you posted some wikipedia entries of shit i already knewwhy dont you define "true hip hop" if you say it died in the early 80s?i mean i could say "true hip hop" died in the early 70s as soon as the first emcee came along since the original hip hop was kool herc spinning records at block parties in the bronxcourse i would consider there to be plenty of true hip hop that has come out in the last year or two

1) i'm pretty sure ben wallace and shaq can't skate2) fighting is allowed in hockey because it is a physical sport, it is needed so that the other team doesn't take cheap shots at your stars...basketball has fouls to protect their players3) someone said the ottawa goalie lost this fight, i now want to fight you, for the sake of this university and mankind

if you watch nba nhl games, most of them dont have any fights or conflicts at all
2/23/2007 10:18:28 PM
Doesn't every sport have a "conflict"
2/23/2007 10:22:40 PM
yeah and they're usually blown out of proportion by people who dont necessarily like that particular sport in the first place
2/23/2007 10:31:45 PM
Shit I agree I think that NBA shit has been blown way out of proportion. I don't see what the NHL has to do with that, though.
2/23/2007 10:38:56 PM
its just the double standard that gets annoying. Its strange to hear a coach after a game praising his players for fighting, saying he doesn't give a shit if they lose 10 to 1, as long as they got back at them...Now you tell me, is that the competitive nature of the sport or somebody acting as a "thug"?
2/23/2007 10:48:31 PM
i think when i think of the word "thug" one of the main things i think of is violence...I think some other people think of it as "hip hop urban"

^^when nba players get arrested for hiring a policeman to murder their gay lover, then we can start talking about them being thugs (minus artest of course)
2/24/2007 12:47:47 AM
i'm sorry, but if you don't think rap is about glorifying violence then i'm afraid you are one of the most dellusional people on the face of the planet
2/24/2007 12:51:39 AM
i think wikipedia has got you delusional or something cause you dont know what the fuck you're talking about

bob probert was the fucking man at fighting, one of the top hockey fighters ever... he played for the red wings and pretty much his role on that team was to fuck opponents up

"I remember one time I went up to Stu Grimson, who is a born-again Christian, and I asked him how he could go out and beat the shit out of people for a living. He just looked at me and smiled and said, 'The Lord knows that this is just my job.'" - Mike Peluso

The logic being used in this thread to legitimize fighting "as a part of a sport" is sad.Look, fighting happens. But its not a part of any sport. Its a result of competition and adrenaline. Anytime you get a bunch of people in a field/court/rink in a heated game with high stakes, tempers may get lost and athletes may resort to playing dirty. Anytime someone gets a cheap shot or is flagrantly fouled, a natural reaction may be to fight. I'm not saying its right. It just happens.Fighting happens occasionally in all sorts of sports. Hockey, football, basketball sometimes, even baseball. I don't think NBA players are thugs because of a lapse in judgement in ONE game. I don't think Nolan Ryan and Robin Ventura are thugs. Nor do I think NHL players are thugs. Fighting doesn't happen all that much and has been sensationalized.

twista, i see what you're sayingbut that wasn't in the stands, that was in the penalty box and any fan dumb enough to attack a player (especially one known as a fighter) while in the penalty box needs the beat downas much as i think domi is an assclown, that shit was hilarious
2/26/2007 11:48:35 AM
2/26/2007 11:50:06 AM
the difference here is the fan brought the fight to the player, on the playing surfacethe pacers incident, THEY brought the fight to the fan in the standsand they should be better than that^ to answer the question, yes they do deserve it, but if i remember correctly there were other fans there that didn't that wound up in the middle of a melee. it doesn't really matter anyway because there are always isolated incidences. the players involved there got punished, the fans that could be identified got punished and everybody moved on. that level of shit hasn't happened before or since that i know of...[Edited on February 26, 2007 at 11:54 AM. If you want to cite an actual hockey fight with fans then the Ty Domi thing was not it considering Domi really only restrained the guy as opposed to fighting him. Here is a real hockey player vs. fan moment.
