Can anyone host the Vista Busines ISO downloaded from MSDNAA?
2/5/2007 3:07:40 PM
y do u need someone to host it? if you have access to MSDNAA then log in and download it; if you dont have access then that is for a reason.
2/5/2007 4:50:09 PM
^^Because I want it and don't see why CSC majors shouldn't have access.
2/5/2007 8:16:51 PM
learn how to use torrents then.

I'd like to point out anyone enrolled in a CSC class can download from the MSDNAA by using this link. It is specific to the CSC department instead of ECE.http://msdn.e-academy.com/elms/Storefront/Home.aspx?campus=ncsu_cs

^^ in xp i can play a 24 xvid rip perfectly, in vista it can't keep the video/audio synced... my computer is more than adequate to play the file. either the codecs suck in vista or some drivers aren't worth a damn in vista (nvidia?)oh and half life 2 runs noticeably slower in vista using the same performance settings.
2/9/2007 8:22:24 AM
^ nvidia drivers for vista suck right now, as well as a lot of other peoples drivers for vista ( like the $250 mobo I just bought that sucks ass with vista). Either way, the video thing could be the player you're using. Grab VLC, it works fine in vista for me.

catalyst, if you don't have access, contact Sarah Williams and let her know
2/10/2007 3:39:28 PM
Actually some other colleges do have Ultimate and Business on MSDN
2/10/2007 7:00:53 PM
exactly which college has ultimate?
2/10/2007 8:08:55 PM
shouldn't csc get ultimate if anyone does?and yeah, who has ultimate on there? i may have to take a class in it next fall
2/12/2007 2:49:49 PM
maybe they expect csc to write their own
2/12/2007 2:54:34 PM
anyone else think vista feels really sluggish compared to xp? (mostly referring to the UI)i like it and all (besides for fucking hp not supplying drivers for their printers), but this sluggish thing has got to go
4/17/2007 10:50:31 PM
i have it i guess through an ie class im taking, but i have to pay for a cd i cant download
4/17/2007 10:55:13 PM
^^ yeah it was really sluggish for me, especially in file move/copy/delete operations and printing, and holy crap printing takes foreverI went back to XP
4/18/2007 12:06:10 AM
vista business doesnt have games
4/18/2007 12:49:57 AM
yeah, i got it because of csc200 this semester - was quite surprised, didn't know they gave MSDNAA to csc200 students.vista = sucks.they do have windows xp embedded, though - that's awesome.
4/18/2007 12:55:43 AM
anyone know a good place to get multi-monitor screensavers?
4/18/2007 12:57:13 AM
I was trying to put a .dll file in System32 today and I had to confirm the move about 5 times, then it popped up a status bar to move a 1mb file...WTF VISTA
4/18/2007 12:33:49 PM
the file move/copy/paste problem was supposedly fixed in a hotfix released by MS. btw, this is the x86 version.http://hotfix.xable.net/download/index.php?dir=Language%20Neutral/Vista/&file=Windows6.0-KB931770-x86.msuif it doesn't start downloading: click the link once, click the anti leech box and continue, then close the page and click the link of the forums again and it will start the download.
4/18/2007 12:46:21 PM
speaking of vista's speed... it's actually very quick on my machine, with the exception of network printing...then again im not using a pc, lol
4/18/2007 2:18:27 PM
^yeah, it's fine on my mac. haha.
4/18/2007 2:54:01 PM
i gotta remember to sneak myself onto that list
4/18/2007 3:20:05 PM
does anyone actually like vista yet or is it just a cluster of problems right now?
4/18/2007 3:24:58 PM
im liking it
4/18/2007 3:47:23 PM
i'm about to build a new desktop for a media center and i'm debating between vista ultimate and xp media center and of course linux
4/18/2007 3:56:12 PM
im dual booting on my Macbook ProGames run fine in Vista, I just think the whole Access Control is dumb. If I click on a program to run it, OF COURSE I would like to run it.Also, putting shit in the recycle bin requires administrator approval even if you are the administrator
4/18/2007 4:09:23 PM
4/18/2007 4:16:52 PM
dual booting here too. u can turn off the constant authorization requests from the user accounts control panel. the recycle bin issue... i have never had that problem before.vista is a glorified version of xp, but i like it... seems faster and to a degree more stable.
