they were chanting m v p in tonight game. I think he had like 45. But it was against a weak timberwolves team. so...he won't win it.

fuck the NBA
3/19/2007 12:26:58 AM
He dropped 50 tonight, but Smush Parker couldn't miss and they got good play from Odom, Walton, Brown, and Bynum as well.
3/19/2007 1:44:00 AM
3/19/2007 7:36:03 AM
Kobe will not get the MVP because he throws to many elbows.
3/19/2007 9:51:04 AM
^What if the Lakers win out the rest of the season and he averages 48 ppg over that stretch to go along with 9 apg, 12 rpg, 4 spg and 2 bpg and 1.5 epg?]
3/19/2007 9:53:47 AM
I like the epg stat.
3/19/2007 10:00:48 AM
catch a few epg's and your face will look like this
3/19/2007 10:12:08 AM
kobe : best in the nba. best in the world. hes an asshole though, so it makes sense that people don't give him the respect he deserves base purely on his skills.
3/19/2007 11:23:44 AM
best scorer? perhapsbest player at making players around him better? hell nah
3/19/2007 11:29:58 AM

3/22/2007 9:45:13 PM
Kirk Hinrich is the NBA MVP
3/23/2007 1:43:06 AM
this is getting absurd. He's just making sure all the white voters have no excuses to vote for Nash again.
3/23/2007 11:26:59 AM
People still think Kobe shouldn't be MVP? I'm honestly in favor of not allowing anyone who holds that opinion to watch sports again..V lol, is that a joke? I hope so...[Edited on March 23, 2007 at 11:43 AM. Reason : x]
3/23/2007 11:31:25 AM
it figures that you fags would get caught up on his scoring numbers and ignore the fact that Nash makes his entire team better. Trade Kobe for Nash and the Lakers would be a much better team.
3/23/2007 11:37:49 AM
He's also taking 35-40 shots per game. It's not that impressive.
3/23/2007 11:41:59 AM
whats wrong with taking 40 shots if you're making 28?
3/23/2007 11:44:31 AM
Kobe Bryant:PPG: 30.5APG: 5.5RPG: 5.70FG%: .4653FG%: .358MPG: 40.2Steve Nash:PPG: 19.1APG: 11.6RPG: 3.50FG%: .5363FG%: .472MPG: 35.4Kobe is a fantastic player but I'm afraid that a point guard that averages over 11 assists per game and almost 20 points while shooting over 50% from the floor is more valuable. Kobe shoots the ball a lot. Nash is a better teammate and far more efficient. It's not even a contest. If the NBA was 1 v 1 then you might have an argument that Kobe is the MVP.
3/23/2007 11:49:59 AM
It depends on how you look at it. When Wilt scored 100 points that game I don't think he shot much more than 50% from the field. Remember that Wilt did A LOT of losing despite dropping insane numbers. If I was putting together a pickup team from all the players in the league I probably wouldn't pass up Kobe at the SG position. Put PG's are in MUCH higher demand and good ones are far more rare. That is what makes Nash special.
3/23/2007 11:52:14 AM
I personally would give Nash the Most VALUABLE Player award but thats just cause he is more valuable to his teamYou could put a Dwayne Wade on the Lakers instead of Kobe and he could do SIMILAR things...you couldnt just put Billups on the Suns and have the same success I dont thinkalthough now that i think about those two scenarios, i'm not sure how i feel
3/23/2007 11:54:44 AM
You guys need to remember that MVP is Most Valuable Player and not highest scorer. To drop 60 on THE WORST team in the league is nothing to laugh at but it was still the Grizzlies and they only won by 2. Take Kobe and his 40 shots off the Lakers last night and they still probably win the game (or at least they should have). So how is he making his team better?
3/23/2007 12:03:30 PM
95% of this board knows nothing about sports.Proven time and time again. How you can argue Nash over Kobe is beyond me.
3/23/2007 12:07:36 PM
I'll explain.MVP is Most Valuable Player. The award is not 'top scorer' or 'best shooter' or 'can rape white girls'. You have to look at more than 50 point games against the worst teams in the league.
3/23/2007 12:16:29 PM
3/23/2007 12:16:53 PM
Don't get me wrong, I love Nash. I hope the Suns win the championship because I love their style. Also, I have money on them to win the Championship. But MVP? Everyone is just getting carried away because a white player is pretty good for the first time since Larry Bird.See my post above, I already broke any argument you have.Nash isn't even ranked top ten in the league in the efficiency rankings.P.S. points win basketball games. If you drop 60 and score at an absolutely amazing % that's a good thing. Don't act like it's not.
3/23/2007 12:19:16 PM
3/23/2007 12:21:39 PM
I didn't say scoring 60 wasn't a great accomplishment. But they beat the Grizzles by 2. Take Kobe off the Lakers and play the Grizzlies and the Lakers still win the game. My whole point was I don't think Kobe makes the Lakers better by scoring 60. If he scores 25 and the Lakers win by 20 b/c they play as a team, then the team is better.
3/23/2007 12:24:47 PM
Steve Nash should never be the MVP of the NBA. For all you who are arguing that scoring a lot of points doesn't win you the MVP, you're right, but neither does racking up a lot of assists. They are just stats.Steve Nash is a good point guard in a GREAT situation. You could replace him with several other point guards in the league and the Suns would be just as good (allowing time for the transition, of course). The Lakers are a terrible basketball team outside of Kobe. Their 3rd and 4th leading scorers are Luke Walton and Smush Parker. Read that sentence again if it didn't sink in. Despite that, they are 36-32 and the #6 seed in the Western Conference, which makes them probably the 8th best team in the NBA.All that being said, I'd probably give Dirk the MVP right now.
3/23/2007 12:34:07 PM
so what about the possibility that Kobe's 60 was the only thing preventing the Lakers from losing to the Grizzlies?Obviously the what-if games are fun but hold no factual meritI think if any of us were starting a team and could have both Nash at PG and Kobe as SG/SF, we would all jump at the chanceCourse I could also say Phoenix minus Nash is much much much better than LA minus KobeLA has Odom...thats about it...then they have a couple nice role players like WaltonPhoenix has Marion and Stoudamire, two of the best players in the league...combined with lights out shooters like Raja Bell, Leandro Barbosa, etc
3/23/2007 12:34:15 PM
If Kobe has to score 60 to beat the Grizzlies they the Lakers wouldn't have a winning record in the West. You guys poo poo the rest of the Lakers too much. Kobe is becoming the Vick of the NBA on this board. When they win, its Kobe. When they lose, its the rest of the team. Maybe its b/c no one else is allowed to shine on that team b/c of Kobe.
3/23/2007 12:52:26 PM
holler back when Vick scores the 2nd most points in a single game in league history or whatever equivalent stat you want to useholy shit Kobe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Vick
