You do realize that baseball playoffs and Arrested Development come on the same channel, right? Hence its hard to air AD while a baseball game is on.

Hard, but not impossible. Have you ever watched any of those 24-hour news networks? FOX could run ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT and Playoff Baseball on a split screen and have HOUSE scrolling across the bottom.

really? is that why when i turn on the show the past 2 times i've only seen baseball?

i'm saying to put the show on after the games at 10PM and tell the local markets to eat a dick over the news.

condescending asshole

Except for they would never air at 10, they would air sometime between 1130 and 1230....the ratings would suck even more.

Before I just thought you didnt care enough about baseball to realize these were on the same channel, and you were assuming the show was not airing so it didnt have to compete with baseball, but your "idea" is moronic at best...why would the network that ends primetime at 10PM air new episodes at 1230 in the morning? And they sure as hell arent going to tell the affiliates to "eat a dick" in regards to the local news...sadly to say, the local news is what gets local advertisers dollars. Advertisers tend to give their money to stations that have local news.

no, i used to be a huge fan of baseball, back when sammy was something, but i've since been turned off by it's pace. and baseball is my favorite sport to play.

it's just that i have such a hard-on for arrested development, there's no substantial amount of bloodflow to my brain.

surely you can forgive me.

After endless years of baseball and double Prison Break, tonight's Arrested Development is a solid hour of new material.

"This room, or someone in it, might even be wired with a listening device."

That was probably my favorite part of the episode... with the possible exception of the mole/jetpack scene.

Read the article. They're putting it on hold until sweeps so they can gauge it again, and cutting the order back to 13 episodes. It'll be on again in a couple weeks.

on the season 2 DVD set, there's an outtake where David Cross freaks out and starts cussing and ranting about how inept the network is about promoting the show, and he lists, off the top of his head, every award and nomination the show had received in its first year. the whole cast starts clapping and everyone seems to have the same feeling...

its not that the show itself is too smart or inaccessible or anything like that.. its just a network that has no idea how to promote its shows. there were two new episodes of AD this monday, the second one one of the funnier half-hours i've seen of the show, and all i remember being advertised on sunday during the football games, and throughout the previous two weeks was the trading spouses crazy lady. GOREGYLES!!! PSYCHICS!!! just throw a couple Gob quips and a David Cross gay joke on an advertisement and we've got 5 seasons of the show.

at least the show never dumbed itself down or sold out... maybe now we'll get really bitter episodes and they'll just go nuts with it for the last eight shows.

The show order was cut from 22 to 13 episodes...it hasnt been officially cancelled yet, just pulled off the air through November sweeps in favor of repeats of "Prison Break"

Actually, blame the prehistoric Nielsen system...people ARE obviously watching the show (see DVD sales), but these arent the same people that are part of Nielsen homes. The thing is, we have the technology with digital cable and whatnot to determine how many people are actually watching a show rather than making a guess based on a handful of people. Nielsen families do not have HDTV (because Nielsen has yet to figure out how to add the ratings for an HDTV broadcast to its analog counterpart together) and do not have DVRs...so basically, its a bunch of coots with their analog cable and/or antenna deciding what stays on the air.

it doesn't help that FOX is so inconsistent with airing this show. with all the awards and attn it gets in the industry along w/ dvd sales, something is wrong if it is constantly struggling to stay on the air

sad sad situation...definately my fav tv comedy ever

COULD YOU IMAGINE THE REVOLUTION IF THEY GAVE NEILSEN BOOKS/BOXES TO PEOPLE WHO HAD FUCKING TASTE???

i forget the estimates, so i won't try and bullshit and make something up, but there was/is always a decent % of people who would lie in the books

they would just fill that shit in at the end of the period

bullshit system if ever there was one...
and especially now

^^ Same thing happened with F&G. Constantly being moved and pre-empted, so even the people who wanted to watch it couldn't find a new airing.

^ totally agree. i was JUST thinking this a few minutes ago. Obviously it hurts the ratings even more (like F&Gs) when the show is never on consistently and moved to random nights etc. They didnt act like they had much faith in the show from early in the season to me. it began getting the shaft about 3 weeks in maybe? 4th at thr latest

i mean, when they filming the end of season 1, they weren't sure what was going to happen
