^^ By the end, sure . . . but I said overIt'll go beyond energy though. As anyone who works construction can tell you, copper prices have gone through the roof recently. As a general rule, industrial commodity prices are increasing across the board. China will be the economic power in the coming years, but I'm arguing that this is an opportunity for the United States to take the lead on renewable resources and efficiency. Not withdrawing from the global market but making better use of our resources both domestic and imported.

Honestly, if you believing that the Global Warming religion is about the "future of our children," then you've been had. This isn't about the future; this is about trying to take away our freedoms and liberties. The crowd that is saying hey, everyone needs to cut back on energy, IS the blame America first crowd. They think that America is what's wrong with this world. They can't stand the fact that people are living their lives the way they want to; they need the government to put restrictions on things so people are forced to live the way that they want to live. But, wait? What? The person who is demanding that we give up our luxurious lifestyles is using far more energy than the average American? What a shock. Hell, it's so shocking that one might be able to make the claim that Gore doesn't even care about the environment, but rather he's clinging to the one issue that he thinks can keep him in the spotlight. It's okay though, because he buys carbon offsets. Carbon offsets, lol - you're essentially paying someone for the pollution that they didn't do.Now, I don't have a problem with Gore living the way he does. It's his money. My problem is that he's telling everyone else to cut back, and his only defense is that he's paying a ton of money to someone, in an attempt to take back the damage that he's already done. What about those of us that can't afford Carbon offsets? Gore tells us to simply live under our means. But because Gore has tons of money, he doesn't have to - he'll simply pay it off. This is such a fucking joke and a disgrace to America, those of you that honestly buy this garbage need to take a look around.

what a new and interesting thought!

Sober, can you save your high school commentary for the shit threads in chit chat? I think everyone in TSB can see the guy has 30 posts and didn't notice a 14 page thread about this, we don't need you to add your tripe shit, especially when 50% of your content in here is indeed that.
2/27/2007 3:48:32 PM
i'm starting to see the arguments for the "war against terror" and the "greenhouse scare" overlapthey're both chicken little-esque in fashion and rely heavily on preemptive strikes before we're all swimming in post apocalyptic ashthe interesting thing is that the 'sides' seem to flip-flop in reasoning when asked about the other issue
2/27/2007 3:49:58 PM
indeedbut most soapbox posters don't let a few contradictions stop them from arguing the party mantra until their face turns blue
2/27/2007 3:55:11 PM
yeah. unfortunately.

I've posted in the other thread, but someone said that discussion of the "Gore's house uses 20x more energy" issue didn't belong there, so I decided to post in the thread that was made specifically for that topic. My bad, I guess.

Just to add to the discussion, I'll mention that there is a possibility he inherited this difficult house from his rich father. Old houses are tougher than new ones.
2/28/2007 9:39:46 AM
So, in his movie, when he was saying that we all should cut consumption of energy or we'll all die in freak acts of nature, did he add a clause "unless you inherited a house?"I didn't think so.weak argument.

2/28/2007 11:03:34 AM
from reading this threadit's ok to be an elitist white rich guy that pollutes and harms the enviromentif you're a democrat
2/28/2007 11:06:55 AM
screw some CO2 credits...Gore gets a message out there and if some other people clean up THEIR acts, then Gore doesnt have toalso apparently its ok to pollute as long as you pay money for people to plant trees
2/28/2007 11:08:40 AM
yet if someone is like nader they get labelled a whack-job.
2/28/2007 11:13:42 AM
I don't think anyone is arguing against taking measures to make this world cleanerthey're arguing the fact that someone is making this political (getting votes for the dems because obviously only the left cares about the planet) and trying to tell others how they should live their lives when that person is polluting more every year than many americans do their whole life

i want to see his pool, i mean they are expensive but a residential pool with a good pump/motor isnt going to be that expensive
2/28/2007 12:10:54 PM
You're right, it doesn't take too much energy to run the pump, but it does take a lot to heat the pool.
2/28/2007 12:38:59 PM
oh i know, ive had to learn all about this stuff. but in tennessee the season should be pretty long, so unless they are really extending it into the spring and fall they shouldnt have to use a heater very much.non of this really matters, its more just me being curious what kind of pool he has[Edited on February 28, 2007 at 12:44 PM.
