why does everyone have a hard time with this concept. He IS better than everyone else. I think hes proven that 7 soon to be 8 time.

MS is NOT the best driver out there right now. you can see that by massa running as quick or quicker for the 2nd half of this season. Ferrari has the fastest car, by far, since about Montreal.

If Schumacher wins Suzuka then does he win championship even if Alonso ties it at Brazil since more 1st place wins?

It's not over.

If Schumi wins and Alonso fails to score, Schumi will be the champion.

for that to happen, massa has to take alonso out.

Alonso could use only 17k revs and still run in the top 8.

Schumi had some sort of mechanical glitch on the first lap of the final qualifying session and never got back on the track. As such, not only does he have to start 10th, but he'll also do so with a full tank of fuel.

Massa will start on the pole, and Alonso will start 4th.

flat tire for Michael, what an unfortunate way to end the career.

Great take on Schumacher's legacy as a driver and how people will remember him:

Quote :
"Which finally brings me to my real point: Michael Schumacher’s retirement, or, more appropriately, his legacy. Who, or perhaps more adequately “what”, is Michael Schumacher? With the post-Interlagos dust settled, after 16 seasons in F1 and seven world titles, what does MS’s image stand for?

New king Fernando Alonso might say Schumacher is synonymous with “the most unsporting driver ever,” but to me, Schuey will go into the history books as, quite simply, the blandest sporting genius mankind has so far known. And the sad thing is, he might not truly be. But the number of people who know Michael-Schumacher in depth is so scarce, we’ll just never know.

Never has that blandness been so evident as in Schumacher’s farewell speech in the post-race press conference at Monza. Type that on YouTube right now and watch it again: if you hit “mute” and pay attention only to Schuey’s facial expressions and body language, he could be saying, “The Bridgestone tires were great today, and everybody in the team did an exceptional job,” instead of, “I have loved every single moment, the good and the bad ones, they make life so special,” etc. etc.
The most emotive memories of Schumacher are likely to be negative ones, such as his infamous run-in with Jacques Villeneuve at Jerez in '97. (LAT photo)

Schumacher’s most defining trait might be his predictability, both on and off the track. On it, you could always count on him to produce unrivaled race pace, but also to never attempt an on-track pass unless the possibilities of gaining the position in question in the pits had already been thoroughly exhausted. You could also rely on Schuey to make the occasional mistake under pressure (a situation he’s been in disproportionately few times, considering the length of his career), mistakes sometimes enhanced by the famous ethical brain fades (Adelaide ’94, Jerez ’97 and Monaco ’06 being the most notorious ones).

Off the track, the possibilities of being surprised by a Schumacher quote have always numbered between slim and none. I truly believe any F1 journalist could forge a full Schumacher Q&A undetected, so predictable his answers to any given question tended to be.

Longtime enemy Jacques Villeneuve has said Schumacher’s dirty on-track tactics would make him go into history as something lesser than a Senna or Prost, and that will indeed happen, but mostly because any casual gaze at Schuey reveals no personality. Yes, every individual has a personality, but underneath that familiar face there’s no seven-time World Champion personality. No larger-than-life aura. No Senna, Prost, Piquet or Mansell.

Those four were either loved or hated by fans, but anyone with a keen interest in the human species would indeed end up liking them all to some extent. Schuey is also loved or hated, but both merely for the sake of his mind-boggling on-track results. Truth be told, I don’t think Schumacher has a single hardcore, bona fide fan who isn’t German or Italian.

And the really worrying thing is, Kimi Raikkonen could be up next…"
