and to say that this years class is looking sad is plain ignorant...We already have 6 commits out of 8 with a RR of 5.5 or higher....Last year in the total class of 19 we only had 7. IMO this years class is off to a great start and it is only July...the best is yet to come! RR- is "rivals rank" and is basically the potential impact a player will have in college. 5.5-5.7 All-Region Selection; considered among the region's top prospects and among the top 500 or so prospects in the country; high-to-mid-major prospect; deemed to have pro potential and ability to make an impact on college team

I don't remember when most kids get evaluated, but I thought it was usually by now.I'm waiting on all the stars! Basically the very top tier kids in the country have been evaluated by scout so far, they're pretty much slacking with these rankings.
7/11/2006 4:49:51 PM
I agree Scout is getting slack with evaluating. As far as rivals goes, out of the 8 commits we have 1-4 star (Culliver), 5-3 stars (Bryan,Howard, Euwell, Jones, and ellis), and 2-2 stars (Lawson, and Whaley). I think this is pretty good considering that we only had a total of 8 3 stars and no 4 stars in last years class. Even though Culliver is a soft commit, i still feel confident that he will stay committed.
7/11/2006 4:57:36 PM
Ellis sounds solid in his decision, love it.
7/11/2006 5:08:27 PM
they need to send amato and all the coaches together, like to one dude place at a time, one a day and get them wrapped up

Rivals.com North Carolina top 30 2007 = http://ncstate.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=1567rivals has already release the Rivals100 and Rivals250(all 4 and 5 star players). they are now releasing state rankings, 5-10 a day, which include 3 stars and 2 stars. all prospects will be "re-ranked" acccording to need (new video, camps, etc.,etc.) in early august. juco and prep school rankings will be out in early sept. just other reasons that rivals>scout when it comes to rankings.

I think landing Oglesby will help in keeping Culliver.I don't know about Culliver, he's visited Clemson and still has us over them, but Florida I'm worried about. Hopefully we can keep him though.[Edited on July 11, 2006 at 11:11 PM. Reason : .]

Looks like NCSU and UNC are doing a good job of keeping the in-state talent so far this year. Much better than I ever rememeber them doing.
7/11/2006 11:41:12 PM
the top 15 in state prospects this year are some "big time" prospects. i really wish we could land a good portion of them this year. i haven't seen the state this loaded in a few years.thats the same thing folks are saying on the rivals.com message board about oglesby going to vt.
7/11/2006 11:51:33 PM
Dominique Ellis is a great pick up. I hope he has a great career here, and loved those quotes that were posted.

3* QB Russell Wilson from VA commits to the Pack
7/23/2006 11:36:21 AM
Another 2-sport star, I hope he works out better than Brackman has trying to play boths. Let's hope he sticks to football, cause we really need a QB in case Burke isn't the real deal.
7/23/2006 11:47:58 AM
there is no way you want your starting d-1 qb to be playing 2 sports.
7/23/2006 12:00:37 PM
^yeah...charlie ward
7/23/2006 12:31:40 PM
^Rusty LaRue and Ronald Curry also come to mind.
7/23/2006 12:37:41 PM
Todd Helton and Drew henson. Both played QB and baseball too.
7/24/2006 10:16:47 AM
I could see where playing Football - Baseball would be much better than say Football-Basketball or Basketball-Baseball.Playing Football - Baseball you have a little off-season between each to give you some rest and prep time. I'm sure the only way we got this guy was to give him the option of playing both, but I'm sure that won't last too long, kind of like Brackman. He'll likely be forced to choose one or the other.
7/24/2006 10:27:39 AM
For the record, Rusty LaRue played 3 sports (football, basketball, baseball) at Wake and ended up going pro in his worst sport (basketball).

Say goodbye to Culliver Decommitted today, can't say I'm suprised.
7/25/2006 2:50:04 PM
did anyone watch sports night last night on wral? a guy called in talkin about how amato burned bridges b/c he went around coaches instead of through them when recruiting high schools. He sounded like a crack pot, but i've never heard anything like this before.
7/25/2006 3:00:05 PM
^^Fuck. Do you have a link? Did you hear where he's going instead?
7/25/2006 3:17:29 PM

7/25/2006 3:51:54 PM
anyone got the whole article
7/25/2006 3:55:30 PM
culliver just babbles about how he wanted to take the pressure off his recruitment, which is bullshit, this move will only heat things uphe was about the softest verbal we have ever had, the fact that they ever even listed him as a commit was the problem, we still have an outside shot with this kid, which is exactly what we had last week and the week before if you talk to those in the know....nothing has changed here
7/25/2006 6:59:34 PM
He's got stars in his eyes. My guess is Florida or VT. Clemson looks to be coming on strong as well. His head has been getting bigger for a long time now, and with the shitty season we're probably going to have... doubt we land him. Hope I'm wrong.

and a good defense this year
7/27/2006 1:27:35 PM
our defense will be top-20 in the nation this year. not quite as good as the last few years, but damn good. and i'm right, dammit. you can't argue with me because I have stated a fact and that fact is 100% and your opinion doesn't matter.
7/27/2006 2:16:35 PM
We better find some receivers, then
7/27/2006 6:37:38 PM
and a QB*please let Burke be good* *please let Burke be good* *please let Burke be good* *please let Burke be good* *please let Burke be good*
7/27/2006 6:54:11 PM
Anybody got any links to videos of Justin Burke?
7/27/2006 7:21:12 PM
That QB a couple posts up seems too have pretty good accuracy and foot work. I also like how he can feel which way the defenses momentum is shifting by using his blockers.
