^ yeah i noticed that point too but didnt bother...

Anyway Cam demonstrated his horrendous shooting touch tonight by going 3-3 from 3's.

What a joke this guy is...

Maggette wasn't a starter as a freshman for one of the best college teams in history, OMFG!

Shit, that team had Avery, Brand, Battier, Carrawell and Nate James. Fucking sick.

To be considered one of the greatest teams all time should you not win the national championship in that given year?

** everyone knew I would point that out already though I'm sure.

My only problem with Cam is the fact that he averages 2 traveling violations every game, and probably should have more than that.

And it doesnt matter that Maggette didnt start, its the same situation Marvin Williams was in last year, but theone is a dumbass, thats all.

No. NC State's '73 team is widely considered one of the greatest in history, and they didn't win it all. UNLV and Georgetown come to mind as well.

Im curious as to why you said Nate James there.

Just seems Trajan Langdon would have been a more appropriate selection.

Since James didn't really play that season and Trajan was first team all conference.

They were on probation! It's not like they lost a game or anything. (the '73 team). UNLV was undefeated until the Final 4.. also different. Duke wasn't even #1 for the most time in the '99 season.

This thread isn't for that but a 2 loss team who didn't win the National Championship can't be up there in the Top 10 teams even. I'll say they are probably one of the best teams to not win in any year though.

They were, outside of Landgon, very inexperienced in close games and that was ultimately their undoing. If those pieces came back the next year it would have been ugly for other teams though...

Honestly, I think that '99 Duke team was the best college team I've seen. And that isn't taking anything away from UCONN, its just that they are the best college team I've watched in the past 10 years, and its not even close. .

Duke was better than Uconn that year....

They got a little nervous in the championship game...

Hamilton and Moore had the games of their lives.

If Trajan Langdon doesnt act like a glory hog and passes to a WIDE OPEN Will Avery in the corner there might be a different result.

He pulled a P-Riv* and went for the glory instead of giving his team the best chance to win

They were an awesome and talented team. I think they took advantage of a very down ACC that year and like I said, it ultimately cost them.

Could you have imagined if Avery, Brand, and Maggette stayed for another year. Christ, that would have been a buzzsaw. Probably would have been the greatest collection of talent on any one team in college history.

You'd be looking at Avery, Brand, Maggette, Battier, JWill, Carrowell, Boozer, James, Dunleavy.. Jesus.

^ Moore had the best half of his life for sure but Rip definitely had better games that year (although not on that stage). It still amazes me that a team with Jake Voschul (sp?) at C beat a team with Elton Brand..

Eh, I have a hard time believing that P-Riv willingly audibled to 2 QB sneaks in that game. More likely, he was forced into doing that because of those stupid formations which made it obvious where we were going otherwise.

What I'm saying is that I think he was forced to audible into those sneaks because he had nothing else to call in that formation with OSU's D lined up the way it was.

I remember in the OT of the 1st Texas Tech game, he told Galbraith to keep feeding TA because he thought that gave us the best chance to win. And he was damn right on that one. Not the sign of a ballhog.

^^ I still don't. Out of all the talent in the ncaa why would he get drafted? Just tell me why? He is a decent player but thats all. Good grief gimme a freaking break already. Hes not the best in the country in anything. Or a ranked player, in a main category (scoring, rebounds, assists). What Im saying is, there are 1000 cams in the ncaa right now. These are guys who play decent team ball. Cam still dosn't have "draft me" size/ball handling/ shooting ability point blank.

The man is playing decent this year, but thats not gonna land him in the nba by draft. He might get a chance to work out with a few teams, after a couple of years in nbdl or overseas.

Now that ced simmons on the other hand..I admit I underestimated that kid. He has nba written all over him.

^^ they draft potential, period. Pretty much invalidates most of that bullshit you just posted.

Furthermore, it's not a big deal if he has to go overseas or the D league to hone his skills. He will be in the NBA is he was to be there.

I know they draft potential. Look at it like this, you're an NBA head coach overlooking the ncaa talent pool and eligible drafts. Why in the fuck would a head coach stop at cb??? thats all im asking? What is it about his game that would grab the eye of scouts/coaches etc?? Now Ced will grab eyes with his game!

