yes, im doing any interneting or tv watching
6/27/2007 2:01:21 PM
I'll avoid any and all external contact from the moment of release until I finish Deathly Hallows. That means from midnight on the 21st (probably midnight GMT to be safe) there will be no internet, no radio, no TV, and no large groups where douchebags might try to ruin things.
6/27/2007 2:50:55 PM
I will also not be on the internet or listening to much radio, def no news and very limited TV - until done. III
6/27/2007 4:08:27 PM
yeah, people who think it's cool to ruin shit piss me offI usually finish the books the weekend they come out and ignore radio, tv, internet as well
6/27/2007 5:48:59 PM
Well you might as well go ahead and start avoiding the net now. I've already had it spoiled for me by a thread in Chit Chat. Assuming that alleged hack at the publisher wasn't a hoax, which hopefully it is.
6/27/2007 5:51:50 PM
Great. Guess I'll go ahead and limit my TWW use to sports talk for the next month
6/27/2007 5:54:56 PM
^^ can you pm me the info or a link (I'm the kind of kid that would always look for the presents in oct)[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 6:34 PM. Reason : and I bet it isn't ture but would be good for a laugh]
6/27/2007 6:34:01 PM
^^^ the general consensus is that the 'leaked/hacked' spoilers are a hoax.

Interesting read...I could see that happening...Why haven't I heard of this mugglenet before? Good website...I've been reading the-leaky-cauldron.org
7/10/2007 10:13:27 AM
I'll throw another site out therehttp://www.Veritaserum.com
7/10/2007 10:22:24 AM
I stumbled across this Harry Potter site recently. It's quite NSFW in fact. No rumors, just smut. I found it a little too over the top, but I thought you TWWers might like it If I were to read dirty stories, it would not have these characters in it...http://www.restrictedsection.org[Edited on July 10, 2007 at 11:35 AM. So what's to stop Voldemort from creating more horcruxes to replace the ones that are destroyed... other than the lack of knowledge that they have been destroyed that is? Why stop with 7? etc.
7/10/2007 12:03:54 PM
Because "7 is the most powerfully magic number"
7/10/2007 12:07:01 PM
Also, in book 6, Dumbledore tells Harry that voldemort may not know when the horcruxes are destroyed. I'm sure he knows about the diary, since Lucius Malfoy was part of the plan to get it into Hogwarts. However, there is no hint or mention if he knows about the ring being destroyed. He may not even know that Dumbledore has discovered his secret.. Dumbledore also mentions that he is probably too caught up on his own ego to even go and check on the horcruxes to see if they are still intact. This is further backed up by the fact that the locket was replaced by R.A.B (possibly regulus). There is no telling how long the fake locket has remained there and it does not look like Voldemort knows it was replaced yet. Also, everytime a horcrux is created, it rips your soul. Voldemort's body has been deformed and his soul torn to bits from being ripped so many times. Even if he wanted to make more horcruxes, his body may not be able to handle it. The main reason is mentioned above, 7 is the most powerful magical number, etc...[Edited on July 10, 2007 at 1:27 PM. Reason : yep]
7/10/2007 1:24:49 PM
Yeah, well like I said, if there were 7 and they know the diary is destroyed it sounds like it's time to make another... so there will be 7 again. So it sounds like the main reason is because making more would stretch Voldemort too thin.[Edited on July 10, 2007 at 1:39 PM. Reason : -]
7/10/2007 1:36:08 PM
Well, also in book 6, Dumbledore tells Harry that Voldemort knew the risk of having the diary destroyed. He was cocky and willing to let that happen, since he knew he had 5 left. (5 items, and himself). What he didn't bet on was someone figuring out that he had not only used it to possess ginny, but it was also a horcrux. That is why Dumbledore was so persistent to Harry for retrieving the horcrux memory from Slughorn. But all in all, he doesn't want to tear his soul apart anymore and he is too cocky to imagine all of them being destroyed.[Edited on July 10, 2007 at 2:00 PM. 7/10/2007 1:59:21 PM
^ That's speculation and not the actual content of the text. Though, it's probably near the truth.^^ Dumbledore said that fracturing of the soul had no impact on the magical ability of the person. Thus, in theory (not that such things apply to pretend worlds), Voldemort could create Horcruxes ad infinitum.
7/10/2007 2:26:46 PM
Heh, I just found out my bosses and I are all going to the same place at midnight on Friday to pick up the new book. That would be akward, waiting in line with my bosses for several hours for a Harry Potter book. I hope he dresses up, that would be great
7/13/2007 10:21:49 AM
^ Unless you have social issues, there's not much wierd about that. Welcome to the biggest publishing event in history.
7/13/2007 1:53:24 PM
Well, it's not social issues, more like... I can't believe the three stuffy attorneys I work with are going to the midnight release of this book, and one is discussing dressing up.
7/13/2007 2:05:42 PM
^what book store is this?
7/13/2007 2:08:34 PM
it's the Barnes and Noble in Greensboro. They have a pretty good system. I've gone there every year to get them. People who have preordered are usually out by 1 or 2am. There are plenty of books for the others who didn't preorder, and it actually doesn't take them that long to get out either.[Edited on July 13, 2007 at 2:12 PM. Reason : s]
7/13/2007 2:12:04 PM
the B&N in cary is doing this...if you preordered your book, you arrive at 4PM to get your wristband.. . festivities including food, music, contests, etc... start at 7PM. Then at midnight, those with a wristband get their books first
7/13/2007 4:09:09 PM
Hmm, I didn't know about that. I'll have to check with our B&N and see if I need to get off of work early.Edit: I just checked with my store, and they said they start handing out wrist bands at 9am-4pm. Then you have to come back at 6pm in the evening. She said even with the wrist band you will still have your spot held in line, but there will be some issues with fire code. So, if you aren't there early, you may not be let in the building anyways, regardless of wrist bands. [Edited on July 13, 2007 at 4:24 PM. Reason : ...]

