^sure you can, as long as your loyalties have basis and you have precedent on who you would pick if they play each other. but lets not get into that in this thread...

Friendly Confines = 2 Ws for the Cubs, 1W for the Sox.

Sox win Friday, but the Cubs storm back with Zambrano and Prior to pull out the series on Sat, Sun.

For once, the Cubs Bullpen holds up!

Man, I wish I was in Chicago for this one...

Good job Ozzie on the contract extension

but you did horrible in managing today's game. when you have a closer that's been as good as Hermanson this year, bring him in with the lead in the ninth. instead, Marte blows it and now you will lose one after leading the whole way. very bad decisions today.

Wow, ok, you got lucky and you scored 2 in the ninth to win it but that was still spotty managing.

^^ Ozzie has a flair for the dramatic

he kept Dustin in the bullpen just to make things interesting.

Yea but now you bring Dustin in for mop-up work in a game you're losing just to get him some work and he gets hit for the first time this year. This can affect Hermanson's mentality big time and I wouldn't be surprised if he struggles from now on. You gotta give your closer all save opps just to give him that confidence.

i can't believe we're 10 games up on the Twins all of a sudden

this really could be a 110+ win season

we should have 60 wins by the All Star break

No offense to Halladay and Garland but Buehrle should get the All-Star nod as the starter. 10-1, only loss coming against Johan Santana, with a 2.42 ERA and WHIP right around 1.00. But most importantly, he's been solid EVERY outing, recording a ridiculous amount of straight quality starts (more than 30 in a row) and leading the Sox to the best record in baseball.

why wasn't Hermanson brought in? maybe he's trying to get Takatsu's confidence back. they're going to need him down the stretch. i still would've used Hermanson though.

Nope, I dont think so. I just dont like Takatsu that much but I'm glad he got through it and won the game. I just think Ozzie should put his best pitcher out there when it counts, and in save opps this year, Hermanson has been his best pitcher and the reason he's the closer. Nothing short of working three or four nights in a row should keep a closer from closing games especially one that has been as good as Hermanson. You think Rivera or Gagne wouldn't have been pitching in that situation? Closing is a mentality and based upon confidence, but you don't give your closer any confidence when you bypass him. That's why closing by committee never works. I just rather see Hermanson with the lead and three outs to go than anyone else.
