he talked about a picture... that was really corny
1/23/2007 10:25:33 PM
pretty good responsethe part about soldiers entrusting politicians with the power to send them to war when only necessary was good
1/23/2007 10:26:21 PM
what's on the left side of McCain's face (on ABC). a big scar or just a scrape. was that always there?
1/23/2007 10:27:17 PM
yeah the picture was kinda dumb, but i think we've already realized how much symbolism there is in all the movements, actions, and words tonight. the democrats had a lot less time than the republican president, so i guess they had to make it even more obvious.the democrats still said they will show the president the way out of iraq if he wont do it himself, and that was a strong statement.[Edited on January 23, 2007 at 10:28 PM. Yeah, that part about "showing him the way" was well-written.
1/23/2007 10:29:07 PM
i wasnt paying attention for katrina stuff, but the nbc guy just pointed out how the democrats mentioned it and the republicans didnt.it is where edwards launched his campaign.[Edited on January 23, 2007 at 10:31 PM. Reason : .]

^?Supplanter, Edwards on MSNBC brought it up. Saying how dissapointed he was that Bush said last year that he would be there for them as long as they needed and he hasnt been. (i dont forget exact comment)Webb's response was amazing. ONe of the best speeches I have seen in a long time.
1/23/2007 10:47:06 PM
I like how Webb pointed out the the affluent crowd was blossoming, while the middle class was vanishing. And then he ups the lower class payment, further eroding the middle class.Brilliant.
1/23/2007 10:49:27 PM
^^I was just making a late response to a post on page 2. My bad.

Congratulations, America just proved how dumb it is.We watch the SOTU, then proceed to search not for details on policies that he spoke of, but about tall former NBA stars and freaking baby einsten. And these citizens are the ones we take serious when we say the war was handled wrong? We're more concerted with E! television and random Disney spinoffs.
1/23/2007 11:00:21 PM
^ what are you talkking about? flipping around on the post-speech wrap ups, i didn't hear anything about the NBA and baby einstein people. they were all talking about the war and the insurance thing. here on TWW we're jus tmaking some jokes.....
1/23/2007 11:02:46 PM
^ aha, should've 'splained thatABC's wrap concluded by seeing what Google searches got hot after the SOTUoddly enough, we idiots were more interested in "Mutumbo" and "baby einsten" than anything else he said.[Edited on January 23, 2007 at 11:04 PM. Reason : .]

bridget - i was directing that at supplanter, it was too complicated to count how far up his comment was. the ? wasnt to you.^should have explained jokes? if you have to explain them they arent good jokes
1/23/2007 11:05:35 PM
Um, it wasn't a joke. It was a fact.I should've explained what I saw, as not everyone was watching ABC.
1/23/2007 11:07:34 PM
well, in defense of the Amurican people, i don't know what other Google searches should have spiked immediately afterwards. "war" "insurance plans"? nahbtw - how did they claim to get those numbers? Google doesn't release real-time search info
1/23/2007 11:09:24 PM
well that was very middle of the road.he certainly missed some huge opportunities to express his views for the future.Seems like he was doing a recap of the good that has been done over his tenure. He needed to expand more on the issues such as health care(although he did an ok job), education and especially the energy issue. he seemed Timid and very hesitant to speak to this crowd, not the Bush I am used to.Seems like he was testing the waters of the dems but yet continuing his stay the course mission.one thing that was mentioned by a good friend of mine was the

Wait, so Bush talked about this guy? :
1/23/2007 11:27:14 PM
yes, he was sitting beside Laura Bush. When they all stood up, there was a little Asian lady on the other side of him that literally came up to his hips
1/23/2007 11:28:19 PM

1/23/2007 11:37:37 PM

1/23/2007 11:40:31 PM
did anyone else laugh their ass off when him and cheney took that synchronized drink of water when talking about climate change?
1/24/2007 1:59:12 AM
^Yes, some folks did.Does anybody actually take the SotUA seriously anymore?
1/24/2007 2:05:53 AM
haha no

I heard a blurb on the radio this morning about the health care portion (did not watch the address).IIRC. You get taxed if the portion that your employer pays is over $15K/year. I would imagine you would get taxed on the amount over that limit. This money will go toward tax cuts for those that do not have health insurance. One criticism I heard was that this wouldn't be enough to actually help anyone - which I translated to mean they want to tax people with health insurance even more. The other obvious criticism that I heard was that this is a stupid idea that punishes the one group of people in the US that actually already have health insurance. No link, not looking either. I'm lazy this morning.[Edited on January 24, 2007 at 7:55 AM. Reason : -]
