well hopefully we get the #1 pick, the way we're going now, might not even happenwe're due some lottery luck after last year's bs
2/9/2006 7:46:32 PM
gay is good, but he has more potential than morrison and redick. i think with those two, what you see is what you get. the concern i've heard is that gay is basically gerald wallace part 2, but i think gay can shoot better than wallace.
2/9/2006 8:27:45 PM
Gay, Morrison, and LaMarcus Aldridge are all pretty solid picks...If we draft outside of the top three again, we're probably fucked. And I wouldnt count on Okafor to be healthy next year. He's likely gonna be a part time player his whole career...[Edited on February 10, 2006 at 1:10 AM. Reason : a]
2/10/2006 1:09:26 AM
its a good thing they got sean may to back him up
2/10/2006 1:15:01 AM
^^agreed, but if they draft a big guy, people will be callin for heads. they need to take a SG in this draft, even if they do want to get some depth at pf/c. i'm hopin for morrison. i think gay has the most potential, but morrison is exactly what the team needs right now.
2/10/2006 1:45:44 AM
they have to get rudy gay before anyone else
2/10/2006 1:48:01 AM
god I hope they trade away their lottery pickthis draft is going to be as shitty as the diop/curry/chandler onealdridge is the only potential all star and hes injury proned and unmotivated at times
2/10/2006 1:48:58 AM
The team needs some outside shooting.Draft JJ.
2/10/2006 1:49:38 AM
a shooting guard should be gotten through free agency. they'll have some money to spend, so if i were GM that would be priority number 1. taking gay over morrison is tricky, cause he's got a lot of potential, but i don't know if a fledgling club should take a chance like that
2/10/2006 1:50:09 AM
a fledgling club shouldn't draft a young, exciting player to distract from the lack of Ws?
2/10/2006 1:53:18 AM
I'd much rather have Gay than Morrison.Morrisons lack of athleticism is gonna hurt him in the pros... he already looks a little sloppy in college...great scorer at the collegiate level, but theres a decent chance he could be a poor mans Keith Van HornAnd Keith van Horn sucks himself
2/10/2006 2:52:56 AM
its true....right you are. well as right as you can be in a prediction. i guess i'm just lookin at the here and now. gay would probably be the more exciting choice because he could be leaps and bounds better than morrison. i think that'd be the best choice for a young franchise.my gut still says morrison, but i'd understand and be excited about draftin gay. (this obviously excludes all the fun "gay" jokes that would ensue, since that'd obviously be a bonus of drafting him)
2/10/2006 3:10:26 AM
Yesterday was a very good day for the Bobcats and their chances to land the #1 pick. The Knicks with Francis & Rose should definitely win more games than us.The Atlanta Hawks didnt dump Al Harrington (god that franchise is stupid) so they will hopefully still win more games than us too.We definitely have to worry about the Magic a little bit now though...If we can somehow get Rudy Gay we could make the playoffs next year if we wanted to. (although i doubt we will, b/c we're probably gonna conserve cap room for one more season and the draft figures to be extra deep in '07)
2/24/2006 9:10:59 AM
they've decided to sit okafor for the remainder of the yearhttp://www.nba.com/bobcats/release_okafor_060314.htmlcontinuing the trend of being super-overly-cautious with our young guys, but i can dig that i guess
3/15/2006 10:01:45 AM
The Knicks dont have a lottery pick, they traded it... and im pretty sure the Bobcats will end up with the number one unless something crazy happens...
3/15/2006 10:25:08 AM
Um, think about this for a second. If the Knicks traded away their pick it doesnt just magically disappear.Someone else gets the pick. Also, there is a draft lottery. So even with the worst record you only have like a ~30% chance of landing the first overall pick.
3/15/2006 1:23:53 PM
we need some early nineties hornets and magic luck93magic take chris webber with #1, trade him to golden state for penny (taken at #3) and three future first-rounders92magic take shaq with #1hornets take Zo with #291hornets take LJ with #1man i forgot how solid that stretch was for the bugs
3/15/2006 1:29:37 PM
yeah just imagine if we had gotten Shaq instead of Zo...I remember a lot of Hornets fans were mad we didnt take Dikembe over LJ.I liked the pick at the time... in retrospect the pick was better for us simply b/c we ended up with Mourning at center anyway. Mutombo did have the better career though (mostly due to LJ's bad back)We certainly had our share of busts though... JR Reid #5... Rex Chapman, Kendal Gill....
