maybe we'll go through all the names this year. if i remember (i may be wrong), but if they go through every name, don't they then go to Greek letters or names?

my prediction is that this storm is going to strengthen to a Category 1 Hurricane before the front that is in the pacific NW comes along and weakens it with wind shear. I also think it's going to miss the islands and take a more northerly track before being pushed back out to sea.

let's see how i do this time

i think its just gonna be basically the same as the last storm, act all big and fall apart at the last minute and not be anything much to worry with, although i would love for it to jog north.

look at the "twins"

the first one i dont think will be a fish, but the one behind it i think will be the first fish of the season.

If tropica systems keep developing at this rate, they're going to run out of warm water to feed on.

that one behind the TD is still just a wave, but it looks about the same as the first one in structure...the deep tropics stay warm year round, also the Carribean....what prevents storms from forming year round is major shear.

that second wave is looking fairly well organized already. i just looked for possible fronts approcoaching that would cause some wind shear and don't see any at least until early next week hitting that one. if it continues to organize, the shear may have a minimal affect....we'll just have to see.

i won't make any predictions on it until it gets a little closer

If they separate, that wave is supposedly going to become T.D. 6 and eventually Franklin.

Emily looked promising as to turn towards us, but now it looks like Florida is the main target again.

Damn Bermuda High.

I know people think Dennis "fizzled out" but it did quite a bit of damage to one asskicking oil rig:

Also I have friends in Pensacola who had just finished rebuilding their homes from Ivan three weeks ago that are looking at another rebuilding project after Dennis. It sucks for them.

MIAMI (Reuters) - Mother Nature tidied up a man-made mess off the coast of the Florida Keys when the force of Hurricane Dennis flipped a sunken U.S. Navy ship into the perfect position to help form an artificial reef.

Powerful waves and currents generated by the hurricane flipped over the 510-foot (155-meter) USS Spiegel Grove and set it to rest on its keel on the ocean floor, reef project managers said on Tuesday.

That was the position Key Largo scuba divers and tourism promoters had aimed for when they scuttled the 6,880-tonhulk in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary in 2002.

"I'm flabbergasted," said Rob Bleser, the volunteer project director, after diving on the reoriented wreck on Monday. "Nature took its course and put it where it belongs"

The Cold War relic was the largest vessel ever deliberately sunk to form the backbone of a coral ridge to nurture sea life and amuse scuba divers.

Work crews had planned to slowly sink it upright. But it went down prematurely and rolled over, creating a navigational hazard when it landed bottom-up with the stern on the seabed and the bow jutting above the waterline.

Salvage crews used giant airbags and steel cables to nudge it over onto its starboard side, where it was safe from passing vessels but slightly disorienting for divers to swim through.

Then Hurricane Dennis blitzed past on Saturday, staying well west of the islands of the Florida Keys but kicking up 20-foot (5.6-meter) waves.

"Waves that high in close proximity to the reef can produce unusually strong currents with tremendous force," said National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Strahan.

The Spiegel Grove carried landing craft and cargo in the Mediterranean and Caribbean and was retired in 1989. It lies in 130 feet of water, a few miles off Key Largo.

Emily got the mess kicked out of her from passing over that bit of land. The elevation must be pretty high there. I haven't looked at an upper level sounding, but was there any shearing going on?

It's going to skirt the coast and turn back out to shore just like the last 10 hurricanes. At the very worst.

Dear TD #10,
Please don't be a pansy and actually do something. Irene was just a big tease....just like most women. Now I know you aren't a Cape Verde storm so we can't expect much from you, but for the love of God, NC has only seen tropical clouds once this season.

^^Apparently Jose was too sleepy. This morning it was downgraded from a depression to nothing.

I suspect that it will sneak over the border when no one is watching and reform then.

shes a hurricane now

by the way I had a dream about a month ago that the L named hurricane came right for NC, and completely caught us off guard and really did some damage, just waiting to see if that was a sign of things to come.
