Haha.. the NL West must be atrocious if this team won it. Good god. If the Mets win tonight there isn't a shot in hell they aren't going to the World Series.

Jeff fucking Weaver is shutting down the NL West champs. My God. This guy got lit up like a xmas tree in BOTH leagues and he shut down the Padres..

as much as i always look for reasons in how the Yankees lost a game, how they lost it, not how they were beat...

good gods, how the fuck are you supposed to hit a middle relief pitcher who throws 103mph? Seriously were was this bullpen D-troit during the whole month of September?
There was no way we were going to win that game with 2 pitchers throwing 100+ meatballs right passed us.

Well on to today and Kenny Rogers. Must win.

The question is whether or not Randy Johnson will lay an egg. He has been terrible lately, blew game 3 of the playoffs last season, is 2-7 lifetime in the division series, has a herniated disc, and is 44 years old.

doesnt bode well.

On the other hand, the yankees offense is still awesome, they just didnt hit with guys on base yesterday.

we're still here. it's become clear that you cannot put a lineup of sluggers together and expect to win. the yankees need pitching.

next season's rotation:

Wang
empty
empty
empty
empty

Zito? Hughes? Pavan-ouch?

yeah, the loss pretty much cemented that zito won't be a met next year

The Mets can't compete with a pissed off George payroll wise. Too bad, the Mets would have had a badass young rotation next year too.

Glavine
Zito
Maine
Pelfrey
Humber (or El Duque)

It wouldn't shock me to see the Mets acquire Dontrelle for Milledge, Heilman, + in the offseason though..

"Tigers over Yankees 3-2

There is no rationale in this pick. I just want the Yankees to lose. No World Series rings since Clinton was President continues for this team.

Twins over A's 3-0

The Twins have been awesome non-stop for five months.

Mets over Dodgers 3-1

I just think the Mets are a better team than the last month shows and that the Dodgers just aren't that good.

Padres over Cardinals 3-2

The Cardinals' late skid and injuries hurts their psyche and the Padres will take care of them.

Tigers over Twins 4-3

Classic ALCS will be fought by these two teams that fought all season.

Mets over Padres 4-2

Will be workmanlike.

Tigers over Mets 4-2

Who had Detroit in March?"

2 for 4 is not bad and I still have my World Series picks remaining. I saw a couple on the first page that got every series wrong.

I'll stick with the Tigers and the Mets.

I got OAK and NYM still..

Now that the Yanks are gone I think the Mets will win it all... That offense and bullpen is easily the best left and if they can get any kind of starting pitching they are the best team..

Haha so just about everyone missed 2 of the 4 series.

I like how the Twins and Yankees were locks almost and picked by just about everybody.

I got this:

Cards over Mets in 7. Mets pitching is about = to the Cards now and that is BAD. Pujols MVP again.

As over Tigers in 7. As have homefield and deserve to finally go far in this thing. Tigers are too young.

Tigers in 6

^^ you think Carpenter will pitch Game 2 or 3? Game 2 will be a bit short rest and if he pitches like he did tonight early against a team with a great offense he'd be down 6 before the end of the first..

V ah, ok.. probably smart. Carpenter needs to be at his sharpest.. he worries me... a lot.

Carpenter won't be ready till game 3 at home, then maybe game 7 if it goes that far.

I would guess it would be Weaver for game 1 and Reyes/Marquis for game 2. Then Carp in 3 and Suppan in 4.

V Yeah I know, but I still have faith. I said Suppan in game 4 because he is much better at home but will likely be ready for game 2 in NY.

I'm sticking with my page 1 prediction in the ALCS of Tigers over A's in 6. I picked the Padres in the NL though, so now I'll go with Mets over Cards in 4.

BTTT for game one ALCS.

Zito versus Robertson.

Who yall got? I like Oakland with their ace on the mound and Detriot to suffer from beating the Yanks.

Winner of tonight's game wins the series I believe.

Should be a good game, both Weaver and Glavine have been outstanding.

I wish Pujols had been healthy this series....or is that an excuse for him not knocking in runs?

I've lost an awful lot of respect for Mr. Pujols. So far he has cursed out reporters in NYC preceding Game 1, flipped a chair into a reporter after Game 1, and said that Tom Glavine was not good at all after he completely shut down the team. I'm seriously questioning how bad this injury actually is. To me it feels like a cop out, but I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt I guess.

Beltran has been playing with a twinged quad and a strained abdominal muscle since the playoffs began yet you never hear him saying anything about it and you see him busting his ass on every play..

http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/columnists.nsf/bryanburwell/story/F7934A0ACA0197ED8625720A0015E4AE?OpenDocument

A not to flattering comparison which shows me I'm not crazy for thinking this.

^ damn I never realized that Pujols was such a prick. Maybe the pressure just gets to him or something. His comments about Glavine are just pathetic though - dude's a hall of famer so stop acting like he pulled a Jeff Suppan.