3/15/2006 1:43:58 PM
George Fuckin Zidek....I almost completely quit pulling for the Hornets when they picked him at 11 I think. What the hell was that? Then they pull off a good pick in Ricky Davis at like 22 and trade him before he gets PT to prove his worth.
3/15/2006 2:00:28 PM
yeah ricky davis was a team cancer though...Zidek was like #13 i think that was a horrible pick.EVERYONE knew it was a bad pick at the time too.I remember he lost us a game one time on a lane violation. That definitely tested everyones faith as a hornets fan. Also Kirk Haston from IU. He was like 22nd or so but come on... you know that guy isnt gonna be good.
3/15/2006 2:10:04 PM
good effort last night in a loss to the wizards
3/15/2006 3:02:46 PM
hey rally i know the pick didnt just go away... i meant the knicks dont have a chance to cash in on their bad season with the good draft pick someone else is using.... who has it again? theyve traded so many i dont know who has them anymore...
3/15/2006 3:14:09 PM
i think the Bulls as part of the Eddy Curry fleecing errr.. trade
3/15/2006 3:44:11 PM
Yeah bulls got the knicks pick for 330 pounds and 6 points a game. Worst record has a 25 percent chance of getting first pick, second worst record has 20 percent chance, and so on. Only the first three picks are determined by lottery, so the team with the worst record can pick no worse than 4th.
3/15/2006 5:06:53 PM
I'm torn between wanting to win a few more games right away (with morrison) or being one of the worst again next year with the possibility of exponential improvement (gay).I'm leaning toward gay, because to be honest I hope we pick first NEXT year. How sweet would it be to get Oden?
3/15/2006 7:06:08 PM
damn, gerald had 41 points on 17 of 22 shooting tonight . felton also had a good game with 28 and 10. i can see these guys being pretty good in a couple years, if not next year
3/29/2006 1:44:32 AM
they should not get gay. gay sucks. they should take the texas guy
3/29/2006 2:26:09 AM
Well, the team probably won't get the top pick (though they still have a shot at it), but hopefully their 4 game win streak to end the season will give them something to look forward to next year.
4/20/2006 7:37:10 AM
I think its become clear Felton needed more minutes all season...looking forward to next year1. new draft pick2. Okafor, May, Wallace hopefully healthy all season3. Clearing out the remainder of the expansion draft riff raff4. Signing some Free Agents, because we have money to spend5. I will be at one game at leastWay to finish out strong this year... 26-56, Go Bobcats!
4/20/2006 10:17:46 AM
^ we also need to strongly consider trading Brevin Knight, while his stock his high.Yes, he is injury prone, but he has been in the top 5 in assists and steals since he came into the league in the late 90's. He also had the number 1 assist:turnover ratio in the league this year.We could move him and get something good in return.Paging TreeTwista!
4/20/2006 10:27:10 AM
haha *Answers page*went to the game last night...great stuff...i actually got like a 20 second video clip that i probably shouldnt post without the expressed written consent of the nba...but it has a voskuhl jumper then a voskuhl alley oop pass so i might have to post that shitbut yeah, 18 wins last year, 26 this year...with tons and tons of injuries...bickerstaff deserves soem props...haha last night alan anderson handed me my game program since it was fan appreciation night...go bobcats!