I will say it once more,THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PLAYERS LIKE HIM out there. Whats wanted in the nba is:

1)above average skill
a. shooting/ scoring ability
b. ball handles
c. passing
2)above average size
a. 6'5 and up guards/ with everything under #1
b. fucking monsters in the paint/ obviously

cam dosn't "fit the bill" in any of the categories. Im sorry if it offends some of you, who are die hard pack fans. Naa, I dont give a fuck if it offends you. b/c this is the truth. As far as nbdl/ overseas not many guys make it to the nba from these leagues. By the time they "hone their skills" there is a new person(s) in the spotlight ready to be drafted with everything they need.

Cam wont make it cause he cant dribble.

He's a tough player, with average skill, which makes him a little above average. He still cant dribble though.

If he makes the NBA, it will be off of pure athleticism. He's 6-3 and can jump out of the gym. I think given the summer to work on it, he will shoot just as well from the NBA 3 point line as he does the college line.

Actually...I just thought of this. I never thought Dantay Jones would make it in the NBA from Duke. Cam is a better shooter than he ever was, and he's just as tough.

But like I say...Cam cant dribble...thats gonna kill him.

^ i think Dantay made it cause of politics (Duke/coach K). But he couldn't shoot worth a shit, only thing he could do was d your ass up and rebound.

Politics is another aspect that I left out in the above listings. Who you know/ play for can get you a long long way.

yeah I was about to edit that post and type that Dantay played for Duke, so he had an assload more exposure than Cam does.

Skill wise, They're about the same though. Cam is a better shooter, not quite as good of a defender, while Dantay had a great mid-range game, and Cam's is just average.

cam would have hard time getting drafted....

if it was like 5,6 years ago... then it would be possible like dantay jones...
nowadays alot of international and high school players get drafted high and it makes harder for seniors to get drafted

but i hope he get drafted

.... to nuggets and play w/ hodge

Im really glad I put this under my topics because I made some really outstanding points in this thread.

"
Bennerman is much better suited for NBA basketball than Hodge.

I tried to tell everyone here Hodge offered almost nothing to the NBA.

No one is saying Cam is the next Maggette, but you do realize CM is one of the top scorers in the league now, right?

Cam's never gonna average 10ppg or anything, but there's no reason he can't make the NBA.

It doesn't matter what you did in college.... newsflash, nobody cares. They only care about what you can do for them.

The NBA has plenty of guys in the league that were less productive in college than Cam."

and
Quote :
"
Alright guys, since Bennerman obviously has zero pro potential go ahead and compile a list of all the guards/small forwards in the ACC with a better NBA body than Bennerman.

Shouldn't be too hard to come up with at least 10, right???"

and theone your list is silly. What the NBA wants is guys who can play. Cam can play. No one is saying he's a first round draft pick, he's not. But why can't he be a poor man's Igoudala? Dahntay Jones is a similar player across the board and he's had no trouble getting minutes in the league... Cam is a bad, bad man...

Im going to assume its just general lack of knowledge about the NBA that has misled so many of you about Cam's potential.

I mean hell, there was a guy saying Atsur had NBA potential on page 2. He couldn't even play a convincing NBA player in a movie.

Says it all.

Cam's improved attitude would be a major plus for a lot of teams, too. The Sixers coaches love Shav because he works so hard in practice, much like the way the Nuggets were so high on Hodge because of his work ethic.

im puttin tony bethel in the league before cam. he's a very good point gaurd that can knock down shots if needed. i expect him to find a roster spot next season. i still think cam can and will make it, but maybe not next season, needs to work on his ball handing.

Cam does not have the tools for the NBA. I like Cam, one of my favorites on the team, but be realistic. He can't dribble well and he's not a terribly accurate shooter.

Rashad McCants is undersized for an NBA SG/SF (Same height as Cam).... but he was twice the player Cam was.

Cam is a solid player, but I think you're underestimating how selective the NBA is. Cam is nowhere near as good as Grundy was, and Grundy never made it. What makes you think Cam will?
