Now we've just got to find a way to get Bennerman out of the lineup, he was killing us out there tonite!
12/18/2005 7:59:10 PM
^i only saw the last 10 minutes of the second half but i did see him hit a sweet 3-pointer...other than that he didn't do anything?
12/18/2005 8:03:36 PM
^^I know! How dare he make all his 3-pters and all his free throw attempts! We won't accept such mediocrity. [Edited on December 18, 2005 at 8:04 PM. Reason : .]

he's been the key to our success in the ACC tournament his freshman/junior year...but theres a rule that we're supposed to bench him for the entire regular season just so we can stay on the bubble watch...this is really gay, if we keep playing him we are gonna accidentally win regular season games too
12/18/2005 8:08:58 PM
I think we've actually got him starting now.
12/18/2005 8:12:52 PM
oh god, we might win games and have to keep herb.
12/18/2005 8:13:39 PM
^^ Imagine that, it only took 3.5 years for Herb to figure out he's one of our best players!!!!!!Steep learning curve I guess
12/18/2005 8:15:57 PM
hey, it's 3.25 years man. get that straight. [Edited on December 18, 2005 at 8:18 PM. Reason : .]

he got fouled on most of his under the basket possessions, and i knew he had that many blocks, i was thinkin at least 5 before the half but 6 was impressivehe did a good job, really opened up the arc shot
12/18/2005 9:20:34 PM
simmons still isn't making power moves. that one time he got the travel 1 on 1, he should have just turned and threw it down. he let the other guy force him into a travel. he doesnt know how to use a big man's most important weapon -- his ass -- to create the space he needs. Also, wtf is up with bricking it off the backboard? he's got to make that shot and the 3 point play. Then he will be where e and s williams are.

^ that is a rumor that Herb makes up with players like Cam, Scooter, etc that he doesnt want to play.If Cam sucks on D then why when the season is on the line does he always go back to Cam.Examples:ACC tourney in '03 when we beat GT and #1 Wake.... and we blew a 50 point lead to Redick.ACC tourney last year when we beat some crappy teams and then UNC-Charlotte and UConn[Edited on December 19, 2005 at 12:16 AM. 12/19/2005 12:15:57 AM
because he is the most atheletic and big play prone on the teamalong with that though comes turnovers and him tryin too hard to impress people and a lack of D, Diaz got by him a tonnnn of times tonight when he shouldnt havethe kid can rebound and dunk though
12/19/2005 12:20:13 AM
Scooter admitted that his D sucked and that was the reason he wasn't playing much his first 2 years. Its not a myth, Herb sits guys if they don't play tight, aggressive D. We've held teams to some very low FG %'s over the past few years. Now that we've got some shot blockers and rebounders, our D is gonna be downright nasty this year.[Edited on December 19, 2005 at 12:24 AM. Listen if Herb only likes great defensive players then explain to me why Ilian Evtimov has been roaming the court the last five years. He got burned about 26 times tonight which brings him to a total of 471,673 for his career by my count. All I'm saying is that Cam usually doesnt play during the regular season and we usually lose a lot of games during the regular season.Coincidentally, Cam plays a lot during the postseason and we tend to win a lot of games in the postseason.
12/19/2005 12:24:59 AM
Cam played Diaz better than Atsur did. Atsur got lucky Diaz wasn't on for the early part of the night. Why put a slow white boy on their fastest and best player? Cam is stepping up this year like I always thought he could.
12/19/2005 12:25:14 AM
Atsur leads the team in steals. He's not that slow.
12/19/2005 12:29:52 AM
Bethel is by far our best on the ball defender. Why was he not on Diaz? BTW, Diaz has to be the most out of control player I have seen in a while. I have no idea how some of that bullshit he throws up goes in, but it does. Hell half the time I dont know how he even gets the shot off. Maybe he's just that good, who knows.
12/19/2005 12:33:59 AM
Atsur played Diaz great for about 15 minutes. I didn't see the replay, but I thought Diaz didn't really airball that shot, Atsur was going for the block while Diaz was just starting his jumpshot.Atsur got into trouble once Miami went to the spread offense and decided to just use dribble penetration. I still think we should have gone with a box and 1 in the second half... Stick Bennerman or Grant on Diaz and pack the rest into a zone.

this is greatcam should have been guarding diazno atsur should have been guarding diazno bethel should have been guarding diazThe correct answer was already stated above. Atsur did well until miami took 3 years to figure out that they should clear out and let diaz beat him 1 on 1. That's when an adjustment should have been made. Atsur is our best defender. He might not win a footrace, but he is quick when it counts
12/19/2005 1:08:16 AM
You know what is funny? Atsur fouled out tonight. That mofo may have had 2 fouls the whole game. Of his last two fouls, one was a clean strip, and the other one was a bullshit touch foul. He's one of the best defenders in the ACC even though he's slow, and he got shitted on by the refs. Just thought I'd let you all know thx.[Edited on December 19, 2005 at 1:23 AM. Anyone know why Costner hasn't dressed out for the last two games?
12/19/2005 10:10:40 AM
fracture
12/19/2005 10:19:17 AM
^^He hasnt played last 3 games going back to the Appalachian game, but yeah it would be nice to see him come back and at least be in there with the team.

I know it's been quoted once already, but hahahahahahahaha
12/19/2005 10:26:06 AM
I didnt get to see the very end of the game, i had to leave when we were up by 8 i think it was.Grant just makes me nervous when he tries to drive the ball. He doesnt appear to be in control a lot of the times and I dont think he is very good at making space without being called for a foul. Add to this the fact that he seems to have issues finishing close to the basket and I think he needs a lot of work.I would much rather see bethel or cam penetrating than grant. I would rather see grant post up against a smaller player and let him just shoot over him.Ced is doing great, but he is still a bit soft. He needs to attack the hoop when he is in that close and definately needs to work on finishing plays when he is fouled. I saw at least 3 plays where it appeared, at least to me, he could have gotten a bucket when he was fouled, he just didnt have the ability to put it in. He and Brack were representing on the blocks though, a couple of them got me out of my seat. Having that ability down low definately makes us able to play tighter D on the perimeter.I was also very pleased that there weren't many posessions where we had all but 1 guy outside of the 3 point line just passing the ball around for 20 seconds. They moved very fluid tonight and the box score shows that the ball was shared very well.Miami is a solid opponent with obvious talent at guard and ability down low. I was impressed with our ability to shut their game down and hold them to a poor % tonight. I am interested in seeing how the team can continue this through ACC play, and especially against Alabama coming up.
12/19/2005 10:51:13 AM
Cedric is going to learn how to throw it down when he's in the paint - then he'll be nasty. His timing on blocks is the best I've seen in a sophmore (definitely better than Duncan as a soph.)He has a great instinct for rebounding - and can make some good passes.Once he's more comfortable in his offensive role he's going to be even more fun to watch.
12/19/2005 11:13:59 AM
as long as ced can learn to take it up strong and also use his size to back his man far enough back to get an easy 2 he will be a MAJOR FORCE down low on offense. also, there were a couple of times last night he was careless dribbling down low(dribbling too far away from his body) and he got stripped, he could work on that too.otherwise, 7 blocks!?!?!? If he got credit for every block so far this year, it would probably already be most big men's career blocks for a season.
