well that friend of mine is an RA, and he talked shit about that other RA that wrote people up, so the U Housing pressed on him and he might lose his job because of his perspective on the situation. how gay
11/4/2005 6:22:02 PM
oh, okay... that is lame, but it makes more sense if he's an RA
11/4/2005 6:23:16 PM
god forbid someone have a fuckin opinion about a serious matter that affects everyone, RA or not.[Edited on November 4, 2005 at 6:24 PM. Reason : .]

pretty much this is how it is and they made it clear at the meeting: you either go by their rules or not, and if you dont, screw you, we're not bending shit for a few students from alexander.
11/4/2005 6:30:52 PM
that they "should be crucified" =/= "im going to crucify"i mean i had problems with paul cousins and the way he handles students beforebut there is such a thing as FREEDOM OF SPEECHfucking idiot
11/4/2005 6:32:40 PM
i'm not trying to be pro paul cousins, but he does go through a lot of students every semester, and as in my own case, he could have taken it easier. but it always could be worse. i was kicked off campus, but not expelled/suspended so they guy's just doing his job. the only good thing, is that this matter has been elevated to a point where it grabbed media's attention and is not just a little fire "brewing" in the NCSU's judicial system. perhaps if it gets big enough, state will create a rule on using pictures as evidence and i can garantee you right now that it will not favor us, students but still, as of right now, those charges against the students in alexander should be dropped just because it's a new thing and for chris's sake, the RA is a dooche, talking about that, at the meeting they brought up that she hasn't been seen for a week, does anyone know what happened to her or her whereabouts.?
11/4/2005 6:36:59 PM
everything ive ever heard about him indicates that hes an asshole on a power trip - i know of several people who were victims in the events that took them to his office, and he basically went out of his way to tell them they were shitty people and make them feel like they had somehow caused what had happened to them

11/4/2005 6:48:31 PM
no, they werenti dont believe telling an 18 year old girl, whos having issues with an abusive ex bf, that she is a damaged person and then trying to psychoanalyze her relationship with her mother - when their relationship is very strong

New pastimes: 1. Photoshopping beers into the hands of freshmen at parties.2. Setting up fake parties on the Facebook to fuck with the ALE.[Edited on November 4, 2005 at 8:01 PM. Reason : add your own]

What I want to know is why in the fuck my goddamned tax dollars are being spent to pay some lardass fucking Public Safety Officer to look at the motherfucking WolfWeb.You get a threat on TWW, fine. Investigate it. But don't pay some sack of shit to sit on here and read it 24/7. God knows if somebody IMPORTANT in the Government found out you were wasting fucking labor (and thusly tax dollars) like that, the whole goddamned Department would get canned.[Edited on November 4, 2005 at 11:18 PM. You're not thinking far enough ahead.A photochopped picture that looks good enough to fool an RA into turning somebody in would be cause enough for the university not to consider digital photos taken from the internet sufficient evidence to prove the crime.
11/5/2005 12:32:01 AM
11/5/2005 12:35:05 AM
I kinda figured it went without saying that it was pretty stupid to post incriminating pictures of yourself on the internet.
11/5/2005 12:41:37 AM
11/5/2005 8:55:42 AM
what i don't understand is that the issue has switched from pictures on the internet being used as evidence, which i think is completely legitimate assuming the acts in the picture can be verified, from the real issue.... people that are underage drinking... i mean... seriously, if you're going to do something illegal, make sure you're ready to face the consequences. if you don't want trouble, don't do something stupid... or at the very least, be smart and not post pictures on the freakin internet.
11/5/2005 5:13:14 PM
my point is it's not always YOU that posts the pic and that any number of things could be in the cans/cups.if campus police/rpd/ale enter the party they can verify what's going on.the photo can't do that.
11/5/2005 5:27:22 PM
WWPCD?
11/5/2005 5:43:11 PM
^^ why does it have to be rpd/ale/or campus police... people in the picture can't verify what it's in the cup? And if you're holding a budweiser can... although it's circumstantial, i think it's pretty safe to say there's beer in the can, or that there was beer in the can. and again, if you don't want pictures of you being posted up on the internet with you drinking underage... either don't drink underage, or don't let people take pictures of drinking when you're underage... pretty simple.
11/6/2005 1:50:39 PM
can you prove it?what if the person says, water was in my cup, or can. they have no way of proving anything. which is why it's all bullshit.
11/6/2005 3:10:37 PM
which would be fine if this was wake county district court, but it's not... read the code of student conduct and understand that the university doesn't use the same standard of proof as our criminal justice system.
11/6/2005 4:32:49 PM
11/6/2005 4:36:54 PM
Photoshop nuclear warheads, pot, strippers, Paul Cousins and everything else into your dorm room (With Beer!)...and RA's!
11/6/2005 5:00:10 PM
^^^ well then let the lawsuits beginbecause it's fucking horseshit
11/6/2005 5:18:59 PM
I don't see how photos could prove beyond reasonable doubt that they were violating university policy. Conviction on suspicion is weak, not to mention unfair.
11/6/2005 5:25:08 PM
who needs reasonable doubt?
11/6/2005 5:27:12 PM
Paul Cousins made me pay to have my computer reformatted at Best Buy, when I could have easily done it myself and saved $60. I do not like that man whatsoever. He was a prick to me for no reason.
11/7/2005 12:11:15 AM
how the hell did he make you do that?
11/7/2005 12:17:35 AM
paul cousins made me remove a rib to suck my own dick because he wouldn't do it.
11/7/2005 12:19:28 AM
^^he said either i show him a receipt or not be able to have a unity account anymore
11/7/2005 5:15:22 AM
why would he make you reformat your computer?
11/7/2005 6:58:27 AM
it seems that most of the students here seem to believe that since this is a public university, it must abide by the standards used in our criminal justice system... but that's not the case. hell, even our "right" to free speech can be limited if it interferes with the university's ability to fulfill their educational mission. so while it may seem unfair that the administration doesn't have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that some kids were drinking beer in pictures, that's the way it is. if you want to change this, then you have to go up to the trustees, i believe. i think unc-ch uses the beyond a reasonable doubt standard of proof, but hey... some schools in the unc system use the civil standard of proof which is basically more than half... so at least our rights are being protected to an extent.
