Any matches worth watching now that Roddick's out? I really miss the Sampras-Agassi days.
7/3/2006 9:22:14 AM
I'll be happy as long as Sharapova keeps winning. Nadal and Hewitt could be good in the semifinals. And also, any match with Andy Murray, since he's from GBR, it should be exciting with the crowd getting into it.
7/3/2006 9:30:48 AM
murray just lost in three sets.^^i really like watching henin-hardenne. her style of play is really entertaining.
7/3/2006 11:31:00 AM
she got that kung foo gripno seriously look at her left arm
7/3/2006 12:50:22 PM
henin-hardenne is like a freak of nature....how tiny she is and everything
7/3/2006 1:17:54 PM
her one-handed western backhand is a killer.
7/3/2006 1:46:12 PM
shes amazing, is it possible to have a hh-maria final?
7/3/2006 1:54:38 PM
yesand i'm thinking henin-hardenne will make the final.sharapova is going to have a tough time against mauresmo.[Edited on July 3, 2006 at 1:58 PM. Reason : and]
7/3/2006 1:57:17 PM
if HH won, she would have the carreer GRAND SLAM, basically cementing her in the HoF.She is awesome.
7/3/2006 2:56:36 PM
^ HH can only win the WC if she has a GG over KC in the SF, but then she would have to prob face AM or MS to get the BT and a spot in the WTA HoF, kkthx
7/3/2006 3:14:06 PM
MS is gonna beat HH for the WC Final and I am going to watch and beat off at the same time.
7/3/2006 3:17:34 PM
Roddick's career is going down the tubes, he just doesn't have the mental edgeplus he needs to stop slicing 95% of his backhands
7/3/2006 6:46:44 PM
the slice backhand is pure laziness when used in excess
7/3/2006 8:37:31 PM
7/3/2006 8:41:08 PM
^why? I agree with ^^. Besides, he's got a very weak backhand that's always been his weak point. The slice is just an easier shot. So yeah, I actually agree with you^. He does need to re-learn his backand. Possibly grab an eastern grip swing one-handed hit with topspin and get back to the basics.[Edited on July 3, 2006 at 9:26 PM. Reason : .]
7/3/2006 9:22:10 PM
I don't understand how he could get that tired with the two-hander anyway...it's a lot less effort than hitting all your backhand shots with the same and only arm you're hitting your forehands with. if you think about it, that left arm is resting between backhand shots, and it's not used for serve, volley, etc. so it should be fresh for the backhands and give even more power. the biggest drawback to the two hander (in my opinion) is the lack of reach afforded by the one-hander.

7/4/2006 12:28:47 PM
that streaker was pathetic
7/4/2006 8:30:50 PM
wow hewitt having trouble with baghdatis
7/5/2006 1:20:27 PM
Hewitt down 2 sets to 1 in the 4th.Bags is just outplaying him in every facet of the game.
7/5/2006 2:50:47 PM
and Hewitt is history.Bags wont be Nadal. We are looking at another Nadal v. Federer final. This is sooo funny how similar this is to an early Sampras v. Agassi.Federer is the quiet, confident player who is setting all of the records, similar to Sampras.Nadal is the young Agassi with long hair, flamboyance, and fight. Seemingly the only person who can slow down Federer. If these guys could dislike each other for some reason, this would easily become the greatest INDIVIDUAL rivalry in all of sports...way ahead of Tiger and Phil.
7/5/2006 3:25:40 PM
that's a pretty bold statement, especially since neither federer nor nadal have reached the heights of sampras OR agassi. sure federer is great (and is probably one of the greatest ever) but he's still young. and off of clay, nadal is still unproven.if nadal can make it to the finals and make it interesting for federer, then that would do a lot for your argument.
7/6/2006 12:07:25 AM
is it true there was actually a female streaker?btw I'd say federer's odds to win should be about 1000 to 1 at this point
7/6/2006 1:03:11 AM
^^Eh..... if you compare grand slam wins, I'd say Federer is pretty much right there with Agassi already, and at a much younger age. This guy is gonna be winning championships for many many years to come. The only real question left for him to answer is will he ever find an answer for Nadal on clay.
7/6/2006 1:09:19 AM
Except that Nadal can beat Federer.Agassi couldn't consistently beat Sampras (and I hated Sampras for that).
7/6/2006 1:17:17 AM
just like the majority of people in here are saying, off of clay, nadal is still unproven. (although he is making a good case for himself right now)
7/6/2006 8:18:15 AM
^^^agassi won the french.
7/6/2006 9:30:57 AM
Agassi won the French when he was 29. Federer is 24. Agassi has 8 slams, Federer will likely have that amount Sunday. I'm a fan of both but to say that Federer hasn't reached the heights of Agassi is ridiculous.
7/6/2006 10:23:51 AM
Page 3 needed a Sharapova picture bad
7/6/2006 10:26:22 AM
^^the main difference is that Federer and Nadal inherited the game at a great time from Sampras, Agassi, etc. when it is getting national exposure at a high level. When Agassi and Sampras came into the limelight, tennis had sucked for years and hadnt had a great rilvalry since the later stages of Connors v. McEnroe.Federer is dominant, but one one would care if it hadnt been for Sampras and Agassi. They were Ambassadors of the game, Fed just runs shit.
7/6/2006 10:47:45 AM
^Federer is more of an ambasador to the game than Sampras ever was. He speaks four languages and always gives lots of time to media outlets throughout the world. Sampras never went out of his way to promote the game. When you achieve the #1 ranking, you have an obligation to be the spokesman for the sport and Federer has been lauded by everyone in the sport for his efforts.
7/6/2006 11:23:13 AM
^there's no fucking obligation. Its great for him to be the way he is, but he isn't obliged to do shit.
7/6/2006 11:30:13 AM
^Then I guess John McEnroe doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.
