damn, what crappy seats. looks like you had a decent hit in the rear, but they shouldn't have done that. unless you both weight 300-400lbs. or something.[Edited on February 26, 2007 at 9:59 PM. Reason : THREE]

Well we were doing just shy of 100mph when we went into the spin (which lasted about 1.5 secs on wet pavement), and then another 20 feet of grass into the wall. I'd guess impact speed to be around 85 mph. It was a very hard hit, and two flips.Ahmet
2/27/2007 1:02:37 AM
and this was while you were instructing someone? give us all the details plz we like crashes.
2/27/2007 1:07:53 AM
You just told me 10mph into the spin
2/27/2007 1:15:56 AM
I was instructing this guy, and he's actually quite a good driver. In his log book I wrote that he had great car control and was particularly good at correcting oversteer (we'd been out in the wet prior to this). Coming out of 3, through the lower S' as well as coming out of 9 he would correct for throttle oversteer very well. I thought if anything he was driving conservatively. I was doing 15-20 mph faster on the straights than him on my (actualy Derrick's) Azenis with half thread or so, but I was having to make constant minute adjustments. Anyway, so it seemed like his speed was acceptable (full thread Michelin Pilot all seasons). On to the particulars of this incident:He was maintaining speed at 97mph or so, the car was very stable, and was about half way down the back straight. The rear end snapped, he had no time at all to react. It was terrifying to be approaching a wall at that speed. Within less than 3 seconds we had an impact from the rear. The car flipped hood over tires and landed with the driver's front fender, then slowly rolled onto the passanger side (the "bottom" of the car now against the tires). I had no perception of the speed after the initial impact, even though I could see and hear everything fine. I did not have a reference point either, all I could see was the sky. I would guess that the car was not moving at more than 10mph after the initial impact and the front end of the car lifting up. The driver was unconcious for some time, with his extremities hanging towards the passenger side. I was somewhat anxious to get out, but waited for the safety crew. I tried to speak to him, it was eery until he started to regain conciousness. I told him there wasn't anything he could've done, that it was sudden, etc. I'll admit this makes me a little squirmish, because we could've hit the wall w/the side of the car instead of the rear, etc. not to mention that I would've been going almost 20mph faster in Derrick's car had I spun, it could've been that much worse for me. The driver was released from the hospital with a broken bone, I've been in touch with him, and am glad to say that he's doing well, and intends to continue doing what he's been doing (in the market for another M3 ).I am in a LOT of pain, but doinig OK as well. It's actually been getting quite a bit worse the last few hours.Ahmet
2/27/2007 1:29:17 AM
yikes. glad to hear it wasnt worse
2/27/2007 10:02:55 AM

the latest GRM issue shows the beginning of their SpecE30 project.Their car ('89 325i) lost 324lbs in a day. not too shabby. they have a breakdown of all the weights of various parts, etc.

3/29/2007 11:19:04 AM
^yeah, it makes a world of a difference!!!all you e30 owners should check out http://www.nceuro.org We have monthly meets in the Traingle area. One comin up this Tuesday as a matter of fact! (sadly im the only e30 ever there!)

14" basketweaves ftw
3/29/2007 11:48:41 AM
^want to buy em?btw, e30 peeps. I'm looking to sell my 14" IS weaves in GREAT shape w/ GREAT center caps with GREAT tires (Falkein Zeix 512s w/ about 300 miles + 3 autox days on them).I'd trade for bottle caps (and money), too.
3/29/2007 12:34:40 PM
answer my question DANIEL
3/29/2007 1:11:51 PM
a friend sent it to me from the last autox. ill ask if he has any of you
3/29/2007 1:24:33 PM
i am good thanks, already got a set of the exact tires/rims you are offering
3/29/2007 1:40:52 PM
DannyDigital...How much for the basketweaves +tires?I have four bottlecaps to trade, but one is slightly bent. Holds air and seems to balance out pretty good.I could still use a spare rim/tire if anyone has a single they want to sell. I can get rubber for it if it is just a plain wheel.[Edited on March 29, 2007 at 5:00 PM. Reason : a]
3/29/2007 4:59:55 PM
i don't want the bent one.. find a new one.. theyre only $25 what tires are on them?
3/30/2007 12:48:35 PM
Goodyear. I'd have to check the model. They'd be junk if you want to auto-x it. Not as sticky as the Ziex 512's that I had. I could always keep the bent one as the spare. I don't know where I'd find another bottlecap though.

Moving out, and I've got a bunch of miscellaneous e30 shit laying around. Front/rear set of i stock sways/linkage, a few rotors, an easily repairable oil pan, a set of stock downpipes, and two black factory pleather seats. Anyone interested?
4/17/2007 3:27:24 PM
4/17/2007 7:39:19 PM
yeah, they changed the body a little in 88. they changed the engine in 87 to the i. hence why you cant really put 89-91 bumpers on 87 and older.on a side note: my car is pissing gas, the rubber hose next to the fuel filter finally decided it was ready to retire. on it is the date 10-88.

Anybody want some tan leather (real IS leather) seats? I have front recaro IS seats and the rear seats that gotta go.Back seats are in fair condition, a little cracky, but not bad at all. passenger's side front is livable. driver's front has a rip in the seat bottom and could probably use a re-cover.I also have some trunk carpeting thats about perfect.
4/23/2007 9:52:10 PM
i might be able to piece your drivers seat together with mine to make one decent seat. mine the side bolsters are coming all apart but the seat seems decent.
4/24/2007 2:57:21 AM
that might work. i think the bolsters are in decent shape. cracked im sure, but no tears or rips.you can have the whole shabang (all seats, and trunk carpet if you want it) for $50
4/24/2007 10:06:49 AM
someone should buy this:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=260108989949apparently if you swap out the hardware w/ good stuff, it works like a champ. id buy it but i'm shooting to be spece30 legal :/
4/24/2007 10:54:18 AM
Help e30 peeps I'm scouting for a project car i was wondering the IX models.... would they be a decent candidate for a turbo build or would i be breaking drivetrain bits all the time?
4/24/2007 8:18:35 PM
they are overpriced, unless you really have a hankering for awd you will be able to get an is in better condition for less money
4/24/2007 8:42:39 PM
i <3 awd but if it breaks 24/7 i don't want that either
4/24/2007 10:12:58 PM
no m50 swap=not worth it.
4/25/2007 11:01:30 AM
i think the problem w/ the IXs is that parts are getting harder to find and its not a real robust system to begin with.
4/25/2007 12:37:00 PM
s50 b32 swap into an e30 is the plan... i'm just starting research now though so if anyone has any info it would be appreciatedlike what is a bmw friendly stand-alone ems?i know cartech makes a turbo manifold for them thats about all i know
4/25/2007 2:10:56 PM
what kind of gas mileage do all of you E30 pplz get?
4/25/2007 2:15:41 PM
hahah whatever they want...from what i read e30s are like the euro fox bodyspeople have put any and every engine they can get their hands on in one.from sr20s to bimmer v12s to a ls7
4/25/2007 4:13:22 PM
around town driving spiritedly(is that the word i am looking for?) 16-17 mpg, highway 25 mpg
