i live in sandy springs. it's ok i guess. i ride the train into work downtown so i don't have to deal with the traffic, so that aspect is good. it does sorta seem like cary to me, only bigger.
3/8/2007 1:32:09 PM
i'll fucking sound snobby - don't live outside the perimeter (OTP)...dunwoody is a scary place...dated a girl from there - nothing but a strip mall. the closer you live to downtown the better imo - it's a reverse commute just about everywhere
3/9/2007 3:11:28 PM
3/9/2007 5:42:22 PM
fairly certain we're buying a place in mableton - right off of S Cobb Dr SE
3/13/2007 5:19:52 PM
enjoy the burbs
3/14/2007 8:21:48 AM
yeah we looked in the city and we're just not city people
3/14/2007 9:39:36 AM
jesus christ we're literally 2 miles from the permiter. it's hardly the burbs.
3/15/2007 9:30:19 PM
if you want the burbs, drive north on peachtree, continue north when it turns into peachtree- indstrial/141 outside the perimeter, and just keep going north. nothing but suburbia-land and strip malls for mile and miles and miles.
3/16/2007 7:50:30 PM
looks like I may be taking a job in Smyrna... any thoughts? Is the Village Green there worth a damn? sounds nice, lots of stuff in walking distance etc
3/20/2007 6:46:48 PM
or should I get something down near Little Five Points or downtown and just commute?
3/21/2007 3:34:57 PM
after having just done the house hunt in ATL - each area has an entirely different feel to it - it's not something that one can easily convey to you - just have to drive around and spend some time down there
3/21/2007 3:49:21 PM
smyrna is outside the perimeter...vinings is nearby, and is nice in its own right (i work up there)...but i go out in the midtown/highlands/little 5 area most of the timeyou DO NOT want to commute into town...traffic is a bitch
3/21/2007 9:20:23 PM
Yeah, I think I would like Little 5 Points a lot, and Buckhead was fun back in the day even though I heard its died off some... what about living there and commuting OUT to Smyrna?
3/21/2007 11:08:24 PM
commute out isn't bad at all...i live in inman park and work in vinings...other than a little bit of slow-down on the downtown connector, it's clear and open. coming home i take the surface streets thru GT and midtown to get home...about 20-25 mins to work, 25-30 mins home...well worth living in the inman/highland/little 5 area
3/21/2007 11:14:04 PM
^ yeah, i second that easy comute out to smyrna from intown. i live in the highlands and work out in smyrna (kinda, southern most edge of smyrna where 75 and 285 intersect).20min drive to work, 30min drive home using surface streets (75S, get off at that 17th,14th,10th exit) and use surface streets to cross over to the highlandsevery once in a while 75 will get back up to past northside/howell mill, but its pretty rare and in the end adds only another 10-15min max to my commute, so not bad at all.
3/22/2007 10:46:04 AM
you would like little 5! i'll catch you on aim tonight?
3/22/2007 4:34:46 PM
goalielax do you rent or own in inman park? - if you own is it a condo?heh and dzandrea did you ignore my PM from a few days ago ]
3/22/2007 6:14:45 PM
unfortunately i am renting at the moment...i inherited a house near Blowing Rock, NC that is one big headache right now. Until I can get that place take care of, I'm not buying down here in Atlanta.
3/23/2007 7:53:49 AM
i only asked because i'm fairly certain that jaybee is looking to buy and wasn't sure of the market in that area to buy - i haven't looked but i imagine it's in the low 200s for a 2br condo and goes up from there
3/23/2007 10:06:22 AM
no, was looking to rent for a year probably just to get used to the area and see what I like, but if there was some really really good deal then I would consider buying, but probably just rent
3/23/2007 1:07:30 PM
oh i thought you said to me you wanted to buy - must not remember correctly
3/23/2007 2:11:55 PM
going to live at Eclipse on Pharr in Buckhead
3/31/2007 6:01:15 PM
^ that's where my girlfriend lives
3/31/2007 6:04:57 PM
haha, oh shit, I will "check up on her" for you does she/you like it?actually, could you put me in contact with her, got a TON of questions (moving in, cable/direct tv, etc.)
