3traditionally, they were cheaper. depending on what you're getting, you can still get a cheaper price, theres a lot of room for bargaining, especially if you go near the end of the show ~4pm sunday. thenagain, you've got some vendors who sell quality animals and deserve the price they ask. so really, it's a toss up. my geckos wont be cheap, thats for sure.

Anyone know how much a dwarf rabbit usually costs at this show? Thanks =)
4/23/2006 2:00:46 AM
mike - depends on what time that gathering is friday night, cuz i gotta barback/bartend as usual....oh where are you staying when you come into town? and btw saw your sister at herp day lol
4/23/2006 3:50:53 AM
not surprising. i guess shes got some respect for that kinda shit through me. pretty much any of my non-herp related friends/aquaintances would end up approaching the herp club table now. i meant to ask, how did that turn out?oh, and yea im guessing it will probably be a lil later on...not sure on the exact time yet. im gonna email alex and figure out if anything will be mailed out to me in the next week or so regarding the show.and i just had a guy offer me $400 for one of my male satanics, which i think i paid around $70 for back in the day. i think im gonna turn down his offer, but if he goes higher i just might have to bite! i could probably buy 4 or 5 more at that price!this is the one he's talkin about:but that just so happens to be one of my best, if not the best breeder male i have, and also the oldest satanic in my collection.^^and i dunno, you can at least expect market price. im not schooled in rabbits, but i also know that warm-blooded animals are typically at a minimum at the show (with exception of birds).[Edited on April 23, 2006 at 5:20 AM. Reason : oh yea]
4/23/2006 5:17:53 AM
turnout was great...we got some kickass tshirts made up thanks to Jennifer,...dude thats crazy money talk..i guess with the snakes i deal with, things are much cheaper, so it makes me go im seriously hoping to do this booth thing in the fall as well, maybe we can get 1 more person in with us since at best what i will be selling will be oketee corns, maybe leopard geckos, and pending some talk with others, locality gray banded kings...oh btw, ill insert a shameless plug for this now:here is what it looks like i will be having in the fall:East of Sanderson locality [i]Lampropeltis alterna[/] , "Blairs" phase:X= she is about 2 weeks gravid now....ANDE of Sanderson crossed with a female Boy Scout Rd. "Alterna" phase(pending proof of her being gravid, breeding just ceased about 2 or 3 days ago):more to be posted in the fall version of this thread gray banded hatchlings, guaranteed feeding will run $75-200 each[Edited on April 23, 2006 at 11:53 AM. 4/23/2006 11:52:36 AM
hey, i just picked up the T i wanted online, and so i need to avoid the show to keep me from going over my budget... 1 day, VIP ticket. just asking for the $10 i spent.
4/23/2006 8:36:19 PM
at the very least, if you cant find any takers here, you could try waiting outside around 9 am near the ticket booth. it might take more effort, but you'll probably at least find a buyer there.
4/23/2006 11:59:41 PM
only a lil more than a week left, so b to the t.with pics, of course.and a final one, find the gecko!
4/27/2006 7:21:01 PM

4/28/2006 10:12:15 PM
I <3 this thread.Totally looking forward to getting some new toys for my corn.
4/29/2006 2:41:07 PM
damn, i went to the show in anderson, SC today, and the turnout was fuckin PITIFUL. im guessing it's partly because they were lacking vendors, partly because those jackasses change venues every fucking time they have a show. on a positive note, there were some real nice animals there, and there was air conditioning.of course i bought 2 leaftail geckos...but 2 ive been searching for for a loooong time, and 2 that i would never find for that price again. a mottled red female spearpoint leaftail and a fully striped juvie female satanic leaftail.
4/29/2006 5:23:57 PM

