looks like it does have HID projectors. that crystal ball looking things on the outside of each headlight casing is the HID.Also killboy's Evo is heavily modified...no wonder mitsu wouldn't fix it under warranty. now i'm not saying mitsu doesn't screw people over but his would be expected not to be covered.

1/25/2007 12:31:57 PM
^^ i could've sworn HID was only available on MR, SSL, and SE.
1/25/2007 12:49:57 PM
i think you are right...but the previous owner could have done a hid swap. its quite common. OR it could have been an option he got from the dealer. next time you check out the car...turn them on and see...also you should have the head light adjustment knob/wheel in the car. It may not have the fog lights though. it has the housing but no bulbs. some evo's don't come with that.
1/25/2007 1:09:20 PM
well, the car is in Orlando...i'm all the way across the panhandle in Pensacola. i could go pick it up and drive it back if i bought it, but i'm not going out there just to look at it.
1/25/2007 1:39:58 PM
oooh gotcha...i thought you were in the same town. nvm
1/25/2007 4:20:53 PM
hmm...looks like there's a chance they'll come down to ~$26,500 on the white Evo IX. i think that if it does, in fact, have HID lights, I'll be hard pressed not to buy it if he'll agree to meet me halfway on the drive.
1/26/2007 5:32:42 PM
http://tinyurl.com/3b9m7slet's see just how badly this dude wants to sell. Evo IX, 10k miles, Buy It Now at $27,500. I made a bid that's just close enough to hopefully bait him into making me a second chance offer that I can't refuse if it doesn't sell.[Edited on January 31, 2007 at 12:12 PM. Reason : psi]
1/26/2007 10:37:08 PM
^^tell them to snap pictures of the back of the housings, wiring, etc. easy enough to tell. shouldn't be a problem if they're serious about a sale.[Edited on January 26, 2007 at 11:56 PM. Reason : .]

1/28/2007 11:14:46 PM
haha, i don't care. i'm gonna drive the shit out of it, so it doesn't matter. it's under warranty, and only has 7k miles.that price would be a pretty good deal on a base model (much less a sun/sound/leather package)...it's more than i want to spend (told myself i'd stay 24k or under), and i wasn't going to pay extra for the optional stuff, but that's a deal i don't think i can turn down.[Edited on January 28, 2007 at 11:18 PM. 1/28/2007 11:16:41 PM
does it have the quad turbo kit?
1/28/2007 11:21:21 PM
har har har
1/28/2007 11:25:58 PM
holy shit, thats a cheap evo. fuck now i want one too
1/29/2007 1:25:55 AM
I think all Evo's have Halogen projector's, I maybe wrong. The MR's automatically have HID's and IX's with the SSL package do as well. You can differentiate the SSL on the IX because it will have a moonroof. All base 8's except the RS have HID's.
1/29/2007 2:19:54 AM
^^yeah, i really wanted to find a deal like that on a base IX (not RS) and spend less money, because I really don't need the sun/sound/leather...but I don't feel like I'm likely to find another deal this good no matter how long I wait.
1/29/2007 10:02:14 AM
id click "buy it now" button if i were you.
1/29/2007 10:06:46 AM
HOLY SHIT. i just met the reserve on that SSL with a bid of $25k...called the dealer, and he offered to end the auction early for $26k.he said they move about 150 cars per month and just try to make a few hundred bucks profit on each one...they got a great deal on this one on a trade in.
1/29/2007 10:11:57 AM
i guess it's too late for "Buy it now" now.
1/29/2007 10:16:02 AM
MAN FOR 26K ID BE ALL OVER THAT. NICE DEAL!!!!!!!
1/29/2007 10:22:58 AM
yeah, just got off the phone with the bank...called the dude back, but went to voicemail. trying again in a minute._________________________________called him back; done deal. picking it up tomorrow for $26k out the door (got him to waive the $150 fee).[Edited on January 29, 2007 at 10:33 AM. sweeet....gratz duke.^haha...i love my HP+'s
1/29/2007 11:21:56 AM
well, just got home with it. the purchase was the most miserable, overcomplicated asspain of a business deal i've ever made (no fault of the dealer...he was outstanding). to make a long story short, USAA screwed me by overnighting the check for the car to my house instead of to the dealer (and I didn't find that out until I was in Atlanta--5 hours from my house in FL). it took about 5 hours (most of it spent on the phone and driving around to various banks) and a lot of smooth talking to get the money from my bank to the dealer. it was totally ridiculous.on a more positive note, the Evo is an absolutely fantastic, outstanding performance machine. most of my driving in it so far was on the interstate, but the few curvy sections of pavement i did get to tackle impressed me a LOT.oh, and i made it up to 150 mph on the way home.
1/31/2007 12:23:20 AM
pics or ban
1/31/2007 12:54:33 AM
^^sounds about like our trip for the miater.
1/31/2007 1:30:30 AM
i didnt read everything but tell me you didnt buy a white car Dukethat is the gayest thing possible
1/31/2007 10:20:48 AM
it would seem he did
1/31/2007 10:24:54 AM
a White evo with dark wheels (gunmetal/black) is the hotness!
1/31/2007 1:40:45 PM
I like that coloring wheel with the right color car and agree that the contrast between a white car and them is very nicebut the fact remains that a dude driving a white car screams gayness to the nth degree, IMOblack on black for the win, ext/int that is.. not the wheels[Edited on January 31, 2007 at 1:52 PM. 1/31/2007 1:51:46 PM
i don't see anything wrong with a white car...i think that white Evo with the dark wheels I posted was sweet.Mine is silver ext, though.^5 ...that was just because we got lost. this was a huge PITA. i got to the dealer ~5 hours from my house and found that I had no means of paying for the car. I couldn't stay overnight and do it the next day because I had to be at work this morning at 0630.
1/31/2007 2:25:07 PM
yeah. we saw some of the finer sides of D.C.
1/31/2007 4:39:57 PM
evos rock good buy.
1/31/2007 4:44:44 PM
^^ haha, at night, and with how many thousands of dollars worth of hundred-dollar bills?of course, that cash was hidden right underneath my Sig P226...which, come to think of it, could of gotten us into other trouble in DC.
1/31/2007 4:48:11 PM
lol, and that poor gm 2.8 trying to push a trooper along at triple digits on the way back.
1/31/2007 4:52:50 PM
oh whatever...I was only packing a 1.6 and I didn't have any trouble.
1/31/2007 4:56:19 PM
1/31/2007 4:57:31 PM
^I've had an STi for about a year (2005, the nice body style) and its suspension wasn't nearly that of the MR. You could feel it in the ride. Also from any STi vs Evo track vids i've seen...the STi has more understeer than the MR.
1/31/2007 5:04:12 PM
i haven't tracked either car (yet), but from driving them both around town, i prefer the handling of the Evo, and would much prefer to take it to the track. the STi (or STI, now) has stellar power delivery and powertrain, but it's not enough to make me prefer it over the Evo (which I actually find to be uglier than the STi).
