lol if you look at the bid history for that ebay auction that went to 2000.... its all BS. the same name would raise the bid 3-4 times in a row, and then another would do it too...

^^the same name raised the bid over and over b/c someone else bid under what they put as they max bid...so ebay automatically "rebids" for them until the other bidder outbid them

Stopped by Circuit city on glenwood today, sign said no Xboxs left. A person outside the door told me that they gave out vouchers to the people that waited from 4pm on. And let everyone go home and come back to pick up the systems today.

If you would have came by Target at 4:30 am you could have gotten a premium system. If you would have came at 7:15 am you could have gotten a core system. I think it's a fairly safe bet to say the only way you're getting one for the next couple of months is to pay extra $$$ off ebay.

the one I preordered isn't coming in until 2nd shipment which will be 2 weeks before xmas. I hope to pay off both systems by selling that second one.

I have a hard time believing that they aren't going to have another shipment until 2 weeks before Christmas. I think they are just blowing smoke up everyone's asses.

I might have an extra one for sale. My mother-in-law's friend was about to pick one up. If she does, she's wanting me to sell it for her (presumably on eBay) and split whatever I make. So if anyone is looking to get one, send me a PM and I'll give you any details as I get them.

I do indeed have an extra one for sale. The lady got it from Costco. My wife is getting all the details of what's with it (I know it's premium, might have 1 extra controller, not sure...) and what the lady wants to get out of it. If it's a crazy mark-up, I'll just go straight to eBay, but if I can get a real buyer here, then I can work that out as well.

If you're interested, send me a PM and let me know, I'll reply with the full details this afternoon.

They just had a story about this on WTVD news...

apparently, a Target in Fayetteville issued vouchers last night to customers and told them to come back this morning to pick up their Xbox.
When the customers returned this morning, they found that their Xbox had been sold.
They were pissed.
WTVD interviewed the store manager and he said the store made a mistake and forgot about the vouchers or something and they were working hard to rectify the situation.
He said they would get another shipment in before Christmas.

I guess there'll be an opening for a store manager position at Target in Fayetteville.

Back when Everquest was first released I was working at EBgames. Some guy called to see if we had any on hand and we had a few left so I told him I'd put one on hold for him.

We sold out of all the rest while he was on his way to the store. Then a few minutes before he gets there this dipshit I worked with sold the copy I marked and set aside to someone else.

The guy shows up after driving for about 2 hours from where he lived and we were like uhh sorry yeah we sold it. He got this look of horror and shock on his face and the quietly mumbled and retreated out the door. A few minutes later he comes charging back in, in fucking TEARS!, and was like "you shouldn;t promise something to someone and then turn around and sell it"......etc. etc.

The point of this is that the guy was in his 30s! And he fucking cried over it! CRIED! RIGHT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE! I could understand if he threatened bodily harm to us, but he fucking CRIED!

SINGULAR

How are they different?

They both pay monthly charges to have an online account to play a video game.

They spend days worth of playing time trying to advance in an imaginary realm.

At the end of the day, neither have gained anything of real value.

The only difference I see is that console gamers have more than 1 game to play online with their accounts.

eh

they are similar

but they are like any other hobby, its all about balancing the time.

The 30 year old that cried is obviously not going to spend 30 min a day playing it like others may.

^ you mean koreans. They die from playing anything, doesnt have to be mmo. Starcraft is a big killer over there.

the fact that you are comparing the benefits of reading to those of playing video games just proves that you are still stuck in your fantasy world.

i mean obviously

noone reads books to escape to a made up realm.

never.

and after every book read, there is always a tangable benifit sitting right there when they are done.

and also there is no reading in games. no stories to speak of. or characters.

I notice youre mentioning no benefits. nor any real argument.

explain to me exactly what the person that reads the newest Harry Potter or Tom Clancy novel gains over the person that plays a game.

Both are done to enjoy an alternate world with made up characters and stories. One is interactive, one isnt. Both are done for entertainment.

Now I will definately grant you that there is much more room for addiction and excessivness when it comes to gaming, especially online interactive gaming.

They had the enjoyment and excitement of playing. I don't play MMORPG's cause I know I would get too addicted and would end up playing them all the time. I do play lots of other games though, and when I was playing them I was thoroughly enjoying it.
