ok I have the solution if now YOW then we should hire Hodge b/c maybe he can be accepted!! Fowler seemed to kiss his ass
4/7/2006 4:21:52 PM
bring in calipari
4/7/2006 11:06:14 PM
just heard on wral calipari has an 80 percent graduation rate and is 148-59 in six seasons at memphis...that sounds pretty good to me
4/7/2006 11:32:16 PM
Yeah thats actually one of the good things I've heard about him. Now whether or not he's a dirty recruiter is a different story. Actually though, I heard that Memphis scored just above 900 on that new scoring system used by the NCAA for academics. It wont hurt them this year, but if its below like 930 for two years in a row, you get penalized with scholarships depending on how bad it is. I wouldnt look too much into that number though, cause our basketball team had a worse score than our football team when we were first scored....and Herb did such a great job with academics and he is god. (and yes, the football team passed, the basketball team didnt)[Edited on April 7, 2006 at 11:36 PM. Reason : ]

anyone know memphis' academics compared to ours? like are they a "tougher" school than us?
4/7/2006 11:42:18 PM
Memphis
4/7/2006 11:52:55 PM
^^ I can't find them in the top 100 of anything on US News so far.[Edited on April 7, 2006 at 11:54 PM. Reason : ^]
4/7/2006 11:53:02 PM
Yeah I dont know anything about that...that was just from a college search engine...peterson's?
4/7/2006 11:55:29 PM
wow that's a huge difference
4/8/2006 12:52:29 AM
just because its easier to get into a school doesn't mean its easier to graduate from it...and also just because its hard to get into a school doesnt mean its hard to gradate cough UNC cough.i think perhaps their majors might help more than entire school stats?
4/8/2006 12:56:19 PM
I love NCSU, BUT, here are way too many stupid people here for us to have an average entrance GPA of 4.07. That seriously does not make any sense.
4/8/2006 1:39:41 PM
4.07 isn't that great when it's unweighted (As in, 6.0 possible due to AP classes)
4/8/2006 1:43:08 PM
^ True, but you can't take AP classes during your freshman year. Though, honors classes (5.0) are counted too. Anybody have any unweighted GPA #s?
4/8/2006 1:47:10 PM
^^ 4.0 is the highest you can get unweighted 4.07 is not possible on an unweighted scale at at almost all schools. A weighted scale is what uses Ap= 6.0 and Honors = 5.0 etc.
4/8/2006 1:49:14 PM
eh, you got the point
4/8/2006 1:49:50 PM
Compare the SAT scores...NCSU is a smarter school by that standard.
4/8/2006 3:21:54 PM
i had a 3.65 unweighted GPA upon graduation from hs. i went to a school where that was good for being ranked 60 out 300. pretty much everyone in front of me or around my rank went to UNC/Duke/State/[insert other great school here]. our top 100 were some of the cream of the crop of the public school kids in Charlotte.
4/8/2006 3:34:50 PM
right nowCalipari is the best thing that could happen to the bball team

I hate it when people say Calipari is our #2. Even if he is it doesn't sound good.
4/8/2006 4:55:40 PM
just hire him already
4/8/2006 6:57:16 PM
i bet 99% of the speculation in this thread is completely untrue... but on the other hand, it is entertaining
4/8/2006 7:50:29 PM
Well, unlike the Barnes scenario, let's hope that the speculation with Calipari is both TRUE and ENTERTAINING this time, b/c he's pretty much our last shot at a big-name coach. The last thing I would want to see is a mid-major come in when State has the potential to capitalize on such a big opportunity and change it's public view of mediocrity in NC for the next 10-15 years at least.

4/9/2006 2:41:49 AM
^^Gillespie from Texas A&M is still in the mix, and hes not a mid-major coach, unless you consider the Big 12 a non-major conference
4/9/2006 9:51:37 AM
^^^ ummm... Calipari is, technically, a mid-major... CUSA isn't a power conference...i know, i'm just nitpicking, but still...

dweedleNice touch with Lee driving
4/9/2006 12:30:45 PM
i was wondering if he would be too small to recognize
4/9/2006 12:32:50 PM
Lee Fowler and the Memphis AD should get into a fist fight
4/9/2006 12:35:07 PM
fowler should shoot at the ground and strike black gold, texas tea, and then give it to Calipari as part of his salary

4/9/2006 1:29:20 PM
come on calipari
4/9/2006 1:44:07 PM
^^^ haha. you should make a thread. "Calipari Signs 5 Year Deal" It would probably get trashed but it'd be funny to see how many people believe it.
4/9/2006 1:44:19 PM
I am going to go nucking futs if I get to see Calipari on the NC State sidelines. That would be the best hire ever for NC State.. by far. Every other coach we've had was a successful mid-major. Cal is one of the top 3-4 in the nation, IMO.

Thanks for realizing my vision, dweedle
