Couple interesting bits from the scout.com chat.:

Quote :
"We are expecting a decision from Amile Jefferson very soon. In fact, he could very well make his choice today. He got back from his official visit from Stanford yesterday. The others involved are N.C. State, Kentucky, Connecticut, Maryland and Ohio State. N.C. State is the school getting the most buzz. His plan is to announce and sign in the early period. (ED) "

Quote :
"Andrew White's recruitment has been an interesting one to say the least. He took four official visits -- Kansas, Texas, Louisville and West Virginia. WVU and Louisville have recently dropped out. Richmond and Virginia Tech are two school to keep an eye on and N.C. State is involved as well. This has been a tough recruitment to follow. I think there's a good chance he commits and signs by Wednesday, if he doesn't I expect a decision soon after."

Is there really a chance we end up with White? Our backcourt would be loaded.

Here's some kool-aid for you to drink. Spoke with my dad last week after he had a meeting with the chancellor (dad is a department head at State). Without asking, mostly because he could care less (my dad that is) Chancellor Woodson said that they expected Jefferson to announce he was coming here very soon. This was Wednesday or Thursday of last week and I was skeptical to post anything, but things seem to be heading in the right direction. Just passing along what I heard...

^^I didn't realize the Chancellor would know/care about basketball recruits...unless Woodson is just a big fan or something.

I call BS

the chancellor doesnt get involved in Athletic recruiting that much.

he has even said in the past that if it was his call he'd do away with being involved in sports all together but the $$$ is the reason he stays in it.

Meyer: You have to take notice of the job Mark Gottfried is doing at North Carolina State. Sure, Gottfried developed a reputation as a strong recruiter while coaching his alma mater Alabama. But in his first year in a new conference, he has hauled in the No. 4 recruiting class in the country with the potential of it moving all the way to No. 1 if he can land Amile Jefferson and/or Andrew White."

thus the reasons I don't post on this site. I guess when Woodson spent the entire day with Yow, Gottfried and TJ Warren and also spent time with Jefferson the first time he came to campus in August he didn't care about athletics then either?

Lol you think he spent the whole day doing that? He has 30k students to worry with and he spent all day with one potential student?

Woodson probably said hey and peace out. I know he prefers academics over sports.

Why wouldn't Woodson care about athletics? A good athletics dept. brings in more money and helps in promoting the university.

I recall an interview with Woodson last year, while he was visiting the football team during a pre-season practice, and he was talking about how important athletics were to the university.

^^ I'd like to know what he's basing that on then.

Here a real quote from Chancellor Woodson regarding athletics

Quote :
"As I have said publicly and frequently, I am a huge fan of college athletics. On a personal level, I enjoy the environment and enthusiasm that the alums and others have for the university, in many cases because of athletics. It is a big part of the brand for the university. It is something that has the potential to help attract great students and keep alumni coming back to NC State."

http://www.gopack.com/genrel/042210aaa.html

Jefferson even had some great things to say about him after his unofficial visit

Quote :
""The Chancellor was also amazing. I didn't realize he was that young. You can tell he had great energy and was so supportive of the basketball team at a school like that. They didn't really have to say anything about their love for the game, you can just tell.""

"Amile Jefferson, the last of UK's 2012 targets who is expected to make his decision this fall, has wrapped up his official visits and is focused on his decision.

Jefferson is a 6'8" power forward, and expected to be a 2-3 year college player.

Amile was at Stanford this weekend and watched as their football team lost handily to Oregon.

The #20 prospect overall, Jefferson is widely considered to be a NC State lean, and is expected to decide sometime this week."

Lorenzo Brown commits!

Quote :
"NC State’s Basketball program received an important commitment from a key member of the high school class of 2009 when Lorenzo Brown, a 6-4 175 pound a combo guard from Alpharetta (GA) Centennial ended months of speculation and provided the Wolfpack a verbal commitment on Sunday."

Rivals insider:
Quote :
"Things certainly could have changed, but I was given some info last Monday that NC State would be receiving some good news regarding AJ most likely Tuesday or Wednesday. I have heard nothing to cause me to change what I was told 7 days ago regarding his decision.
"

also- apparently Amile is going to the Villanova game tonight...some are speculating Villanova with a late push

just passing things along as i see them

**apparently he will NOT be announcing his decision by tomorrow, per his HS coach***

i say if Andrew White or Torian Graham were to show interest in committing now, we'd have to pull the trigger and not hold the scholly for Amile.

This isn't good for our chances. Thought for sure he'd have us locked in and ready to commit...