Once again, my policy for TWW spoilers:If anybody posts something that may be a spoiler, whether it's a link to another site, text, whatever, in this thread or any other thread except a thread made specifically for spoilers, I will suspend you immediately. I'll take the time to sort it all out on Sunday or Monday, and I won't unsuspend you period unless it was a complete accident.
7/14/2007 7:51:26 PM
I doubt you have anything to worry about untill friday, J.K. has got that shit locked up
7/14/2007 8:03:49 PM
Yeah, most likely, but even after Friday I don't want people ruining the book for others.
7/14/2007 8:07:45 PM
at least i made my photos small and said that they were spoilers
7/14/2007 8:11:21 PM
^^^^^ That threads needs to get gone else you can kiss TWW goodby. Scholastic's lawyers will not play around.
7/15/2007 1:39:20 AM
^ seriously, the images themselves need to be taken off of the server... Scholastic's lawyers have shown a willingness to go to great lengths to prevent leaks and to try and punish those responsible...
7/15/2007 12:43:59 PM
seriously...just cause i think this book is gay doesnt give someone the right to get tww shut down
7/15/2007 12:47:22 PM
i found them on the internet, what are they gonna due. sue me for browsing 4chan?
7/15/2007 7:36:36 PM
anyone know if you can still pre-order the book Friday (before midnight) at Barnes and Noble? I'm broke and get paid on Friday, but I want my book Saturday at 12:01.
7/15/2007 9:28:37 PM
You don't have to pay anything to preorder with B&N. So, no money is necessary until Friday at midnight. I'd call tomorrow if I were you though.
7/15/2007 9:39:34 PM
Why would anyone bother picking it up from B&N? When book 6 came out I reserved it with them and had my name put in the system. When it came time to pick the book up they had no record of it at all. Stupid fucks.I went by Walmart to buy supplies to blow up their store but I found a stack of them by the door.
7/15/2007 10:31:30 PM
Yeah, I think the best choice was what I did a few years ago. Walmart is usually a 24 hour place. If you head in around 3am, everyone is gone, and you can get the book without the line... or you know, wait until the next morning.
7/16/2007 7:05:01 AM
Do u get discount at Walmart? III

7/16/2007 11:48:07 AM
Yeah I know that, but can I pick up the book myself that night or a couple hours after it is released if I pre order? or do I have to wait for mail. III
7/16/2007 4:47:10 PM
the last day to preorder and have the book shipped to your house on saturday is tonight. I got an email from barnes and noble today about it. I'm just gonna walk into walmart and pick it up. I've never had a problem of not finding the book (given that I only bought book 6 and I was in boone so...)
7/16/2007 4:49:38 PM
you can probably walk in and get one easy last time they had a huge stack on release day (like a whole pallet load)
7/16/2007 4:53:15 PM
I don't want to pay full price at walmart...I want the pre-order price and early pick up lol...am I being greedy? III
7/16/2007 4:56:55 PM
um the price at walmart is not bad at all..its around $19 or something
7/16/2007 4:59:26 PM
Oh then I am just out of the loop. All the other book stores have a price of about 36 or more...if thats the case then I will just go to walmart about 2/3 or so avoid big rush and just pick up they book... III