4/1/2007 1:29:33 PM
holy christ, my head is spinning... sold the house in one day! atlanta here I come
4/1/2007 5:05:22 PM
congrats - i'm closing in ~20 days
4/1/2007 5:10:39 PM
good luck
4/1/2007 7:17:56 PM
anyone in Atlanta have experience with Purdigital's phone service?
4/2/2007 3:34:12 PM
????????????/
4/3/2007 5:28:03 PM
never heard of it...if you have a mobile there really is no need for a landline unless your place can't link buzzers to cell phones. it's voip, so i really don't know jack about that
4/3/2007 11:54:36 PM
going with Bellsouth to be safe hahatried this little hole in the wall bar next to the building I will be moving into when I get down there, called Elbow Room, had a really really fucking good sandwich, Italian Club, thing was huge. They had lottery tickets you could fill out at your table haha
4/4/2007 8:14:18 PM
How can y'all stand the traffic? I drive through atlanta 3-4 times a month and it blows.
4/4/2007 9:07:23 PM
i moved so i wouldn't ever drive in the traffic and i'm hella pissed you don't call a sista when you drive through town.lunch. something?!
4/4/2007 9:08:04 PM
I'll see what I can do the next time I drive through hotlanta. I actually drove through today, 285 is a bitch.
4/4/2007 9:20:18 PM
yeah I dont think my commute will be too bad, living in Buckhead, working in Smyrna
4/5/2007 12:16:03 AM
ATLANTA HAS BEEN...CRUSHED
4/5/2007 2:45:45 AM
^ oh damn, you updated from the previous one!!!CRUSH CRUSH CRUSH!!!this is trapezius btw
4/5/2007 2:50:12 AM
did anyone go to the concerts in centennial this past weekend?
4/5/2007 9:13:17 AM
so, what places are fun in buckhead? and let me preface things by saying that I prefer dive bars and clubs, but real clubs, not bars or lounges that happen to have a dance floor, I fucking HATE "martini lounges" or any place with fucking "tapas"...
4/5/2007 6:31:09 PM
I went on Sunday to see Sugarland and Maroon 5, wanted to see Panic on Friday but was recovering from a stomach virus.
4/5/2007 11:16:40 PM
^smiths olde bar is pretty fun i think, i like dive-ish bars too. its dark and laid back. i think they always have bands playing in the upstairs section that you can pay to see, but the bottom level is free to get in.
4/6/2007 8:06:33 AM
wheres that?
4/8/2007 6:50:42 PM
yeah - i like smiths as well.its at the intersection of monroe and piedmont next to cowtippers
4/9/2007 9:16:13 AM
thats not in buckhead
4/9/2007 12:47:54 PM
^ in buckhead you're pretty much just gonna find either a) lounges, b) mediocre dance clubs or c) ultra-fratty UGA bars full of white oxford shirts and boat shoes. that being said, i enjoy some of the places in buckhead. but you're not gonna find any dive bars or legit nightclubs. if you like to dance, though, tongue and groove isn't too bad (a bit overpriced for my tastes, but the DJ is pretty good). [Edited on April 9, 2007 at 8:52 PM. Reason : ..]
4/9/2007 8:50:08 PM
all dive bars have fratty contingents - just deal with it. otherwise you're going to find yourself hanging out on buford highway with mexicans and asians
4/9/2007 9:18:11 PM
Nah - just go to Little 5. Corner Tavern, Yacht Club, Brewhouse, Star Bar - etc
4/9/2007 9:42:05 PM
^^^ I went to a few places while there, and Mike N Angleos seemed laid back, as did the Elbow Room...
4/9/2007 11:23:04 PM
i hate to tell you, but the emory undergrads love little 5...you can't tell me you've never seen a frattastic person in star bar on disco tuesday