5/1/2006 3:23:55 PM
^wuzzat?
5/1/2006 5:05:26 PM
you might be in luck...for a uro, but not anything near as pretty as that one. i saw a few at the SC show this weekend. cant remember the vendor, but i definitely saw a few...not sure if they ended up getting picked up, but it's worth a try!if nothing else, BUY A GECKO FROM ME DAMMIT.that is all.
5/2/2006 12:03:17 AM
yea thats an ornate uromastyxi've never seen one at a show. only on breeders websitesi've seen malis, nigerians, and an occasional egyptian. (none of which are nearly as attractive as that ornate)if i dont see an animal i want at the show sat morning i'll just order one from a breederi'd love to buy one of your geckos but i probably cant afford one. but i'll stop by and check em out!i think i'm adopting a 6 month old male sugar glider.. so i might look for a young female to keep him company.
5/2/2006 12:17:17 AM
you'd also have to take into account that reptiles at shows are generally pretty stressed. as such a lot of times their colors are usually subdued. i know i've gotten many a dart that dramatically brightens up a day or two after i put them into their temporary enclosures.
5/2/2006 12:48:56 AM
Free pinkies for those who want them.http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=404887&page=1
5/2/2006 1:04:10 AM
^^ yea i'm aware of that.the hypo pastel beardi i got at the fall show - her colors improved after relaxing into her new tank at my house. i'm more concerned about health of the animal over the color. i sincerely doubt i'll see any designer or really cool uros there. prob just malis if anything there. i'm looking for a pet not breeding stock. i'm also thinking about getting another chameleon. i have one of those reptarium mesh cages that was recommended for my last cham. its small though. 2 ft by 1ft. anyone on here have experience with chameleons? i'm gonna do some research online before picking one up too.
5/2/2006 3:50:08 PM
chams are tricky, and from what i can tell stress easily.but if you have a good set-up and high standards when purchasing, you'll probably be fine is your male sugar glider neutered?
5/2/2006 3:52:38 PM
^^^^my geckos tend to be just the opposite. during the day, they usually blanch, and at night is when they color up. but im pretty sure when any of you see me at the show, you'll see that pretty much all of my geckos should be nicely colored up.
5/2/2006 3:54:30 PM
the only chameleons i'm interested in are brookesia. but i highly doubt i'd see any at the show.
5/2/2006 5:06:46 PM
ive considered getting into leaf chams too. im not good with the species though...i think i saw some rieppeleon (used to be rhampoleon?) at the SC show though...$25 each or 5 for $100. i dont know the going rates on brookesia anyway.[Edited on May 2, 2006 at 6:50 PM. Reason : [][][][][][]

1 Sorong or Biak (not sure) GTP2 tang hypo male leo geckos1 clean as hell male knoblochipending 2 more geckos, and trying to figure out how to get the damn pair of gravid knoblochi adults
5/7/2006 3:16:29 AM
wow that was a huge disappointmentUnless everything got sold on Saturday, there was no variety there when I went today. I'd say there were 1/2 to 2/3 the vendors that I was used to seeing there. I mean virtually every booth was the same: beardies, ball pythons, red-tails, and leopard geckos. I didn't go to buy for myself (urge311 got a Jackson's chameleon though) and I don't think I really saw anything that made me say I have to have that, with the exception of that incredibly colored panther chameleon at LLL. I mean panthers are usually bright, but this one was exceptionally blue!
5/7/2006 1:02:47 PM
yea, twas fun... but too many ball pythons for me. it seemed like that made up the vast majority.i'll see if i can get a picture or 2 of my guy tonite after work
5/7/2006 1:22:41 PM
I stopped by to say hi to some vendor friends of mine today... pretty much like ryan said, every booth the same with a few exceptions (shout out to mike and peyton, mike had some really nice geckos. and of course my friends at Under the canopy farms)... so i mainly went to buy bromeliads and a few odds and ends. picked up 3 female pygmy leaf chameleons.
5/7/2006 5:25:07 PM
pair of AZ mtn kings for cheap hypo carrot tail and albino leo babies 1 varanid now named "El Diablo"
5/7/2006 5:44:34 PM
made some bank (not quite as much as expected though), got another 1.2 satanics (big fuckin surprise), and got rid of all but 5 of the geckos i brought (brought ~30). im a lil PO'ed that someone who had told me they were going to buy a pair of geckos from me ended up not getting them, even after i placed the geckos on hold for them (which possibly kept me from getting the price i wanted for them). but im happy to have a wad of cash and some extra room, and the 3 geckos i wanted to sell the least actually didnt sell. i dunno, i guess all the dumbasses buying $20 ball pythons and various other shit cuz it was cheap didnt realize that even though some of my prices seemed high, they were actually great deals. i definitely had some other vendors hounding me for my crested gecko hatchlings though, and for the most part it was like trying to sell to tdubbers. haha.oh yea, and the one thing that made the entire show for me (besides the loot) was when i recognized someone who i only knew from TWW. yea, that's right...Anita Flick graced us with her presence (although peyton missed it cuz i think he was out walkin around, like he did most of the show ). then there were the two ditzes dead-set on getting the ball pythons, who called peyton later in the day saturday to ask how to retrieve a young ball python from the dashboard of a car.[Edited on May 7, 2006 at 11:36 PM. went back briefly todaypicked up a very very sweet albino leopard gecko. male. he's already taken to my 3 females.was very tempted to get a full grown snow male beardie from georgia bearded dragons. i'd already spent like $350 so i didn't. he was very sweet though. and would have made beutiful snow pastel babies with my female hypo pastel
5/7/2006 11:34:19 PM
wish i had made it out there. but i've been moving/unpacking for the last 2 days.and after spending $200 yesterday on essentials for our new apartment, and then another $175 tonite to get the kitchen stocked, i'm glad i didn't tempt myself by looking around.
5/8/2006 12:08:38 AM
so between baltimore and the raleigh reptile show this weekend i spent $1145......
