I'm gonna see the movie friday night[Edited on December 9, 2005 at 5:17 AM. Reason : whooo page 3]
12/9/2005 5:17:15 AM
20 people showed up for the midnight premier last night.
12/9/2005 11:07:11 AM
I'm excited :x
12/9/2005 11:12:40 AM
so it was a really empty theater?
12/9/2005 4:09:16 PM
^^^Cause everyone has exams, dude.
12/9/2005 4:30:11 PM
I just got back an hour ago.I enjoyed it a lot. They left out a ton of little things (that are completely understandable), but they left out my favourite paragraph of the series, which was a bit of a let down. Oh well.Probably go see it again when I get back to Winston.
12/9/2005 10:51:14 PM
What a fucking terrible movie.
12/10/2005 12:35:52 AM
^ did you actually watch it?
12/10/2005 12:55:35 AM
Yes.And it was fucking terrible.I'm thoroughly upset that I didn't fall asleep during the first 15 minutes as I was about to.Nope, stayed awake through all the shitty beginning and got rewarded with a just as shitty movie as a whole.
12/10/2005 1:43:57 AM
I saw it tonight at Crossroads and it sucked mad donkey balls... PBS did a better job...
12/10/2005 1:51:13 AM
It wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't great. There were some very poor decisions that led to laughs where there shouldn't have been. The acting was pretty poor, but that's what you get with kids. Dawn French as Mrs. Beaver was nice.I much prefer the BBC version, even though it was a bit cheesy due to budget constraints among other things.[Edited on December 10, 2005 at 1:54 AM. Reason : d]
12/10/2005 1:53:42 AM
are you fucking kidding me? this movie was fucking awesome.
12/10/2005 6:13:35 AM
it got like a 76 on rotten tomatoes
12/10/2005 9:09:58 AM
Saw it last night. Was alright. And to those who can't see the Christian imagery - you are retarded.
12/10/2005 10:21:15 AM
it was fucking awesome~ I read it when i was like 10. Movie made me remember. Can't wait for next movie..
12/10/2005 10:43:01 AM
I think my favorite book was the Voyage of the Dawn Treader or the Last Battle. Both were totally sweet.
12/10/2005 11:26:57 AM
And by totally sweet, I mean awesome. Like one time, Mr. Tumnus dropped a spoon and Aslan flipped out and killed the whole town.
12/10/2005 11:42:55 AM
I liked the movie. It made me feel all happy when i left. I wish i still had an imagination like i did when i was a kid. There were a lot of things that were very "magical" about it.
12/10/2005 1:25:26 PM
The movie was amazing.
12/10/2005 1:31:18 PM
I thought it was fucking horrible. I walked out about 20 minutes before the end.
12/10/2005 5:33:31 PM
I swear if it weren't a Disney movie the little girl and that goat would have been making out by the end of the credits.
12/10/2005 6:20:15 PM
great movie...
12/10/2005 7:01:38 PM
Great....AT SUCKING!!!OMG I AM TEH CLEVAR
12/10/2005 7:46:07 PM
Ill be seeing this tonight. I remember loving the books when I younger so ive forgotten all the little details about the plot etc. My favorite of the series was the magicians nephew and seeing the real beginning of the story.
12/10/2005 7:56:15 PM
This movie has some of the worst CGI I've seen in theaters. When you've got CGI water and it looks bad, you know you've fucked up terribly and someone should lose their job.
12/10/2005 9:45:15 PM
CGI water isn't an easy think to master.[Edited on December 10, 2005 at 11:39 PM. Reason : You shouldn't screw up CGI air though]
12/10/2005 11:38:45 PM
I give it a -2 out of 10
12/10/2005 11:45:24 PM
Worst movie ive ever seen in my life, it started off so slow and was dragged outThe acting was sub-par for sureHalf the people in the thearter at crossroads were walkin out 2hrs into the movie, at least the one i was in...
