since nikhil fucked the hawk up.. i repaired the headers with a cut out of the stock system, the rear cowl and now i need to get paint. also repaired the bent shift lever with the replacement of the old rear sets for the custom ones (in picts) have to get a longer bolt for the rear brake to work.. so right now i took the rear brake off haha.(still need paint yes i know. and if i painted the front fender white it would look like an american flag)[Edited on May 23, 2006 at 10:19 PM. 5/23/2006 10:46:18 PM
Guess I should post the new one since I replaced the GS It's a 2003 Honda CBR600RR. The blue bike is my roommate's 2005 Yamaha R6.[Edited on May 23, 2006 at 10:57 PM. Reason : Img link wrong]
5/23/2006 10:56:57 PM
yeah he laid it down right in front of my face. fucked up shit. no one rides my shit anymore
5/23/2006 11:13:53 PM
^^ hey, you the one with the yosh pipe on the RR with a small scratch on the left cowl plastic piece?
5/24/2006 12:36:00 AM
^ Nope, I don't have a Yoshi pipe (yet ) and I live up in Eastern TN, so I doubt you would have seen me. The bike does have quite a few scratches from previous owners laying it down in parking lots while sitting still, but that doesn't concern me since I'll track it eventually anyways.By the way, the roads up here rock. And not just the Dragon...US-421 in Shady Valley is awesome too, and there's a million other twisty little roads around. If any of you guys ride up this way, send me a PM and I'll see if I can come join ya for a ride.

^^ Going for the cafe racer look? That thing looks like it'll be awesome, what kind of bike is it? What engine?
5/25/2006 9:43:20 AM
^^^hotttthow long have you been working on it?
5/25/2006 10:25:55 AM

5/25/2006 10:26:53 AM
my legs are the motor dumbass
5/25/2006 10:44:22 AM
thanks, I am going for a retro cafe look, I'm glad someone recognized what i am tring to do thereIts a 1980 Suzuki GS850G. Ive been working on it for about a little over a year now. I would be finished but i dont have the money to buy the parts i need right now. Ive rebuilt the engine and carbs. Cut off about 100 pounds of useless stuff. Thats a GS550 Tank, and thats a trailer fender i got at tractor supply in garner, and clubman handlebars. I still have to wire it, and plumb it, i am thinking of using copper tubing for the gas line. That seat doesnt look right, so im going to make a flat seat for it, and have my GF's mom sow a cover for it.Oh yeah and i still have paint and pinstripe ontop of that flat black.Heres a link to my website to get an idea of what kind of pinstriping im talking abouthttp://www4.ncsu.edu/~djdenhol/Here is what i started withalso, i am posting under my roomates name, since i got suspended, my SN is MyCarSucks, i think i have some earlier pics in there too[Edited on May 25, 2006 at 11:52 AM. paint and handlebars look good. in my opinion, for cafe racer look you need a cafe racer tail, like the old nortons and ducatis. if you are going for a flat seat, you will probably need to fab up some forward controls, or you will look like a squattin girl taking a piss riding it
5/25/2006 11:59:32 AM
heres a pic of the controls i have on it nowI dont think it looks that bad, and its comfortable, I dont think im gonna do anything about the foward controls right now, i still have a list of other things to get doneI was thinking about using the old tank and making it into a tail section, but i'm not sure what the seat is going to look like yet, so i've kinda pushed that off as well
5/25/2006 12:21:33 PM
imo the seat looks good, the rear tail light needs to be updated.
5/25/2006 12:35:42 PM
I have a soft spot for Cafe Racers, despite my ownership of a crotch rocket CBR600RR. If I had a garage, I'd probably keep my GS500 and go that route with it. Living in an apartment complex where they frown upon vehicle maintenance in the parking lot sucks sometimes, lol. My 4 vehicle collection (2 cars, 2 bikes) is probably driving management nuts already! I need to get off my lazy butt and sell the GS.Is there any way you could get the pegs shifted back a bit? I love the handlebars, but for a good sporty riding position it seems like your legs should be tucked in more, imho.^x6: BEU, very few computer engineers actually work on hardware like that. Personally, I hate that crap nowadays, I don't even like dealing with the system I built a few years back anymore. I'm in Controls Engineering, which I find far more interesting. Industrial plants making stuff is much cooler than a computer fan
5/25/2006 1:20:22 PM
I'm interested in a GS500, you should sell before summer kicks off for sure.

I'm getting mine back today. I finally got some pipes (Vance & Hines short staggered), Screaming Eagle Stage I kit, power commander, chrome belt cover, new license plate bracket, and a really tiny butt stop on there.Pictures before too long.

Here's my baby:1985 Honda Interceptor - VF500FI just replaced all 4 carb diaphragms. I just need to figure out why she's overheating now, and she should be good to go. She's been amazing for the 100 miles or so I've been able to ride. [Edited on June 8, 2006 at 12:07 AM. Reason : :-]
