^and they are probably not going to win a game for the rest of the season02/8 at No. 9 Oregon 02/10 at Oregon State 02/15 No. 5 UCLA 02/18 USC 02/25 No. 22 Arizona 03/1 at Stanford 03/3 at California i would say USC is their best shot since it is home, but they just knocked off oregon and are looking good.[Edited on February 5, 2007 at 2:20 PM. 2/5/2007 2:18:58 PM
USC's a damn good team. ASU would really have to catch them on an off night to sneak out a win.
2/5/2007 2:19:39 PM
Yeah, they've missed a lot of chances for a conference win and they don't have a good shot left.
2/5/2007 4:01:53 PM
medium, what the fuck?how many times did we go to the ncaa dance when Les was here? how far did we go in the ACC?how many mcdonalds all americans did we get when les was here?are you midly retarded or just plain ole dumb as dirt?b/c when i was in school in the 90s, we fucking sucked.herb did huge things for NCSU getting us back on the map and a trip to the sweet 16so, shut the fuck up unless you can prove me other wise, and you cant...so how about sticking dicks in your mouth to block all that bullshit i keep hearing[Edited on February 5, 2007 at 4:06 PM. 2/5/2007 4:05:21 PM
You're right. Wow, one sweet 16, a handful of early exits, and a better performance than Les. Fucking huge. Almost as huge as 0-6 against Roy Williams and having like 2 players that sometimes get NBA playing time. If the man could do huge things for our program, he'd still be here. The end. He wasn't good enough. We got someone better. I don't hate the man, but I'm not going to pretend he was worth keeping in our program.
2/5/2007 4:19:41 PM
and the winner is.. gunzzon the grounds that all of Shiv's points qualify him as borderline retarded.I wanted him gone, but I'm not gonna act like he didn't pull our program up out of the dumpster.[Edited on February 5, 2007 at 4:23 PM. Reason : fhds]
2/5/2007 4:20:52 PM
It amazes me how fucking dense people are to what Herb did for this program.Lowe is the man, but he hasnt proven he can do what Herb did here yet.
2/5/2007 4:22:02 PM
Lowe has proven he can beat Roy WilliamsI was never one of the vocal "Fire Herb" guys...ever...I appreciated the improvement of our program from the gloomy days of the mid 90s...and I never blamed Herb when good recruits like Josh Powell and Ced Simmons decided to leave school earlyBut look at Sendek...he has ZERO CONFERENCE WINS this season...he is clearly not having a good year at all...I think Herb helped our program but got us about as far as he could...I mean I wish him the best but he sucks ass this year...Sid is coming off back-to-back ranked wins...Sid actually got our players motivated to play UNC competitively and come away with a win.Has Sid made a bunch of tournaments like Herb? No of course not...but at least he gives a shit about the UNC game(s)
2/5/2007 4:27:43 PM
2/5/2007 4:33:18 PM
the program pulled itself out of the dumpster. all he did was stunt the growth with his princeton offense. we could have been where we are now 5 years ago with any other average coach. its ncstate.

2/5/2007 4:39:18 PM
2/5/2007 4:42:22 PM
^i think the name got us these players. Its really moot because our team was loaded as hell last year and we've had alot of talent come through but herb never did much at all with it. last year was pathetic. herb is an average coach and would be good at an academic or midmajor program because thats the only time his offense might do the program some good but he will NEVER have a top notch team with that offense.
2/5/2007 4:42:40 PM
So NC State, a school with countless NCAA apperances and 2 Nat'l Championships is the same level as Arizona State who has never won anything? Also, we have McDonald's AAs and top 100 recruits, they have Jeff Pendergraph. Wow.[Edited on February 5, 2007 at 4:48 PM. Reason : This thread is not about NC State]
2/5/2007 4:48:12 PM
oh historically we are leaps and bounds above arizona statebut history doesnt mean a lot if you've seen state over the past 20 years when we sucked more often than notand history doesnt have anything to do with writers picking us to finish last in the ACC...oh and we have dennis horner this year...herb took the other recruitspoint is, sid and herb are both in SIMILAR situations...first year at a new school...somebody elses players...tough conference..."lowe" expectations...but Sid has beaten a couple ranked teams back to back...Herb cant win a conference gameand honestly...do you think we would've had a prayer on Saturday with Herb coaching?

