P3 is all about some M3!which backseat would you rather be in?and what about front seat?
4/14/2007 11:03:24 AM
that s5 is too damned sexyi think it should get the tt v-10
4/14/2007 11:08:13 AM
ha ain't gonna happen.but surely the RS5 will get the RS4's powerplant, with maybe 10-30 extra hp.
4/14/2007 11:12:59 AM
i'd rather be in the RS4 backseat, but that is a 4 door, so of course it's a bit more comfortable, but that really have no affect on which car i'd rather own. i do like 4 doors though. [Edited on April 14, 2007 at 11:34 AM. Reason : as]

hot all of them

4/19/2007 1:21:54 PM
thats alot of power for a 5.2 0-62 in such a small car.
4/19/2007 2:36:40 PM
yeah don't worry about that...didn't the E46 M3 do 0-60 mph in 4.9 or 4.8 seconds?if so, this will do it in 4.6-4.8.
4/19/2007 2:38:51 PM
yeah that would be straight.
4/19/2007 2:45:13 PM
hey I got a crazy idea... the 7 should be renamed the 9 and allowed to get even huger and disproportionate, the 5 can be called the 7, the 3 the 5, and the 1 the 3, and the new m1 can appropriately be called the m3 again, and the m3 will be the size it's supposed to be, and the cars will all roughly have the same footprint their corrected namesakes had in 1990. only they'll all be heavier. and it'd make for a nice little poser weedout period, because anyone who wants a 5 will be thrilled that they get to say they drive a 7, and likewise for m3 drivers, who now drive the first m5 coupe in history, and the only ones who will complain are the ones buying the badge who somehow feel cheated now that their 1 year old bmw is a whole 2 "bmw nameplate digits" "less" than the same car new. It'd purify the breed both on the showroom floor and in the buyer pool.

^^^ and ^^^^e46 m3 did 0-60 in 4.8 on the same motor in a fairly C&D comparison test:http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/9846/comparison-test-review-audi-rs-4-quattro-vs-bmw-m3-vs-mercedes-benz-c55-amg-specs-page6.htmland had a curb weight of 3394. the 1 series, motor for motor is supposed to be 250 lbs lighter, motor-for-motor than the e92 3-seriesjust to remain relatively consistent, c&D says the 335i weighs "3571-3582 lb"http://www.caranddriver.com/carspecs/2007-bmw-3-series/bmw_3-series_coupe/4761-335i6CYLTURBO30Liter.htmlbut since there isn't an s54 (343 Mpower inline-6, for you model/chassis/engine-number-begrudgers) e92 (current shape 3-series), I tried to go look up the weight savings on the 335 owing to its magnesium block, since the naturally aspirated 3.0 claims to be the lightest production inline-6 of that size ever... but then I found:"Powered by a twin-turbocharged, intercooled 3.0-liter inline six loosely based on the engine currently found in the 3 Series, the 335i’s engine is the first turbocharged gasoline BMW engine in decades. The turbo engine forgoes the aluminum-magnesium block found in the normally aspirated variants in lieu of an all-aluminum block."http://joshinthecity.wordpress.com/2006/07/18/bmw-goes-turbo-for-the-first-time-in-decades-2007-335i-coupe/combined with the turbo hardware, probably means the weight savings over the s54 is negligiblesome engine weights (http://wheeltalk.fancal.net/?p=634), obviously not all potential 1-series, but all somewhat interesting to consider, especially the weights of the various 3.0liter iinline-sixesyear, model, code, disp, config, hp, weight in lbs2000 BMW 330i BMW M54 3.0L DOHC I6 231 3752005 BMW 330i BMW N52 3.0L DOHC I6 258 3572006 BMW M5 BMW S85 5.0L DOHC V10 500 5292007 BMW 335i BMW N54 3.0L DOHC I6 Biturbo 300 4192005 Chevy Corvette GM LS2 6.0L OHV V8 400 443 auto2006 Chevy Corvette Z06 GM LS7 7.0L OHV V8 505 490 458 dryand some others:autoblog on new m3 v8"The aluminum and composite engine weighs only 445 lbs, 33 lbs less than the base 3-Series' inline-six. Eh, not really a fan of those looks. Those Bangle side surfaces are blah [Edited on May 6, 2007 at 7:35 PM. Reason : k]