12/10/2005 11:56:06 PM
12/11/2005 12:13:22 AM
I saw this movie today.Wow, my life must suck
12/11/2005 12:36:08 AM
it's hard to tell a good story without tensioncool special effects, but watching this movie was like watching someone play zelda on the easiest level with infinite lives and cheat codes.
12/11/2005 1:15:47 AM
i probably wont see this. i never liked the books, and I think C.S. Lewis is extremely overrated and doesn't deserve any more praise from the church than Leo Tolstoy, who I'd say deserves alot more than C.S. Lewis. But that's a theology argument that I save for real life, not the intArwebs.
12/11/2005 2:06:30 AM
did you read mere Christianity, screwtape letters, or the great divorce?
12/11/2005 2:17:28 AM
saw it tonight, i thought it was pretty good. and grown up lucy could get it
12/11/2005 2:33:46 AM
mere christianityit doesnt stack up to The Kingdom of God Is Inside You, imo.
12/11/2005 2:34:19 AM
yea thats great too. the great divorce was an interesting book and might be my favorite of lewis'
12/11/2005 2:45:59 AM
I'm sitting here, absolutely dumbfounded about how anyone could have liked that movie. There are a decent amount of movies I don't like much, but I can understand why others might like them.I'm am beyond lost on this one though.
12/11/2005 2:49:37 AM
im really sad cuz i loved that book as well as all the others and it doesnt sound like the movie was good at all
12/11/2005 2:51:38 AM
i thoroughly enjoyed the movie.i can see why people would see flaws in it, as the CGI wasn't spectacular, and there was alot of christian overtones mixed with cheesiness that some could find to be ridiculous or just over the top depending on who they are and what they believe... which is fine, not every movie is going to be someone's cup of tea.however i got lost in it; became enamored with it. whoever up there said it was like feeling like a kid again was right. i loved the Father Christmas scene, and the final battle was really exciting with the mix of real and mythical animals going head to head.
12/11/2005 3:12:13 AM
not specifically relating to what you said, but i saw on another message board where people were complaining that Disney put a Christian overtone on it and i quickly reminded them that the books were blatantly laced with Christian themes so they shouldnt be surprised.ill still have to see this for myself sometime
12/11/2005 3:17:05 AM
The overtones seemed more heavyhanded to me than they did when I watched the BBC film or read the books, but I might've been more oblivious to them than I remember.
12/11/2005 3:19:34 AM
yea i havent seen the movie yet so ill have to wait to comment on if they are more out front or not
12/11/2005 3:52:04 AM
This film should be full of "overtones." If the message of this film wasn't blatant, I would have been upset.Lewis himself said I don't say. 'Let us represent Christ as Aslan.' I say, 'Supposing there was a world like Narnia, and supposing, like ours, it needed redemption, let us imagine what sort of Incarnation and Passion and Resurrection Christ would have there.'I've seen people complain about the sacrifice scene, saying it was unneeded, too long, etc. The whole book's purpose is the sacrifice scene. You can't have a book about the Lion of Judah, make it into a movie and take out all the religious aspects. It would be rubbish.I wonder how many people only disliked the movie because of the religious themes.[Edited on December 11, 2005 at 9:35 AM. Reason : html]
12/11/2005 9:34:53 AM
Being a ridiculously thin christian allegy was one of the many reasons I hated it, yes.
12/11/2005 10:38:35 AM
^ We know you didn't like it. Repeating it 50 times dosent change anyones opinion. I will probably go see it this weekend.[Edited on December 11, 2005 at 11:01 AM. Reason : .]
12/11/2005 10:58:42 AM
I think some of ya'll are just too hard to please :X. I got so distracted by the story I paid no attention at all to the "bad cgi" just dont look for it and you wont see it.for the record I thought it was awesome.[Edited on December 11, 2005 at 11:33 AM. Reason : .]
12/11/2005 11:27:51 AM
What story? The world the film takes place in is about as shallow as they come.
12/11/2005 11:42:28 AM
and surprisingly ... still noone cares that you didnt like it.
12/11/2005 11:43:08 AM
I'm sorry, I thought this was a DISCUSSION board.