2/11/2007 3:13:50 PM
^well, looks like NCSU and ASU will have something in common then....

packboozieyou want a real actual comparison of Herb vs. Sid, in his first full year of recruiting here Sid has the 11th best recruiting class in the nation coming in, with the same facilities, same guy in charge of recruiting (Larry Harris), and no, I repeat NO college head coaching experience. Also in six tries against a Roy coached UNX team Herb lost, and last year he had more talent and the longer bench.I don't hate Herb, in fact I'm glad he was here. But he had a horrible record against Duke and UNC and didn't tie in our tradition to our players (and yes I think having guys around that won national championships here talking with the players does help). I can't thank him enough for getting us this far, but that was all he could do. In ten years no ACC basketball coach has failed to win an ACC championship or a National Title except Herb. Herb thanks for coming by but I think that we're both better off.
2/11/2007 5:14:09 PM
^ I agree with you for the most part..but to be fair to Herb the 2005 class was the 11th best in the nation. This year Sid has the 19th best class (both via Scout.com) but he did it in a very small timeframe, which is awesome.I'm looking forward to seeing what Sid has in store for us longterm though...

meh[Edited on February 11, 2007 at 5:21 PM. Reason : q.]
2/11/2007 5:19:33 PM
^^ sorry old source, but I guess that scout.com doesn't take into account Marques Johnson, the UTenn transfer, he didn't play a whole season this year and is now taking classes at NCSU [Herb couldn't get him here by the way]and I'm guessing that he's the reason why Sid didn't go after a pt guard harder for this class, he had a spot[Edited on February 11, 2007 at 5:28 PM. 2/11/2007 5:27:30 PM
Okay so now recruiting rankings = the better coach?I have never compared Herb to Lowe. Why are you implying that? I am defending Herb in saying that he has shit to work with. Lowe is in a MUCH better situation. It was said that both coaches were in similar situations, when really they are not similar at all. Herb's recruiting class for 2007 is ranked top 25 by much of the experts....its really on the same level ours is.
2/11/2007 5:29:58 PM
Wells-Fargo Arena in Tempe has a larger logo on mid-court than does the RBC Centerthat's how Herb got such a good '07 class
2/12/2007 6:05:25 AM
^^ so would you go on record as saying that we would be better off if Herb was still here or is this academic?
2/17/2007 2:31:04 AM
^ i'll go on record and say that we'd have a losing record right now if herb was still here. believe it. i love sidney lowe, herb is okay.
2/17/2007 2:39:09 AM
does scout.com work for ya?http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=9&c=14&yr=2007
2/17/2007 3:26:34 AM
the only reason herb has us beat is that he got one more player
2/17/2007 3:41:38 AM
^yeah, but that ranking also doesn't include Boateng.[Edited on February 17, 2007 at 8:51 AM. Reason : of course, ours is missing Degand and Johnson]
2/17/2007 8:48:34 AM
^ ours doesn't include Farnold Degand or Marques Johnson. All right I guess the only way to solve this is to create an alternate timeline where Herb stays and compare the two (or they could just put Arizona State on the schedule)
2/17/2007 10:24:35 AM

3/8/2007 1:40:30 AM
now he's 11-3 all time in 1st round conference tournament games
3/8/2007 1:48:31 AM
Now hes 35-4 in choking away games.
3/8/2007 2:19:24 AM
that post makes no fucking sense and you shoudl let it go
3/8/2007 8:51:15 AM
i'm sure herb's happy to have that first nightmare season over and in the past.
