has anyone heard if jamal lewis and the ravens will part ways? Last i heard, they weren't going to franchise him.if he has enough left in his legs, he would fit the panthers style perfectly, and he would benefit from an actual nfl level passing game. he will probably be pretty cheap too.

2/23/2006 1:46:30 PM
except if he went to carolina, fox would give him the carries in the first place, unlike the walrus who had the league mvp in for 20 touches and throws it 50 times
2/23/2006 2:29:01 PM
the walrus good one. So is andy reid the elphant seal?
2/23/2006 2:38:20 PM
Panthers tag Foster as transition (not franchise) player. dont know what to think of this, i love him but i think we need a major upgrade, which of course could still happen...http://panthers.com/news/newsroomNewsDetail.jsp?id=23676
2/23/2006 8:59:11 PM
foster is horribleyou guys need a real RB
2/23/2006 8:59:57 PM
BRING RICKY PROEHL BACK...that fucker came in handy in numerous game situations!
2/23/2006 9:19:43 PM
Proehl was clutch. He'd be nice to keep around if he could coach those clutch skills.
2/23/2006 9:25:32 PM
running back Stephen Davis, running back Rod Smart and defensive tackle Brentson Buckner have been cut.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2350090
3/1/2006 7:07:37 PM
hmm was buckner expected to leave?
3/1/2006 7:08:53 PM
i thought he was suppose to retire
3/1/2006 7:15:42 PM
i'd rather he had retired than be cut, he was a good player for us. even if its necessary, cutting a player is kind of a slap in the face
3/1/2006 7:17:16 PM
Well we could get MIke Anderson
3/1/2006 7:19:17 PM
could get trevor pryce too. isn't he pretty good? he was my best player on madden 04
3/1/2006 7:24:08 PM
brentson said he wanted to retire as a panther. wow just wow on what we did.
3/1/2006 9:34:46 PM
I agree Rally...Mike Anderson would be a huge pick up for the Panthers. He would also cost much less than Shaun Alexander.
3/1/2006 9:52:19 PM
Mike Anderson is OLDHe probably doesn't have enough left in the tank to be a feature back.
3/1/2006 9:55:29 PM
is it not possible that we could resign buckner for the vet minimum? Or would we justve renegotiated if we intended to keep him? And all the buzz is that Ricky Proehl will be back for his 17th year, fucking amazing.
3/2/2006 4:28:24 AM
Mike Anderson is old, but he hasnt been in the NFL that long.He was pretty sick last season.Id much rather have Anderson than a brokedown Jamal Lewis or Deshaun Foster
3/2/2006 8:06:51 AM
Cutting Buckner made me sad...great player and leader.Mike Anderson would be a great pick up and Back, perfect fit with his running style. He would not have to be 30 carriws back...we still got Foster 10-15 carries. That would keep Foster fresh and and hopefully healthy for post season....2 back combo would be off da chain...Proehl back? Awesome, still need a TE...no way to get Vernon from Miami is there? III&FH
3/2/2006 8:45:29 AM
As far as cutting big name guys and loyal guys go, I think in this situation the etiquette of what is right or not has to be thrown out of the window.. this situation is totally unique in that we probably wont see another shift in talent for a long time if they cant get this deal done today which i dont think they will... Its going to suck for a lot of nice players but its business and im sure they will not consider it personal... Im excited to hear who all gets cut and where everyone will end up... what a great year for TO to get that "big" contract that no one is going to have enough money to pay him or the players they have...
3/2/2006 10:02:29 AM
there will probably be some sort of labor deal. Not reaching an agreement won't be good for anyone, and labor talks usually go to the wire in any industry.
3/2/2006 10:38:03 AM
Turn it to ESPN, no agreement reached, they only met for an hourchaos will begin shortly
3/2/2006 10:39:28 AM
hunterb2003, dude calm down.....youve posted like 800 messages in the last 20 seconds!
3/2/2006 10:40:53 AM
I know im bored
3/2/2006 10:42:16 AM
me too, work sucks
3/2/2006 10:45:14 AM
why do so many people want to keep buckner? jenkins will be back next year, carstens and moorehead played well this year, buckner is like 34 years old...time to restock the DT pool in the draft, or at least get a good onedavis was great...2 years ago...he's old, no surprisehe hate me wasnt productive and jamal robertson is better, no big lossnow hopefully hopefully hopefully we can keep witherspoon
3/2/2006 1:21:03 PM
hopefully, but as of now Hurney said that they weren't close to new contracts with any would be free agents, including witherspoon.i also saw that the G-men may be interested in witherspoon.
3/2/2006 1:34:01 PM
there is definitely gonna be some interest in Spoon by other teams...but of all our free agents I think he is THE most important to re-sign...I'd love to have him and Thomas Davis on the outsides of Morgan...a healthy Morgan, that is
3/2/2006 1:35:07 PM
yup, with a healthy jenkins in the middle clogging shit up.
