i'm sorry, but when i see a completely limp body being carried by four people, it's hard not to think the person is deadand now cnn is showing it tooin summary:you can show dead peoplebut video games caused the violence
4/16/2007 2:43:08 PM
its bad taste, imo, no matter what company is showing it.
4/16/2007 2:46:02 PM
Yeah, I'd be quite upset if I were a family member and had to see that on the front page of a major news website, knowing full well that millions of people would come to know your son as "that dead corpse on anynewssite.com."

4/16/2007 2:47:38 PM
You really can't see the face of the person they are carrying. It could have been the shooter or someone they were trying to get to safety that was already injured!
4/16/2007 2:53:39 PM
who gives a shit about the picture they're showing?whats it going to due, further validate your existing opinion about how horrible today's events were?]
4/16/2007 2:54:54 PM
If the person is dead, they'd not move the body. Why would you move a dead body away from a crime scene?
4/16/2007 2:55:26 PM
^exactly...that is why I think it would have to be someone who was injured and not dead! One of the many reasons. All of us have seen way worse stuff on TV so why are you all upset over this picture. Makes no sense to me!
4/16/2007 2:58:32 PM
4/16/2007 2:58:51 PM
^Why do people do that??? Ok big fucking deal someone fucked up and used the wrong word in the heat of the moment
4/16/2007 3:02:49 PM
Point being, he should not have gotten that upset to begin with. I had a valid point. No need to get all worked up and make yourself seem like an idiot about it.
4/16/2007 3:05:40 PM
Yea cuz I am sure you have never typed a typo before And just because you think your point is valid other people prolly find their points valid too! And if that was my child that the police were carrying out of harms way after they were already wounded...more power to them!
4/16/2007 3:08:38 PM
*donow that grammar is out of the wayI dont think your point was valid...I think its completely trivial...dude just mowed down like ~50 people, ~half of whom are already dead...and your complaint is about a picture with some blood]
4/16/2007 3:12:14 PM
jesus christ - it's not a question about the cops carrying him out...it's the need (well, the lack of a need) to actually show shit like that. granted it's not as infuriating to me as the video cnn posted a while back of a sniper taking out us troops (cut away just after the crack of the rifle).my point is there is no need to show that shit. it does not further the story. it's like the bus crash in atlanta last month. the police moved the bodies under the overpass to hide them from sight, yet you could actually see helicopters jockeying for position to get their money shot of the bodies covered by tarps. it's just not needed. yet the media shows shit like this, but then will most likely go on to speculate if violent video games exposed this kid to shit that made him do it, oblivious to the fact that they are exposing people to real violence. if the media chooses not to show people running on the field at sporting events (presumably to discourage such coverage) why should they feel any less obligated to turn a blind camera to the dead and wounded?/rant
4/16/2007 3:16:03 PM
well i agree the media are money and ratings hungry pieces of shiti just think if they really wanted a bad picture they couldve gotten one of a body that was obviously dead and very very bloody...or perhaps one of the classrooms that had been shot upand while i agree sensationalism is a problem in the media, and i havent been watching any news outlets to day to hear all their speculations about video games, etc, i dont have as much of a problem with them showing the aforementioned picture when the story that goes along with the picture is essentially "worst school shooting in US history"
4/16/2007 3:21:27 PM
How is this any different from Kent State (the media coverage)? This photo was published on the cover of Newsweek. The photographer won a Pulitzer Prize.[Edited on April 16, 2007 at 3:34 PM. Reason : ]
4/16/2007 3:33:58 PM
whats up with all those people just walking around and standing around, seemingly nonchalant? is that after the sniper was killed?
4/16/2007 3:37:13 PM
4/16/2007 3:40:07 PM
so those people are just idiots theni mean, they're not exactly ducking down or anythingand a few of them in the background look like they're completely oblivious to the gunshots they must have just recently heardhence why i asked about the timeline
4/16/2007 3:41:05 PM
That guy wasn't killed by a sniper.
4/16/2007 3:42:52 PM
I so don't understand what is so fucking bad with this picture. You see worse shit in movies, video games and not to mention your everyday news shit on TV. Granted video games and movies aren't reality. It still isn't that bad of a picture. I don't think it is a dead person not that it even matters. But more than likely if someone is dead in a situation like this...you aren't going to move them. You are going to leave them for the time being until the situation is safe and worry more about getting injured and unharmed people out of harm's way. If the person was injured you would obviously move them to get them out of any future harm that may come if the shooter wasn't down yet. They would leave the dead in place to document everything so that they can put some sort of timeline in order to make more sense out of the situation...like in Columbine. They would also take note of where they found injured people so that it too can be document in the files. Also it really wouldn't be up to 4 uniformed officers to move the body. The crime scene team would be doing that as well as the coroner once the scene was deemed secure.

did this guy have an automatic weapon or what? I can't imagine some amateur with a handgun being able to kill so many people or even having that many bullets
4/16/2007 3:52:08 PM
he had 2 handguns (diff. reports: some say 2 9 MM, some say a 9MM and a 22) and multiple clips
4/16/2007 4:11:12 PM

they're magazines, not clips, fyi. he could have been practicing at a gun range. it's not that unfathomable. a vest with multiple magazine holders can be concealable too.
4/16/2007 5:36:08 PM
is there any official word on whether or not the two shootings were related?or the motives behind the shootings?it's so tragic when innocent people are gunned down like this]
4/16/2007 5:41:12 PM
Website sort of sarcastic? Shit. Who in the hell is behind it? If they affiliated with ours or anyother university they should be exposed and publicly beat.
