I have to admit, it was months after I started reading TWW before I figured out what "set em up" meant.I thought it was a beer pong reference or something. As far as the whole brentroad/wolfweb issue, I can't help but think of the Futurama episode with the alternate dimension in a box.

It would be nice if the other domains did a permanent redirect to http://www.thewolfweb.com/ so there would only be one domain to set the cookie on.

2/10/2008 1:46:52 PM
Oh. you still have to use the link button. So that's still no good for the majority of people that are just gonna copy and paste directly into their reply (kinda like what happened in the post right above me ).Was the fix that DirtyMonkey suggested in this thread really that hard to implement? Seemed like the best fix to me, but what do I know?]
2/11/2008 9:27:05 AM
^ I actually did that in this thread: /message_topic.aspx?topic=513897 but I don't think many people noticed it. I posted it late on a Saturday night so it got buried. [Edited on February 11, 2008 at 4:09 PM. Reason : .]

Well your tools are great and all (really they are pretty sweet) but what I meant was how hard would it be to implement them on the server side. Because, lets face it, no matter how cool your greasemonkey scripts are, they are gonna get used by 10% of the people on here in a best case scenario. It's just like all the morons that bitch about pop up ads instead of just installing ad block plus and solving their own problem.
2/11/2008 4:54:07 PM
yeah, you're right. not many people are going to bother with installing all that stuff.it would be a hell of a lot easier for them to implement it without having to hack away at it like i did. really i would be perfectly fine with me if nael grabbed that stuff and stuck it in the page.
2/11/2008 5:06:02 PM
This new "fix" sucks ass, btw. People that are used to not being assholes that still try to link "properly" get links that look like this:http:///message_topic.aspx?topic=423773People that don't care and just paste the URL directly get this:http://www.brentroad.com/message_postreply.aspx?topic=423773Neither of them work.Meh.

I fail to see how you can say I'm the one that's trolling when I bring up an issue and you attempt to call me out for bitching about something. I mean shit, I've either got a valid point here, or I don't. Which one is it? Obviously I know it's two seperate issues. My entire point here is that the behavior of the link button has changed, thus changing the way that users need to behave when trying to "link properly" They still need to use the button and paste text into the form, the only thing that has changed is the amount of text that needs to be pasted. My entire point is that if the second issue is resolved (the ability to just paste a link directly into the reply box) then the first issue will be moot. My entire "complaint" was just that this "fix" didn't actually fix a damn thing. Your complaint is that I complained? And I'm the one that's trolling?]

I'm confused. What do you mean it's been fixed?Fixed would mean that someone would be able to take the full URL, paste it directly into the reply box, and it would automatically be linked as the short method so everyone logged into all 4 varients of the site could click on it. What's changed? Because that link^ still redirects me to a site that I'm not logged into.]

7/7/2008 11:01:45 PM
I don't get it.it's been like that since 2/08]
7/7/2008 11:04:03 PM
I know it may seem like I'm bitching for the sake of bitching, but really the point I made months ago still stands. People still have to choose to link properly. Yes, you've made it easier and better, but they still have to click the link button and paste the URL into the box that comes up. I'd still say less than 10% of users here will bother with the extra step. This won't truly be fixed until the site automatically parses local URLs directly from the reply box (or Compose New Mail box).
