4/6/2006 12:24:23 AM
So - Cartman was Matt and Trey and they were trying to say that Their humor is relevant and... "smart" even though they make fun of everyone, correct? I like the reference to burying your head in the sand, like ostriches who do it out of fear..Matt and Trey are really smart with their comedy I love their shows, especially when they mock events... such as "Chef" and then this week hahahaha, "Or - will Comedy Central Puss out" - why'd they tag, THAT in there? That's certainly what they seem to be building to. I'll be a bit disappointed if they don't.[Edited on April 6, 2006 at 12:40 AM. Reason : .]

^^ your last statement, are you talking about what I asked regarding the "Puss out?"[Edited on April 6, 2006 at 12:41 AM. Reason : g]

Is there an actual controversy about Family Guy or South Park having Muhammed censored out?
4/6/2006 1:24:26 AM
it wasn't about family guyit was about scientology
4/6/2006 1:30:53 AM
yeah, i see that now. Those clever bastards
4/6/2006 1:32:06 AM
didnt family guy have a cancel one episode because of a "controversal" joke on osama? This episode has a lot of backstory if im reading it right:-Dutch cartoon about Muhammad-Matt and Trey hatin on Family Guy-Censoring of content (similar to FOX cancelling that one episode of Family Guy)-Reactions to censorship and attacks on religions (scientology, mormons, muslims, etc.)
4/6/2006 1:43:47 AM
scientologists = super adventure club = family guy writersin the preview (M:I3 trailer), cartman infiltrates fox studios a la ethan hunt/tom cruisefamily guy mocking muslims = south park mocking scientologistscartman "standing up" for muslim/religious rights = south park being hypocritical and mocking themselvesfox censoring = comedy central potential censoring next weeki think what it boils down to is the scientology crowd has been pushing on comedy central behind the scenes to do something about south park and thus we have this episode "about" family guy[Edited on April 6, 2006 at 1:51 AM. Reason : and yes, they are hating on family guy, and rightfully so]
4/6/2006 1:51:03 AM
I was thinking that the Fox censoring was like Comedy Central already pulling the second air of the scientology episode. And that maybe the next episode mentions scientology, and that it's being threatened to be pulled.
4/6/2006 1:57:55 AM
4/6/2006 2:04:41 AM
i just took it to mean fox writers = south park writers in that "its our biggest show, they can do what they want"
4/6/2006 8:29:14 AM
4/6/2006 8:45:27 AM
i think you are way off base, charliefamily guy is only there so they can bust on family guyi will eat crow if it turns out i'm wrong next week but i didnt see any scientology parallel last nighti agree with the one guy that they plan to show muhammed next week and are saying com central better show it.
4/6/2006 8:50:59 AM
4/6/2006 8:51:43 AM
i asked this earlier, but how come isaac hayes didn't just talk to matt and trey about the false press report? surely they would've asked him and he could've just said it wasn't me
4/6/2006 9:05:12 AM
too late for that...even if he didn't want to quit the show, i imagine that he probably wasn't too happy with them fasttracking an episode destroying his character...in other words, the damage has been done, it probably "seems" rather pointless to kiss and make up now...then again, Darth Vader killed the emperor eventually, so i guess the way out is there...(assuming that the whole thing hasn't been a clever ruse from the begining)
4/6/2006 9:22:24 AM
even if i'm way off basethere was still a scientology parallel to last night's episodeand family guy was used to reinforce the issue
4/6/2006 9:28:43 AM
Its simple...family guy mocks muslims ... censoredsouth park mocks scientology... censoredfree speech... censored
4/6/2006 10:03:12 AM
This has been slowly happening, but South Park is now officially more preachy than funny.
4/6/2006 10:51:54 AM
i agree there was some parallel just not to the extent you believe
4/6/2006 11:14:48 AM
