as far as mainstream bands go, I think 311 was a good idea. I still think transistor is a sweet album

THE TOADIES1 show reunion for old times sake.
10/13/2005 11:48:25 AM
haha i just listened to a lot more of crossfade's stuff. i had heard their two singles which were complete nicklebackeand then i listened to some more songs and they even have some raprock songs on their cd.at least the raprock was up tempo
10/13/2005 12:15:19 PM
God damn this is going to be terrible.
10/13/2005 2:30:00 PM
okay...I'll be that guy.....i would see anybody over dashboard whiney fucking confessional....lets get a local group of highschool kids if we want emo kids to be mad at their dads for us.......I would be happier than hell if Crossfade came....they do a great live show....even if you dont like their music that much
10/13/2005 2:30:03 PM
Right... I'm sure they do...I'd take emo over radioraprock any day. Crossfade can gargle my ballbag.
10/13/2005 2:31:34 PM
10/13/2005 2:39:25 PM
eh, i guess i'd pick middle school emo over generic rap rock.that being said, unless the show is free i doubt i'll be going.
10/13/2005 3:02:06 PM
Crossfade would be better for the sheer fact that it wil be free, no one will pay for either of those bands.
10/13/2005 3:05:38 PM
if dashboard plays, there are gonna be more tickets sold to non-ncsu students (high school and middle school kids) than to ncsu students
10/13/2005 3:07:26 PM
10/13/2005 3:09:37 PM
But most of them will be underage....I hope no one on the Homecomming committee this year is retained for next year.
10/13/2005 3:22:25 PM
why are so many people on here against what they play on the radio? the radio tends to play what people ask for, and like...i like crossfade's singles. and i've heard of dashboard confessional but i'm not sure what songs they sing
10/13/2005 3:23:24 PM
^ you sir, are a tool.
10/13/2005 3:32:35 PM
I'm just saying...people were talking about it in class yesterday when the article came out and most people were excited about the 2 candidates. Then I come on here and most people are against it.
10/13/2005 3:40:56 PM
most of us here don't listen to popular music, that's why.
10/13/2005 3:44:20 PM
i will take a small niche band that is actually good for their genre over some watered down shit. And Dashboard hit its musical prime years ago when Chris Carrabba was still by himself. The intelligent thing to do would have good bands from each genre at a show (country, rap, rock, etc.) to appeal to everyone.
10/13/2005 3:44:38 PM
I'm surprised we can't find some rich donor to donate more money for a decent homecoming concert since we have such a low budget. That's what kills us, my friends. No dough.[Edited on October 13, 2005 at 3:47 PM. Reason : yea]
10/13/2005 3:46:37 PM
because the people on this site don't wanna be mainstream, c'mon man get with the program, if more than 10 people have heard of the band then they sold out.
10/13/2005 3:48:25 PM
THERES 10 DAYS TO HOMECOMING THATS WHY
10/13/2005 4:00:58 PM
props to Papa for making a point....
10/13/2005 7:09:42 PM
That wasn't a point you fucking idiot. It is not about these bands selling out, it is about these 2 candidates sucking. Who cares if they are played on the radio? They suck, whether on an indie label or plastered all over Times Square.
10/13/2005 7:18:08 PM
^^^^ must someone bring up this IGNORANT point everytime people criticize bands on here.i could name plentyof bands who have been all over mtv and the radio etc that i love(old incubus, deftones, foo fighters, old rage against the machine, queen, led zepplin, coldplay, U2...) it just happens to be that the MAJORITY of the bands i listen to arent huge. its not because lots of ppl listen to these bands that i dont like them. its because they suck
10/13/2005 10:40:18 PM
there must be a reason they are so popular....they suck to you but not everybody man....i hate dashboard....but somebody likes them....oh well....ignorance is bliss man...enjoy it
10/13/2005 11:44:15 PM
nah bands like crossfade get thrown nearly straight onto radio. just about ANY band with a good recording..if they know someone in order to get signed can get huge and sell tols if they can get put straight onto the radio and into big music magazines (coverslots on these magazines are BOUGHT not earned) people are going to buy their music.but yea whatever i wasnt expecting to like who they picked anyways haha
10/13/2005 11:48:09 PM
Hahaha, we're ignorant... yet you like Crossfade... enough said.
10/13/2005 11:48:12 PM
i was actually sad to find out that even magazines like AP, allllll the spots are bought. even small blurbs about CDs. and the coverband and everything. i mean i knew pretty much all music magazines and things were like that but i figured some of them wouldnt be as bad as others but i was defintiely wrong.kind of takes the hype out of making something of yourself as a band. you pay to get videos made(which obviously i already knew), pay to get interviews and your video played on tv a lot of the times, pay to get featured in magazines... it sucks. even the smaller band things are like this now
10/13/2005 11:52:45 PM
10/13/2005 11:58:51 PM
Two words: Crazy Town. They got on a major label and were all over radio and on MTV with a huge budget video as soon as their first single was released. Before their album was released (on a major, remember), they had never played a show. The music industry sucks, and plays its customers for fools. Period. <-- CapnObvious
10/14/2005 1:55:50 AM
^ couldnt have said it better myself
10/14/2005 3:07:41 AM
read like half of page 1ok all i know is that if ncsu wants to fill the stands they better get rappers
10/14/2005 4:50:26 AM
10/14/2005 9:21:04 AM
sounds like OTEP....thats one cazy bitch
10/14/2005 10:24:28 AM
^^Well, you can't deny that the show would be entertaining and interesting.
10/14/2005 11:48:18 AM
email from Homecoming Chair
10/16/2005 10:27:30 PM
We should have gotten Andrew WK.Dude is a ball of energy.
10/16/2005 11:03:19 PM
so sad instead of rotating music types they should spend less money and get maybe 2 types of musicians/bands to perform. this is so retarded. i cant imagine anyone paying money to see this band
10/16/2005 11:17:39 PM
I'd rather stab my ears out.
10/16/2005 11:34:20 PM
10/16/2005 11:50:23 PM
I knew they'd take the cheap route. No way I'm going. And I'll bet I'm not alone in that decision.
10/16/2005 11:51:48 PM
10/16/2005 11:55:45 PM
I don't understand why the homecoming committee couldnt pool their resources with the folks at Lincoln Theatre, Disco Rodeo, or any other place that has experience bringing concerts to the areaJust by looking at bands that are coming to the Raleigh area that week, like Sevendust and Cake, they couldve at least worked something out to have those bands or someone even better play.
10/17/2005 12:02:07 AM
Dashboard is asking 75KGreen Day wanted 150KI would have rather paid $20 to see Green Day, than $10 to see Dashboardfuck our homecoming committee[Edited on October 17, 2005 at 12:30 AM. Reason : ]
10/17/2005 12:29:52 AM
wonder how much someone like the deftones would cost heh
10/17/2005 12:31:20 AM
10/17/2005 12:48:28 AM
The Andrew WK show I saw at Lincoln is a very fond memory, and I hate Lincoln more than I can express in words.
10/17/2005 12:58:08 AM
So who is actually going to this garbage?
10/27/2005 7:46:41 PM
