I like reggie, but he really isnt very good at runningback. He doesnt find holes very well and he's big, so he cant fit through the tiny spaces our O-line creates anyway. I'm kinda surprised he doesnt try to take some snaps at FB. He could still get some handoffs on some misdirectin plays and he would probably be a beast blocker/pass protector. I wish he would just so the kid could get some PT...he deserves it.
12/15/2005 1:10:30 PM
we dont use a full backGod dammit wish we did
12/15/2005 1:23:24 PM
we do use a fullback...he's just a 280 lb tight end that gets off from blocking (he said in an interview he really likes blocking for our backs). Good for rb running plays, bad for misdirections and fullback handoffs.
12/15/2005 1:29:46 PM
We'll use a FB when Hickman gets here.

Saw this article on Washington today. Wonder why chuck won't let him transfer to UF or even like USF. I'm thinking the UF part is because of the FSU-UF rivarly and the love for Bowden, but I'm not sure. I don't see why he couldn't transfer to USF or UCF?http://www.newsobserver.com/752/story/378465.html
12/16/2005 12:34:45 PM
i'm thinking its because he recruits florida and doesn't want washington ruining his credibility
12/16/2005 12:43:30 PM
^ same hereJust about everyone that visits us from Florida, also visits UF. With Doc already recruiting negatively against us, we can't afford a tag team of Bobby and Doc. It's better to keep him out of Florida. Not necessarily the right thing to do, but it will benefit us
12/16/2005 12:44:50 PM
Like bad word can't spread over the text messages those guys send instead of doing their coursework in study hall. Regardless where he plays, he can badmouth us. Doesn't make a damned bit of a difference.
12/16/2005 12:48:47 PM
It's a lot harder to badmouth us to Florida prospects from Michigan State than it is from UF
12/16/2005 12:53:02 PM
My point is he's going to do it, regardless. If you saw how much he talks to those guys, you might understand.
12/16/2005 12:57:40 PM
to what guys? the ones from his HS?
12/16/2005 12:59:17 PM
I realize that, and I see your point. Problem is he really only has connections through Killian and his other friends that play for UF, FSU, Miami, and NC State. 98% of the kids who visit both NC State and UF, he doesn't know... so he cant call them and talk shit. If he was at UF (USF, UCF, etc.).... he'd meet every one of them. Not so with Michigan State or Arizona State. He's gonna badmouth us either way... but at least by him staying away from UF, he can't do it nearly as much. I wonder if UF would even offer him? They're approaching the 25 limit, and I'd imagine they have enough kids to fill up all scholarships. My guess is that they wouldn't take him

12/16/2005 1:01:46 PM
He has no argument for playing time when Brown and Baker tore it up, however if you are a runningback i don't see the enjoyment of playing secondary. I suppose for all purposes Washington sees himself as an NFL caliper runningback, but he can't win the starting position over brown, baker or blackman. I hope Chuck does keep him out of Fla. however we will be badmouthed no matter what. But since he isn't travelling with the team to Charlotte i hope Chuck tries to screw him over as much as possible.
12/16/2005 1:04:01 PM
I think playing in the secondary would be pretty f'n awesome. Especially when you get the shot to just light someone's ass up when they're not expecting it. However, being put on an island by yourself would be no fun, cause then you get showcased.Best of luck to him, though. He's a hilarious guy. Maybe the western states would be a nice change of scenery for him.
12/16/2005 1:06:21 PM
There have been "rumors" of Doc steering kids clear of NC State.... There was a comment recently by a Florida safety saying "NC State was really nice... it wasn't as bad as everyone had told me" (Paraphrased, but I'm at work and dont have time to look it up)A lot of folks are convinced it's Doc saying this stuff. There's a definite rift between he and Amato with the way he left.

i wouldn't go that far (bobby was pretty highly rated), but i would say:if bobby was better at his job, he wouldn't have lost it
12/16/2005 5:12:29 PM
go how far?All I'm saying is that he had his chance, and someone better came in and took it, exactly what you said. Rankings out of high school are bullshit, but if he's gonna be a bitch and say "well I was god comming out of high school I deserve to play", then he needs to think about the players that have beaten him for the job...they were ranked higher. Sorry, I just think its bullshit that his parents are now taking shots at the school/coaching staff like there is a north carolina bias. I mean fuck yeah we want more recruits to come from NC so they dont go to that other school, but I dont think this was done to spite him, which is what he is making it sound like....or at least his parents are. Fuck that.
12/16/2005 5:36:43 PM
i sure do know our turnover rate this year got a lotttttttt smaller when we put Andre and Stone inand thats why they stayed there
12/16/2005 5:40:37 PM
yea i wish thered be less of these interviews and press conferences or whatever they do and more class in handling the situationin other words, the grown ups should feel obliged to stay out of it and let the kid find a team that fits him, i dont knock him for leaving the team, who knows he could be the one cog that we dont need, or it could be the move that gets him on track for the rest of his lifebut the back and forth needs to stop
12/16/2005 5:41:22 PM
YeahStone threw a few more picks than I would have liked to see, but with the exception of the one right before halftime at BC, none of them were momentum killers, which is when Davis and others liked to give the ball away.

