an internist told me today at a seminar that he has his clients 1) drink 8 oz of water before you even eat your meal2) you can eat what you want preferably low fat high carb mod proteinBUT it has to fit on a tea saucer -- it cant hang off of the edges and you cant pile it up.do this 6times each dayand exercisehe said he had a patient who figured out how to trim 3 doughnuts(for breakfast) so they would fit on the plate, and saved the trimmings for the next meal. she was still losing weightportion control plus keeping the metabolism on an even keel keeps the body out of starvation mode and lets you use the energy you intake only for running your body, ie you dont go into starvation mode and put on adipose tissue.

^what the hell kind of intern[ist] would say this??? hi, my name is bob, i'm a professional internist!!! 1) water contributes to satiety because the weight of the water presses on the nerves in the stomach much like anything else a person ingests....however, drinking before a meal (and during) dilutes the strength of a person's stomach acid so that it takes longer to digest food before it can move on to the intestines......also, if some food moves into the intestines without reaching a proper level of digestion, it will be difficult for the body to assimilate the nutrients (esp. micronutrients) in the food...2) this is just caloric intake control by volume...calorie expendature must exceed calorie intake for weight loss to occur...if someone used a steamroller i bet they could fit at least 5 donuts on a tea saucer...why not just eat as many fruits and vegetables as you want and get some micronutrients into the your diet? are fruits and vegetables that difficult to consume?!!!"starvation mode"??? "starvation mode"!!! so, if i starve myself and then eat one meal a day then my body is going to start "saving" calories as fat???...why the hell aren't anorexics fat, then?this "internist" is just manipulating the system...anybody can lose weight but can they do it in a healthy manner (can they handle lifestyle changes that include exercise and diet modifications)?

here's my advice...try the A plan (anorexia) don't do the B plan (bulemia)get the 48 hour miracle diet from wal mart, and chug it, don't do whatever bullshit the bottle says, repeat the next day, do this for a week. drinking nothing but water and the miracle diet...maybe some gatorade so you don't get low on electrolytes[Edited on April 6, 2006 at 12:04 AM. Reason : realize that that's 2 weeks worth of miracles all in a week's time!]
