well, i figured out the problemit's in the shop right now having the pump rebuilt and blueprinted.oh well, i bought it for such a cheap price that i'm still in good shape...as long as nothing else is wrong, i'll still only have about 4100-4200 bucks in it (2001 ultra 150, 120 hours, w/ trailer, now with a freshly rebuilt/blueprinted pump and a solas dynafly impeller)if and when i pop the motor, i'll prob do this. major bang for the buck:http://groupk.com/k1350.htm[Edited on July 17, 2006 at 11:55 PM. so really, how suitable of a tow vehicle will a BMW 3-series be (looking at either a 323/325/328is, or MAYBE a 328/330Ci)? will i have to back the ass end of the car into the water to get the ski on/off the trailer? (i understand that it depends partly on how steep the ramp is)i would much prefer driving a car instead of a truck (even if it's not a sports car!) , but I'll get a pickup or maybe another Jeep if need be. it would be cheaper, anyway.

get a car for work and life and a beater ass truck to haul the boats with.

You'll have no problem towing or putting that ski in with a 3-series. I towed and put mine in with my Saab 900 all the time...And that was a 2950 lb FWD car. There's really no reason to maintain a second vehicle just to tow a jet ski around.[Edited on July 25, 2006 at 4:58 PM. Reason : s]

^^that's exactly what i plan on doing at some point (in a couple/few years, when I plan on having a somewhat more stable residence, ~70% more income, and an Elise as a DD).right now, i'm looking at moving completely across the country in 6-12 months. I have 3 roommates, and between the 4 of us, we have 6 cars, 2 jet skis, and a motorcycle (and I'm apt to add another motorcycle to that fleet, although 2 of the cars should be going away fairly soon. either way, there's just nowhere else to keep ANOTHER car).finally, I don't get to drive much, and almost not at all in any place that a hot sports car can be put to good use. A large part of the reason I'm getting rid of my car is because I'm not getting anywhere near my money's worth out of it right now...I definitely don't want to have the expenses associated with a car AND a truck.^yeah, i figured it would tow it ok (at least for my purposes). I just don't want to dunk my BMW in salt water in order to launch my jet ski. you actually were able to launch and retrieve a jet ski with your Saab while keeping the car out of the water (except the wheels/tires)?[Edited on July 25, 2006 at 5:05 PM. It seems like I had to put the exhaust pipe into the water to put in my ski which has a short tongue trailer. The bumper definately didn't go in though and I don't think I had that problem with my dad's trailer which had a little bit longer tongue.

yeah, i can live with dipping the tailpipe.hell, i guess i could always go at the trailer tongue with a sawzall and MIG.

add some length to the trailor. mine is several feet longer then most and it makes a huge difference backing it in unloaded (you can actually see the trailor).