12/16/2005 5:55:07 PM
I wish the best for the kid but the fact of the matter is he wasn't very good.He wasn't that fast, elusive, or good at breaking tackles. He didn't run hard and on top of that apparentally he had fumbilitis. He's an average college back and I don't expect him to do great things anywhere he goes.If he's looking for playing time tell him to check out a mid major conference.
12/16/2005 5:55:59 PM
I personally think Bobby will be very very good. He just thought he would start from day 1, and he's not. He's fast as shit and can cut like a madman, he's just no patient enough to follow blockers (Reminds me of when Portis first got into Gibbs' system....) and he runs sideline-to-sideline too much. Oh, and he fumbles. I think the kid could have been a playmaker at safety. I think he'll still be a very good RB in a year or so[Edited on December 16, 2005 at 5:59 PM. Reason : dafdsa]
12/16/2005 5:58:30 PM
he doesnt run hard and he's indecisivethats what i took away from the 30 carries or so that I saw...his yards per carry is flat out anemic.
12/16/2005 6:04:37 PM
I still think he can develop into a solid runner. I really wish we could have gotten him in a position to utilize his speed.. he's not a between-the-tackles runner, and he fucks around too much when running swings. I think he really could have been something at slot... and also be a very very good safety[Edited on December 16, 2005 at 6:07 PM. Reason : could have]

this shit about doc recruiting negatively needs to stop, I know doc and he still likes Chuck and NC State.Don't assume just because he isn't putting the positive word in for state that he is putting the negative one in. Its not like alot of these kids are going into recruiting with NC State their top school

I think its NCAA rules to release a player in conference, but its coaches decision about teams on the future schedule.
12/17/2005 11:47:27 AM
Bobby doesn't have anything against us from what I've heard. It's his parents that are so pissed off about this whole situation. Bobby was happy in Raleigh, but his parents (see the Gerald Wilkins fiasco) was the primary reason he's gone.
12/17/2005 11:56:01 AM
Im pretty sure you can transfer within conference if the coach releases you...I think you have to sit out two years though.Someone needs to back me up on this one though, I might be dreaming.
12/17/2005 1:08:03 PM
A coaches release means you sit out 1 year and you can immediately obtain a scholarship at another shool. ACC (And every other conference) prevent inter-conference transferring. You can transfer to another conference school, but it's treated as an "unreleased" transfer... so you have to sit out 2 years. So rally, you are right. It is a 2 year wait if you transfer within the conference..... but there'd be no coaches release signed. If you transfer anywhere without a release, it's a 2 year waiting period per NCAA rules (Which is stupid). If you decide to do an unreleased transfer (For instance, if Bobby wanted to go to Florida (Coach wont sign release) or Miami (ACC).... he would be without a scholarship next year at any school per NCAA rules....and still would have to sit out an extra year after he's gotten a scholarship. In other words, if he goes to a "no-no" school... not only will he have to sit out 2 years, he also won't be able receive scholarship funds until 1 year after he's transferred...which is exactly why Brent Shaeffer went the JUCO route instead of opening his recruitment after leaving Tenn. 12/17/2005 1:26:02 PM
Does sitting out burn a year of eligibility?
12/17/2005 2:06:14 PM
yeshe would lose 2 years of eligibility (he could redshirt one)
12/17/2005 2:07:25 PM
Bobby Washington fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The first is never get involved in a land war in Asia. The second, only slightly less well known, is this: never go up against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha

i've heard arizona, michigan state, eastern kentucky, and south florida.so he'll probably end up somewhere else.would be cool if he transferred to App and came to Carter Finley next year.

Man to go from Miami to NC State to Eastern Kentucky is bad sign. He fell about as fast as Buster Douglas. I bet the coaches at EKU are shitting and pissing themselves at the thought of having him dominate for a couple of years (assuming he can learn not to fumble).[Edited on February 6, 2006 at 3:30 PM.
