^This is true. But for me, I don't give a crap about a candidates sex, religion, sexual orientation, color, etc. I care about policies and views.Do that many people really give a shit about the other stuff?
12/20/2006 12:39:24 PM
yes, cause most people aren't intelligent college grads/students. 80% of people in the country are fucking idiots.
12/20/2006 12:45:52 PM
I will grant you that 80% of people are idiots. But are 80% sexist/racist? I would figure they'd be selfish enough to pick the best person (in their opinion) for the job.
12/20/2006 12:47:48 PM
^ they have studies on ppl voting based on how someone looks, i doubt sexism/racism is beyond them.

you brought back a month old thread to post completely irrelevant links to john edwards?
1/11/2007 8:35:28 AM
this thread has held the most recent Edwards discussion, the thread was less than a month old, and the link is in response to last nights presidential address.and well, you just bumped it too[Edited on January 11, 2007 at 11:55 AM. i probably won't vote for president again until someone worth voting for exists. such is the pitiful state of our country

Barack Obama is the antichristthat said, i would vote 4 him[Edited on January 18, 2007 at 1:29 AM. Reason : ^^ lmfao i saw that on tv]
1/18/2007 1:18:45 AM
obama seems to be getting a lot of support, and im a pragmatist so id vote for him
1/18/2007 10:47:19 AM
Have any of you read his book? I'm reading it now, he is very well spoken. I'd love to hear him in a few debates.
1/18/2007 11:09:56 PM
^ I'm reading his book now. It's really compelling. Got it for Xmas from my wife. I gave her Jimmy Carter's book. Xmas was at my dad's house, and he's a big Rush Limbaugh/Bill O'Reilly fan... i made him take our picture togetehr holding the books. Man, I tell ya, he tried his best to not look like he just stepped in dogshit.Anyhow, i think Barack can win. I'll vote for him. the real fight is gonna be in the primaries. I think I'm gonna volunteer for his campaign I do not like Hillary Clinton, and I don't think she can win. I also hope to god John Fucking Kerry sits the hell down and keeps his yap shut.[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 1:10 AM. Reason : ]

So here's what that clip says to me: Hillary is the real threat, so we're gonna reveal this dastardly thing she said in order to hurt her chances of winning the nomination, since Obama is sure to lose in the general election.
1/19/2007 4:32:25 PM
HE DIDNT MENTION IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a piece of shit. we cant trust this guy to even be in the senate. let alone the white house.
1/19/2007 4:48:07 PM
No, I will not vote for Obama, Clinton, Edwards, or anyone else the Dems are currently looking at. Obama may be the lesser of these three evils, but I don't really care.I think that they are planning a blunder of biblical proportions if they put Hillary on the ballot.Although the Repubs aern't doing anything either. Just some mutterings by McCain (fuck him) and Guliani (fuck him too).Centrists don't exist in these days of partisan politics, no matter what someone says on the campaign trail on CNN's cameras. [Edited on January 19, 2007 at 6:04 PM. Reason : .]
1/19/2007 6:00:47 PM

1/19/2007 6:05:40 PM
I wonder if he is a Tancredo or Gingrich supporter
1/19/2007 6:07:55 PM
^^no, I'm not a centrist. If I tried to convince anyone of that, I'd be lying to myself. And I'm not particularly enamored of Tancredo or Gingrich either.Although Gengrich isn't THAT bad.
1/19/2007 7:20:15 PM
Oh and one other thing: I find it hilarious how highly people prioritize being "well spoken" as a qualification for POTUS. Yes, being articulate can get someone really far in life. But the only thing that really matters is someone's principles and beliefs. And honesty. Bill Clinton was extremely eloquent and articulate, but he also lied under oath and sold military secrets to the Chinese, among a whole bunch of other shit that pissed me off. Eloquence made this man great at talking his way out of potentially bad personal and political situations stemming from his indiscretions. Some of the things he did while in the oval office were merely illustrations of how much Americans will put up with just so long as the economy is strong. That is in fact one of the things I like about our current president. He may not be particularly well spoken, but he will make his beliefs and principles known, and stand up for them, every time. Even if he knows a lot of people will disagree with him, he's still honest about it.I know folks will jump all over me for this, but I voted for him in 2000 and 2004, and if third terms were allowed, I'd vote for him again without hesitation.[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 7:31 PM. 1/19/2007 7:26:34 PM
that you would vote for bush again destroys any chance of anyone taking you seriouslycereal
1/19/2007 7:40:15 PM
^^ Because standing up for your beliefs when 70% of the country you are WORKING FOR disagrees with you is an outstanding characteristic.

A President needs to be well-spoken.Chief of StateChief ExecutiveChief DiplomatCommander-In-ChiefChief LegislatorChief of PartyEconomic LeaderThree of the seven are nothing but eloquence. It plays a vital role in all the others. Presidents should be chosen from a pool of well-spoken people. You can't tell me that there weren't more-qualified and better-spoken people for the job in 2000 and 2004. When a Spanish diplomat can't tell if our President has a speech impediment or a learning disability, it's bad. When he oftentimes can't fulfill his job requirements at home because people find it so difficult to take him seriously, it's bad. You should care about this; look at the bang-up job he did as party leader last year.[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 10:13 PM. Reason : .]

Staying the course in spite of popular opinion is fine.Staying the course in spite of reality is another. STC for STC's sake is not standing up for what you believe in; it's stubbornness.
1/19/2007 10:18:53 PM
ok, i don't recall saying anything about Iraq in particular,(which I am torn on) just talking about polls and popularitythe media tries to make popular opinion the driving force of being a politicianit's good to be "in tune" with the people, but it's also important do to whats necesssary even if it's not popular... chances are pretty good that a large portion of the population isn't gonna agree with you anyhow

not to give in to another thread changing topic but..."I think the public opinion and public support is a very important part of this" That was Tony Snow's response when asked about public support for the escalation. You might say that public opinion should be trumped by doing what is necessary. But they are the elected representatives of the people. And at a certain point they have to give in to public opinion.
1/19/2007 11:18:06 PM
I would not vote for Barack Obama. He has hardly any experience. How do we know he will not crumble when things get rough with Iran and Korea. and did Fox really say not to vote for Obama because he smokes cigars?

1/19/2007 11:55:38 PM
How the fuck can you say that North Korea abandoned its nuclear missile program under Clinton when they were testing nuclear bombs and firing missiles just a few years later? They just had the program under wraps while Clinton looked the other way.

What worked? What the fuck are you talking about? You really think that North Korea stopped working on it's missiles in the 90's?

I'm glad that you pussies aren't in office. Kim Jong is a typical blustering bully who gets his way by threatening his neighbors. "Bribing" him isn't gonna make him stop, it'll only make him more greedy.
1/20/2007 12:03:01 AM
clintons plan was working better than bushs has^well then you might want to talk to bush, cause we have pretty much agreed to briber him again. and lets see what ignoring him has gotten us: oh yeah, testing a nuclear weapon! gg bush![Edited on January 20, 2007 at 12:04 AM. Reason : .]
