I bet Josh#'s has a chalk board next to his computer, and he puts a check under the PWNT column when he wins on the internets. He also has another column right next to his PWNT column, designated as the I SCORED column, which for some reason, has no checks.

I joke

Why is he wrong for hoping someone would bend the rules for him? He was wrong to EXPECT it. I agree he maybe should be disappointed, but not mad. However, I would agree that someone probably bent the rules for the teacher along the way. It could have been as far back as preschool but it probably happened. Hell I've missed tests (my final exam even) because I overslept. Even though that was my fault, I woulda been disappointed if I couldn't make them up. What class is this by the way?

yeah, it's a low-level nuke class...just havent taken it yet due to scheduling complications, i've taken classes way above it already and done fine. kinda silly i have to go back and take it, it'd be like a senior in ECE having to go back and take E101...

the test is 20% and the bonus stuff is just random things he says in class...little things to look up outside of class and turn in for extra credit, no actual designated percentage but it helps toward "participation"

nothing wrong with trying to take the test before/after the trip. if they say no, then move on.

he was wrong here:

"but I honestly don't see the problem"

and here:

"pull a bitch move and involve any outside sources (his higher-ups/associates, my folks"

and here:

he's not giving you a zero, you are choosing to take a zero.

like i said before (now i can't blame you for not reading the whole thread, it's gotten long/stupid), i wanted to be honest from the start, and except for this professor, it didn't go unappreciated

^ i'd rather get it out of the way, but i'll talk to him and see what my chances of getting an A are with a 0 for this test. I suggested to him that he just null the test and double the weight of the next one, but he hasnt gotten back to me on that.

The moral of this story isn't moral at all, simply lie in the future.

People will only understand, when they are made to understand.

Quote :

and see, the whole "being honest" thing isnt conditional, you aren't entitled to a reward just for "being honest"

im sure your honesty was appreciated by the professor, he just simply saw no reason to oblige you

Naw, you put all your money on 22 BLACK.

Use the winnings to fly back for the test, then back to vegas.

Winning big in Vegas is more important than this professor and your grade.

I think you and I both know what you need to do.

This pretty much solidified my opinion of your behavior in this situation.

Who the fuck do you think you are, actually asking him to change his grading system for you?

Go to Vegas and hope that when grade time comes around, he cuts you some slack...that's how the game works.

So you're going to gamble with your grade that will effect your graduating on time so you can gamble for a few days in Vegas.

That's bullshit, if he does that for you he should do that for everyone in the class that doesn't do well on the test.

I wish you could go back in time and make it so you can celebrate your bday a little later during Fall Break but oh well. Good luck on bringing your grade up with bonus work and have fun in vegas

I stopped reading after the first page, but I would:

1) Go on the trip and don't think another second about the test until you return.
2) Learn the information if necessary for the final, because if you handle this with class and suck it up and do the work despite your circumstances, he could surprise you at the end of the semester if you go to him and say, look, I know all this material.
3) If you are not satisfied, email his boss at the end of the semester explaining his inflexibility, especially the part about his unwillingness to let you take the test early when you notified him almost a month in advance of your needs.
4) It's Vegas, and as a graduate I can say one class has no influence that should cause you to mess up an awesome trip for your 21st birthday. Stop thinking about this and go have a good time or you will regret it.

I know it would be inconvinient because of the other people in your family, but if there any way you can fly back before them? Maybe get a red-eye and be back in Raleigh to take the test that day? Doing semi-shitty on it might be better than taking the zero. Too bad you were honest - you could've said it was a wedding or something (among the other possible lies posted).

Could you take it with another professor who might be nicer if there's more than one section open? It's too bad this is such a crappy situation for you!