3/2/2006 1:44:58 PM
ive heard jenkins has spent his time off sitting around eating, and getting fat
3/2/2006 2:41:40 PM
jenkins used to live in gerald wallace's neighborhood but then GW bought Dell Curry's old house
3/2/2006 2:49:24 PM
^^ probably, he has clinical depression.Last year all he did was drink once he got hurt. His career is going downhill pretty quick, he was rated the top player in the NFL (ahead of even Peyton Manning) by Scouts INC two years ago...
3/2/2006 3:20:53 PM
You've got to give him credit though, he just wants to play. Hell, in the Saints game, he went back out there with a torn ACL. Hopefully he'll bounce back.
3/2/2006 3:28:53 PM
Jenkins would show up at Bobcats games with some HOT ASS women
3/2/2006 3:29:23 PM
3/2/2006 7:22:58 PM
fuck stephen A, good job smitty, not trashin your qb
3/3/2006 12:41:44 AM
panthers released Brandon ShortThey also tendered offers for several playershttp://panthers.com/news/newsroomNewsDetail.jsp?id=23746[link]
3/3/2006 10:28:29 AM
i hope they have a plan for LB, otherwise, we will have some serious problems next year.
3/3/2006 10:30:01 AM
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2363495we just re-signed foster for 3 years, $14.5 million
3/11/2006 12:03:22 AM
dammit, that fucking sucks. means spoon is all but gone
3/11/2006 2:23:32 AM
foster sucks
3/11/2006 3:23:40 AM
Witherspoon is all but gone, someone will throw way too much money at him...and he will Moose...and witherspoon is not the core of the D....obviously the Panthers were thinking of replacing him with Davis last year. He will be missed, but if we can get this DT at least we might not get ran on as much. Witherspoon is going to take the highest offer and be gone...we already lowballed him with a offer less than the often injured Morgan got.
3/11/2006 3:42:46 AM
http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/sports/football/nfl/carolina_panthers/14073050.htmWith Foster's new deal and the restructuring of contracts for four veterans, the Panthers enter free agency with slightly more than $13 million available under the $102 million salary cap. They also are close to re-signing backup quarterback Chris Weinke -- a deal could be announced as early as today. The Panthers restructured the contracts for defensive end Julius Peppers, guard Mike Wahle, cornerback Ken Lucas and safety Mike Minter.By converting base salary into bonus money that will be pro-rated over the life of the contract, the Panthers took Peppers' $14.8 million cap figure to $11.3 million. Minter's dropped from $3.6 million to $2.1 million, Wahle's from $7.3 million to $4.7 million, and Lucas' from $8.78 million to $3.98 million. That might help the chances of re-signing some of their 11 unrestricted free agents, including starters Will Witherspoon, Marlon McCree, Jeff Mitchell, Tutan Reyes, Jason Baker and backup quarterback Chris Weinke. It appears unlikely the Panthers will be able to keep Witherspoon. Perhaps the league's premier free agent linebacker, he is likely to command a high price. He is expected to begin visiting teams as soon as today.McCree, who emerged as a solid starter at strong safety, is likely to be pursued by San Diego, and might have more value on the open market than the Panthers are willing to pay. The Panthers have interest in keeping Mitchell and Reyes, but aren't expected to offer big money.Despite the cap room, it's unlikely the Panthers will make a splash like last year when they signed Wahle and Lucas to huge contracts.Carolina's most glaring needs are at receiver, defensive tackle, running back, backup quarterback and linebacker.$13 mill under the salary cap ain't too bad, compared to their cap figure just a couple days ago...
3/11/2006 10:55:59 AM
why did we sign morgan last year and not spoon. why did we spend that much ching on foster and not a decent fa? damn panthers
3/11/2006 11:11:50 AM
^^^hell yeah...if we can get him and have a healthy Jenkins we will easily have the best front 4 in the league again
3/11/2006 1:29:31 PM
^^from espn I think Maake is pretty good
3/11/2006 3:08:43 PM
holy shit thats a helluva player to sign
3/11/2006 3:42:14 PM
Re-signing Foster - could go either way, he has explosiveness, but he can't run between the tackles and is a major health risk.Dropping Buckner and picking up this new DT - good move, this guy sounds like he's young and the real deal, let's just hope it works out and Jenkins can come back 100% for the full seasonI'd love to have Witherspoon back, but that won't happen. I would love to get McCree, Mitchell, and Baker back if possible, Reyes would be a solid retain but I don't care about Weinke, haha.McCree could start at safety and we could move Thomas Davis to starting LB to fill Witherspoon's void, he looked solid last year when we used him against Vick.About picking up a older bruiser like Mike Anderson. He was solid behind Denver's line, but Denver can put anyone in their backfield and have a solid year(ala Ron Dayne). But I wouldn't mind us giving him a 2-3 year deal to balance out the attack with Foster. But hopefully Shelton or Robertson can step in and be a solid power back to help balance out the attack.
3/11/2006 4:02:15 PM
i dont know about this new DT, he rode the pine in baltimore for 3 yrs. and then finally had a decent year last year.....that said, i was also skeptical of ken lucas for the amount he was signed for and he turned out to be worth every penny. so i am just going to have faith in fox and believe that he knows what he is getting into and what this guy is capable off in our system.
