Just a friendly warning. Don't get your hopes up too high.Go back and watch the teasers trailers for PHANTOM and ATTACK, they were both pretty incredible in their own right. Even after seeing how much those movies sucked, the trailers still look exciting.
11/4/2004 10:13:33 PM
what ticked me off is that after watching so many of the trailers and previews for AOTC, i didn't see anything new in the movie. i felt like i had seen it all. so besides this one, i'm going to stay away from the rest of the trailers.
11/4/2004 10:37:18 PM

11/4/2004 10:37:57 PM

11/5/2004 1:57:20 AM
i believe the volcanic area is wherewait nevermind that's a big spoilerbut i can admit it's fairly important in the overall transition between the trilogies.

its got chewy, therefore has the most potential out of all three new ones
11/5/2004 2:23:51 AM
special effects and fighting do not a great movie make. repeat this to yourselves, people. The things that really made the first trilogy great are 1. imaginative universe2. groundbreaking effects3. the excellent acting and chemistry between all major and minor cast members.episode 1 and 2 maybe had some of 1, but nothing close to the other two points. reality check will hit us in the theater; lucas simply has lost the touch.[Edited on November 5, 2004 at 2:42 AM. 11/5/2004 2:42:12 AM
ummspecial effects made the first trilogy what it iswithout the special effects, these movies would not be made today
11/5/2004 3:14:06 AM
^^Having the first fully CGI character with an unprecedented level of interaction with the actors is groundbreaking, even if he was pretty much the worst character ever.I wouldn't call the acting excellent in the first trilogy. Good, yes, excellent, ummm, nah.

Looks awesome to me. But I liked I & II, so what do I know?
11/5/2004 8:35:56 AM
I liked I and II as well, but nowhere near as much as IV, V, and VI
11/5/2004 9:39:07 AM
You know....the whole Darth Vader changeover is kinda silly lookin'. With what our present day concepts of futuristic and all are "Darth Vader" looks dated and almost silly. IMHO anyway. Decent trailer though, but I probably won't waste money on the movie in theaters

Star Wars isn't meant to look futuristic, just alien. It's set in a time and place far removed from our own, actually in the past.[Edited on November 5, 2004 at 9:57 AM. Reason : ...]

I beg to differ...but I was never a star wars fan more that I am a LOTR fan. I lean in the fantasy direction

He just needs to jump up in that lava and start wasting fools
11/5/2004 9:56:45 AM
Some societies in the Star Wars universe have developed techonologies that appear futuristic to us, but many if not most of them are primitive compared to ours, such as the Massassi, Noghri, Ewoks, etc.P.S. STAR WARS IS FANTASY YOU FOOL

I would say Star Wars is Scifi/fantasy but lets be honest here, its really the story of the first one that made it great.A solid execution of good vs evil with cool toys thrown in.
11/5/2004 10:16:02 AM
Science fiction implies that a given scientific phenomenon is the basis for the story. Can you name any central plot device of Star Wars that qualifies, or cite any instances wherein the fictitious technology is discussed/elaborated upon? No, you can't. Lightsabers could just as easily be magic swords, starships could just as easily be nautical craft, Gamorreans could just as easily be orcs, etc. Star Wars is solid fantasy, and while the magic (the Force) exists alongside fantastic technology, that doesn't make it science fiction.

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....and who's to say there wasn't a time when things were more advanced than they are nowjust like the people of Atlantis had complicated computers and shit that we don't know about
11/5/2004 12:41:42 PM
The Death Star is a central plot device, but it's simply a fantastic weapon, much like the One Ring. You don't hear anyone in the trilogy talking about how it's kind of like a Dyson sphere or anything else remotely sci-fi. The science isn't explored at all.Same goes for the Millennium Falcon. Sure, Solo mentions that it's fast, but it may as well be a boat for as much as any of the films elaborate on what principles are behind its operation. Science fiction is concerned with the implications of technology, and that is definitely not the theme of the Star Wars saga.
