and we are still waiting for ramon hernandez to come back to the lineup. He will add a bigger bat and he has been said to be the key to our pitching staff. Can't wait for him to be back

I always thought Benitez was sketchy, at best. Maybe that's just me...

Bedard needs to shape up.....for someone that is supposed to be the ACE of the staff, he hasnt been pulling his weight this season. We made a hell of an attempt to bring it back. But, BoSox lost too so we are still just 1.5 back.

Also Harden (projected to start tomorrow) was put on the DL tonight and they are pulling a AAA'er to start.

Did you guys see that Gary Thorne opened up a can a worms last night saying that Mirabelli said that the blood on the sock of Curt Schilling a couple years ago was actually paint? All of the BoSox were flipping out about it after the game...

http://www.newsobserver.com/122/story/566389.html

this is what the link i posted earlier last week was actually referencing.

Quote :
"Tuned into Fox Sports Net last week to catch a few innings of the Baltimore Orioles. No sign of them there.

Flipped over to the baseball package on Time Warner. Orioles game blacked out.

That's two swings and two misses. I didn't even see the called third strike.

In case you weren't paying attention either, the Orioles and the Washington Nationals are now available in North Carolina only on MASN, the personal network of the Orioles and owner Peter Angelos.

But MASN and Time Warner have failed to come to an agreement to carry the network, which means that unless you have a satellite dish -- DirecTV or Dish Network -- you'll see more of the Chicago Cubs and White Sox and Atlanta Braves than the teams that actually have the rights to this market.

Since Major League Baseball last divided up its broadcast territories in 1981, Orioles broadcasts were available in the Triangle.

For years, they were on Comcast Sports Net -- the Washington-based network, previously known as Home Team Sports, that held the regional rights for the Triangle -- and then on Atlanta-based FSN South, which took over the market from Comcast in 2002.

When the Montreal Expos moved to Washington and into the Orioles' backyard, MLB awarded Angelos the Nationals' television rights to get Angelos to waive his hold on the Baltimore/Washington market.

Angelos founded MASN -- short for Mid-Atlantic Sports Network -- to carry the Nats, then waited two years for the Orioles' old TV deal to expire.

The old deal put their games on FSN South here.

Now, they're on MASN.

But not on Time Warner.

In the northeast corner of the state, in places like Ahoskie and Edenton, Mediacom will add MASN on July 1. But MASN isn't on Time Warner, leaving the Triangle and Charlotte as the biggest holes in MASN's seven-state reach. Harrisburg, Pa., and Roanoke, Va., are the others.

"MASN has tried six ways to Sunday to get Time Warner to carry MASN, but Time Warner has refused," MASN spokesman Todd Webster said. "We would encourage people to call Time Warner and ask them to turn on the games because they could flip the switch and turn on MASN tomorrow. The ball is in their court."

A Time Warner corporate spokesman said that the company was in discussion with MASN and wouldn't comment on ongoing negotiations, but it isn't hard to imagine why Time Warner isn't exactly swinging at MASN's pitch.

Even beyond the fee to carry the channel, part of the hang-up may be that cable systems aren't just being asked to carry MASN. With so many games to televise, there's a second, overflow channel, MASN2, when the Orioles and Nationals are playing at the same time. And if you want one, you have to make room for both.

Comcast, for example, bumps C-SPAN2 to make room for MASN2 when it's on, which doesn't make any friends in Washington, home to C-SPAN's subject matter.

And it has been reported that MASN insists it be added as a primary channel, like FSN South on Time Warner's Channel 50, and not a digital-only option like Fox Soccer Channel on Channel 144.

Still, none of that is any excuse when cable subscribers in the Triangle can't see the baseball they're supposed to get. We're three weeks into the season and it's not like MASN and Time Warner didn't see this coming months ago.

Should this situation stagnate until next spring, the wild card could be the Carolina Hurricanes. Their deal with FSN South expires after the 2007-08 season, and that relationship has been plagued by a limited schedule that has seen some of their biggest games go untelevised.

When the Canes signed that deal in the spring of 2002, FSN South had a monopoly in this market. The potential arrival of MASN may change that equation -- "MASN would absolutely be interested in the Hurricanes," Webster said -- and force Time Warner's hand if the Canes go that direction.

The Orioles and Nationals need the Triangle. Time Warner needs MASN. And the Triangle needs baseball.

Let's hope it doesn't take hockey to break the baseball stalemate."

now that we have a decent bullpen, we need to work on the bats.. we're in the middle with runs against in the division, but dead last in runs scored.

as a Yankees fan, i HATE Peter Angelos as much as I do Barry Bonds.

he's taken a historic franchise and just took a giant shit on it. i hope the city or somebody in Baltimore can buy that guy out.

I love hearing someone that is not a Orioles fan say that! Its def the truth...supposedly I heard at the beginning of the season that there was a group looking into a deal to buy the club. It was probably nothing serious, but I heard that Cal Jr. was a piece to that group. Would be nice to have a group of people that actually cared about the growth of the franchise. Baltimore is a historic ball club and I can't wait to see the days in the future when the fans can see their team shine like the days of old.

By the way....victory in 10 on a Markakis walk off single.

i was at the game in washington tonight.. weird seeing them in away jerseys.

Finally pulled down a win in close game in the bottom of the 9th, even if it was only against the nationals. We haven't actually been playing that badly, just losing a lot of close ones. Maddening baseball

I wish Angelos would sell the team to somebody with some baseball knowledge. Baltimore is a great baseball city, it's a damn shame to see us mire in mediocrity like this.

In case you guys havent noticed, Danys Baez has blown like 4 straight appearances. Erik Bedard went seven innings last night with 12 K's and Baez came in the 8th and gave up 3 runs. He needs to be sent down badly!
