DO NOT look at the study guide, she does NOT make them and she has used the same ones for at least the past 7 semesters.Someone told me it was exactly like the exam she gave last semester. Get with a big group in the library, and if you do nothing else STUDY THE OLD TESTS!!! She will show them to you if you ask her in her office!
2/11/2006 11:43:22 AM
^how can you give advice to this semesters students when you FAILED LAST SEMESTER??????????
2/11/2006 6:38:07 PM
haha, does fail = a?
2/11/2006 7:31:42 PM
the study giude is definitely old and outdated for what she tests on. it was applicable to tests from roughly 3 years ago. but apparently not now.
2/12/2006 4:16:45 PM
ok, i take it back. i got a B+ which feels great when you expect a D!
2/13/2006 2:07:56 PM
wow. i got an 80.haha. i thought i did real bad also.
2/13/2006 4:58:41 PM
2/15/2006 9:17:07 PM
dr. sylvia is a pretty cool lady, but i definately would not want to have her for a class, ever. good thing i have knopp.
2/19/2006 4:33:43 AM
bttt for some studying.got damn this test has harder structures. so do we still need to know the 27 or so from test 1??
2/21/2006 12:51:20 AM
oh and anyone have xyluose? chemfinder didnt have it, neither did yahoo image, its in the book, but im trying to find the haworth projection
2/21/2006 12:54:34 AM
So what structues do we need to know and what pages in knops notes are gonna me on exam 2?
2/21/2006 6:35:56 PM
pyridoxal through sucrosei couldn't find erythrose or xylulose on chemfinder.
2/21/2006 8:03:47 PM
Everytime I look at this thread I think about Sylvia's Pizza
2/21/2006 8:21:25 PM
thanks kitty, i really appreciate it.
2/21/2006 9:31:59 PM
yeah, my ta didn't tell us which structures we had to know. some girl in class knew, and as soon as she told me, about 10 other people around us went, "which ones?"
2/21/2006 10:03:51 PM
cmon now people. bttt
2/28/2006 2:41:59 AM
be happy if you found the fisher projection. you need to be able to make the hayworth, and that's not that damn hard.but be careful. i think she's going to have us draw two or more monomers connected by glycosidic bonds.does anyone know how to draw the derivatives in hayworth? they don't seem to say where to put the phosphate or alcohol group half the time.
2/28/2006 9:24:52 AM
there are 4 total linkages. 2 are sucrose and lactose. i forgot what page, but it shows all 4. if you can draw the other 2 you are good to go
2/28/2006 10:39:32 AM
I've found every structure at wikipedia.com if that helps anyone...
2/28/2006 1:17:57 PM
so we only need to know the active sites for the cofactors? for example, vitamin K (pg. 214 in cream text) doesn't have a red active site...so does that indicate that we need to know the entire structure? thanks and good luck to everyone
2/28/2006 4:45:44 PM
yeah, we only need to know active sites from ATP through biotin. those are the ones we've addressed in review session, at least
2/28/2006 5:13:42 PM
thanks; i thought we needed to know the entire structure of ATP though
2/28/2006 7:40:06 PM
yes, we need to know the complete structure of atp, nad, and fad.. including the reactive center.
2/28/2006 8:13:27 PM
*nervous*
3/1/2006 5:56:46 AM
that was actually pretty easy, except for the michaelis-menten pageand the fact that i got fucking ligase for my enzyme classmy roommate also put down the wrong ID # twice so he effectively had to take the exam 3 times
3/1/2006 10:11:35 AM
y0, twas perdy easy
3/1/2006 10:16:30 AM
that test + the weather =
3/1/2006 10:20:54 AM
can anyone please tell me what she went over last Friday's class ... also, did she start chapter 10 yet?
3/18/2006 11:43:34 AM
did she give us that updated list of lipids?
3/18/2006 8:58:43 PM
she gave up an updated list. i don't believe she started nucleic acids.
3/19/2006 12:05:00 PM
would you guys recommend Sylvia or Knopp? I need to take this class in the fall
3/19/2006 2:35:56 PM
sylvia isn't as bad as people say.... but it's a lot of memorizing and work. not sure know knopp is.
3/19/2006 9:01:20 PM
thx
3/20/2006 2:17:09 AM
the class still sucks...its one of those classes that you can miss everyday...but learn your shit in prob session
3/20/2006 12:18:09 PM
time to whoop another tests asslibrary is going to be packed. knopp is also having a test on friday.get there early folks
3/28/2006 9:36:08 PM
Are there any memorizable structures for test 3. Also what pages in the workbook are going to be on the test.
3/30/2006 12:26:32 PM
ummm
3/30/2006 12:59:13 PM
3/31/2006 10:35:06 AM
3rd test was the hardest last semester
3/31/2006 10:38:32 AM
fuck me in the ass
3/31/2006 12:24:29 PM
that was awesomewhat the balls was that second multiple choice question, something like "which enzyme regulates or is regulated by" or something
3/31/2006 12:57:44 PM
my roommate saw a girl crying after the test
3/31/2006 1:58:24 PM
that test wasn't horrible. but i rushed the last 3 pages because it was WAY TOO FUCKING LONG.... and i left the phosphate group off my lipid.SHIT FUCK ASS.
4/1/2006 8:58:51 AM
got a 26.48 on that test.lots of people said that was goig to be the harder test of them all
4/10/2006 11:04:06 PM
^most of the people who did poorly had trouble due to limited time. i realized i had the last 3 pages to do when there was only 15 minutes left, so i lost a LOT of partial credit on definitions and descriptions because i was rushing. if i had been given 15 more minutes, i would have done a shitload better. still got a B- though
4/11/2006 12:04:13 AM
yeah. i finished in the nick of time. but that meant some of my discussions were BSed. still got a little credit though
4/11/2006 10:56:46 AM
4th exam is the hardest..i remember i got like a 11 on it but didnt really study cause i got that one dropped
4/13/2006 8:54:30 AM
oh yeah. im ready for #4
4/21/2006 6:30:00 AM
4/21/2006 11:17:28 AM
that wasn't so bad. i was prepared for practically everything. and the 6 extra points rocked.
4/21/2006 12:59:03 PM