^^-It's certainly exciting to see a high powered tiny rwd coupe come to the US-I'm not sure I'd want an M1 specifically like that or the way M fits with the BMW range these days. -I think the production M1 will be less aggressive. The images you've found have neatly but too literally slapped m3 and m5 details onto the 1 series spy pics.-If the M1 were too aggressive-looking or too similar to the m3, it would be a return to BMW's rejected "one sausage, different lengths" policy from the 90s that led to the Bangled cars. -if there is going to be an M1, I think it will wear something similar to the 130iM body kit -M cars lately have been suffering from a bit too much "evo"-style aggessiveness anyway. Gaping apertures do often add menace, but expanding them doesn't always improve form. (e.g. original murcielago vs. current LP640)-I think the likely motor, the S54 from the E46 m3 and current M coupe/roadster, is now the victim of a squeeze play.-The new N54 turbo seems to be too easy to tune to justify addtl $$$ for an M, even if they offer it-Hartge and Vishnu and other BMW tuners (including Dinan) are getting BIG numbers out of the 335i with only computer programming (claims as high as 400hp for only a few $k's) turner motorsportreflashhttp://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=TN54-ST1LSdiffhttp://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=100-100-00008-until I see something that is clearly an M1 mule, I'm just hoping BMW offers the turbo inline six, since nothing is set in stone yet and we may only get the 270 hp inline-6 as it sits in the new 530i.-If the 1 series debuts with only the 328i's 230 hp version of the inline-6, then there probably will be an M1 since that would be a 110-hp gap that could justify a $10k+ premium. If the turbo's offered, that'll probably be the next wrx if the aftermarket has the same preferences that I do!

http://www.autocar.co.uk/VideosWallpapers/Video.aspx?AR=224541&page=1&Mode=BAutocar (Chris Harris) drifting the Hartge-tuned 335i with the new LSD and computer reflash (birds UK sells Hartge products). I just read in EVO today a review of the same car. That article said the diff used was a torque sensing helical limited slip by Quaife, but the link to this video was on turnermotorsport's page, which I'm presuming isn't the same diff as the one in the car in the video, since turner's description says theirs is a clutch-type LSD. Or maybe I have confused myself.maybe turner motorsports doesn't have theirs installed in a 335i yet and on video and they're hoping to glean some sales by illustrating that any limited slip is better than an open diff.

You like? This is what an illustrator at AMS (Auto Motor Sport) thinks the new generation of the 5-Series will look like. To debut in 2010.I think it looks good. Looks like a combination of the current 5-Series, with a lot of the current 3-Series in it. The bangle-butt is gone, and the flame surfacing has been cut down. For bigger pics: http://www.automotorsport.se/article.asp?article=10307

dude... i just saw an ad for a 5 series that looked like that labeled as "the new 5 series" and yes it was the 5 series not the 3 because i did a double take.

Hmmm... should I go for the new M3, or the ultimate sleeper car, the Hartge H50 V10?Hartge H50 V10 3-Series Coupe with the M5's V10 bumped up to 550 hp. http://www.worldcarfans.com/9071109.005/hartge-h50-v10-coupe-test-driveIt can reach 200 mph. But it looks just like the 335i, save for the 4 tail pipes and the big wheels/tires. No other body mods like the M3's indicating its wicked nature.USD 230,000.Considering that price, perhaps I should go for the F430, Gallardo, 911 Turbo/GT2, Continental GT, etc, and still have enough change left over to buy a luxury sedan?

if i have a tricked out bmw, people will just assume i'm a pretentious prick, which i am.if i have a conti gt, ferarri, porsche, etc... they'll assume i have money, which isn't the type of vibe i want to give off.
