random which combinations were assigned to us just as it was now[Edited on May 24, 2007 at 7:52 PM. 5/24/2007 7:55:12 PM
in other words, had we been in Portland's spot... we would have gotten the #1 pick.Im not saying if they did the lottery over again. Im saying had we been in Portlands spot (i.e. lost more games than them) we would have gotten the #1 spot. They didnt win because they were Portland, they won because they were assigned those combinations. Had Charlotte been assigned those combinations, we would have won too.
5/24/2007 9:29:42 PM
and if emeka hadnt gotten injured this year we might've played the pistons in the first roundi'd like to see us get brewer at #8wonder what players are projected to go around #22?
5/24/2007 9:31:35 PM
id love brewer but i dont think he'll last that long.At #22 maybe we can grab a backup PG and let brevin go to save some $$$ or even use him in a trade...not a huge fan of taking big men late in the first round
5/24/2007 9:39:43 PM
I say we pick up Acie Law at 22. Good backup PG that can make things happen with the clock winding down. Plus his name is Acie Law ... and that's just badass.
5/25/2007 12:49:21 AM
^If Acie Law drops to 22....then something is wrong with the NBALaw can ball. He was my favorite non-NCSU player in college ball this year.
5/25/2007 12:56:36 AM
No chance Acie Law is still around at 22.I would like us to get Nick Young at 8 and Sean Williams at 22. I know Williams doesn't fit our model of "character guys" but he's a legit big man and I think he's just as good as any of the big men that we could get at the 8 spot.Young may be the piece we're missing. We need a 2. We need a shooter, scorer and athlete on the wing.[Edited on May 25, 2007 at 1:45 AM. Reason : ,]
5/25/2007 1:42:35 AM
Once again, from NBAdraft.net, so take it for what it's worth ...20. Miami Acie Law 6-3 195 PG Texas A&M Sr20 sure isn't far from 22.
5/25/2007 1:56:25 AM
if we are going to draft Nick fucking Young we'd better trade down a few spots to do itthat said, lets pray the Celtics bite on the Chinaman (its not the proper nomenclature) and not on Brewer. If we make it out of this draft with Brewer i think we will have done a good days workI am also thinking Brandan Wright may fall a bit when Conley is picked, thats if someone thinks Jianlian can play. So both Wrights may be an option
5/25/2007 7:55:16 AM
I swear to god if Brandan Wright somehow falls to the bobcats and they pick him i'm done with them. Fuck Carolina