4/20/2006 10:31:43 AM
i got anderson's signature back at the open house thing before the season. he was at the table with okafor and i was like "alan who?"...turns out he had more of an impact on our season than okafor. lolol ()
4/20/2006 12:08:37 PM
haha at least in the last couple monthsi would holler at anderson and kevin burleson when i'd see them walking and they'd always holler back cause most people didnt even know they were players
4/20/2006 12:45:21 PM
props to bickerstaff but hopefully he'll fire himself this offseason and hire paul silas
4/20/2006 12:59:53 PM
We're still another season away from being playoff contenders. Also getting a little worried that Gerald Wallace and Emeka Okafor are never going to be reliable options because they are so injury prone.Felton ended up being okay but it sucks we missed out on the two legitimate stars Chris Paul & Dwight Howard the last two years...Im hoping to god we get the legitimate star this year Rudy Gay instead of Adam Morrison.[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 2:40 PM. Reason : a]
4/20/2006 2:40:02 PM
i think wallace will be better off when okafor's in there. he wont have to try to fly around so much for blocks with a legitimate shot blocking threat already there. of course that theory relies on okafor staying healthy as well. still though, the injury situation cant be any worse than it was this season....can it?i think bickerstaff should coach next year and then bail. the original plan was to be seriously competitive next year, but i think the year after next is the one to go for. bickerstaff has shown he can get competitiveness (if thats a word) out of the guys, might as well do that for one more season.
4/20/2006 3:31:22 PM
Steven A. Smith said last night that Bickerstaff was stepping down to concentrate on his GM duties... And i will be happy if they bring in a guy like Paul Silas
4/20/2006 3:35:38 PM
I think Silas is out of the question...he is getting buku (spelling?) from ESPN and he is STILL getting paid on TWO head coaching contractsalso a nice sidenote...Gerald Wallace became the THIRD PLAYER EVER to average 2+ steals and 2+ blocks per game...he finished with like 2.5 bpg and 2.1 spg...third player ever...other two players were pretty good...David Robinson and Akeem Olajuwon...not bad company
4/20/2006 4:16:43 PM
beaucoup
4/20/2006 4:55:35 PM
^^ yeah Wallace is a pretty incredible athlete... with his style of play he's gonna miss a few games here and there.... I just hope the constant injuries dont start adding up and destroy his athleticism...I dont think he has the skill set to transition to a set shooter.....
4/20/2006 5:11:33 PM
Team needs to get Rudy Gay...I think he will be a NBA shooting guard. Then the Starting 5 could be:5) Brezec4) Okafor-May3) Wallace2) Gay1) Felton-KnightThats a good top 7 with May and Knight being good backups.
4/20/2006 5:13:15 PM
yep.We clearly need Gay.I'm sorry but Morrison could barely guard anyone in his weaksauce conference. There is no way he can guard anyone in the NBA. He can play the two man game a little bit but he is gonna get absolutely undressed by any offensive player worth a shit. Also he is way too clumsy and is going to turn it over everytime he tries to put it on the floor for more than one dribble.Id rather draft someone with potential like Rudy Gay. He gets to the basket effortlessly, he's got great size, and he's gonna be a scorer. The only real drawback to Gay's college game is that he didnt work hard enough for the ball, but thats not really an issue in the NBA, particularly with Felton at the helm.People just didnt get to see what he could do because Williams was hell bent on driving & dishing to Boone/Armstrong and Rashard Anderson was launching threes before he even caught the pass.
4/20/2006 5:23:26 PM
Morrisson is a better shooter than Gay but Gay has NBA athleticism and you cant coach that
4/20/2006 6:20:30 PM
Agreed. As much as I like watching Morrison bang a basketball into his face, I would much rather have Gay.
4/20/2006 8:16:38 PM
Our late winning surge gave us the 4th worst record ahead of Portland, NY (Chicago), and Atlanta. So we can pick anywhere from 1-7, based on how the lottery comes out. I want someone who can score, be it Morrison, Gay, Carney, Roy or Foye.
4/20/2006 8:32:07 PM
Ohhhh I forgot about Rodney Carney. I guess he is a small forward in the NBA?Felton, Wallace, and either Gay or Carney would be a nice 3-some to build on.
4/20/2006 8:33:46 PM
both carney and gay went out like chumps, though. folded under the pressure
4/20/2006 8:35:55 PM
or they could go for aldridge and hold out for a SG in next year's free agency....i kinda like this plan cause lets face it, primo is the weak link on defense.
4/20/2006 10:57:23 PM
^But his 'brain freeze' commercial is definantly top ten all time
4/20/2006 11:10:57 PM
I dont agree.Gay scored 20 and was pretty unguardable in the game against GMU.They never gave him the ball.
4/21/2006 8:24:20 AM
