I cant wait for this movie to come out
Ive always been interested in Greek and roman history and cant wait for this movie
The battle is the classic example of glory in battle and the honor in dying while fighting to protect your people.
they fought so bravely that the Persian army lost all taste for battle and were completely demoralized
they were very quickly defeated by Sparta afterward.

most modern historians state that the Persian army lost 20,000 men
of those losses i'm not sure how many were killed on the third day of battle against the 300 spartan but it had to be several thousand at least i suspect. someone somewhere might know but i just know the total loss. that in itself that 300 spartans and 700 thespians can beat so many is amazing they were very well trained.

just coming up on the end of the story, and it's enough to rip your heart out - it does as good a job as can be expected of illustrating the culture behind the Spartan image while explaining the mentality of the warrior better than anything I've ever read

hopefully it doesn't fantasize things up too much

i loved Sin City because of the way it was "filmed."

i will be seeing this movie on opening night. i don't know much about Frank Miller's work, but the methods the directors who adapt his stories adopt to capture its likeness (going on Sin City), is visually stunning to me. the power of color, i guess.
