What a dumbass website that is. Gottfried is an overrated recruiter and Purvis is overrated, yet somehow Gottfried got the best "first recruit" and we have the best backcourt. Are they just randomly drawing shit out of a hat or something?

Pronounce it like "Emily" except with a long "aaahhhh" to begin.

It's french.

Remember when everyone was saying that Kendall Marshall was overrated. Yeah well that could be a similar situation to Purvis with some of these clowns predictions

People thought Kendall was overrated because he didn't have great athleticism and wasn't much of a scorer. What they underestimated was how good of a PG he was...his great vision, passing ability, and instincts for the game.

Purvis is a great athlete and is physically ready for the collegiate level. But he doesn't have a great shot and he'll face similar athletes in college. I can see why they say he's overrated. Let's just hope he keeps improving and rises to the occasion at State.

^ if kendall was NOT athletic coming out of high school based on scouting reports then steal the tar hole strength and conditioning development manual for bball because that kid was quick and fast as hell in the games i watched.

once again, the "athletic" argument arises.

i think when lots of people say "athletic", they mean the kid is stronger than most of his peers and can jump high and throw-down highlight dunks.

Exactly. People still rave about what an athletic freak Courtney Fells was, despite his inability to move latterally without tripping over his feet. Not a good trait for a guard....

He's a fucking snail compared to Lawson/Felton. He's fast enough...but he's not going to wow anyone with his athletic ability.

^that's not a huge leap. Marshall has average speed for a point. Felton and Lawson were two of the fastest point guards I've seen. Ever.

"Since I committed to North Carolina State things have been so crazy. The whole city of Raleigh, N.C. has really gotten behind me and supported me even more than they had been before. And I had a lot of support anyway.

I’m definitely seeing a lot more N.C. State paraphernalia on cars now, so that’s really cool. I’ve gotten even closer with the coaches and players that are there now and the fans too.

The fans are pretty crazy, I love them. They’ve got a group of fans that they call the “Purv-erts.”

I went to the scrimmage game the other night and a guy came up to me and pointed to a section in the arena and said that was where the Purv-erts are gonna sit. It was pretty funny.

The fans will have a lot to cheer about because we’re bringing in a great class. ESPN has our class ranked No. 2 right now with me, Tyler Lewis and T.J. Warren. I hope that we can get Amile Jefferson too. I’ve been working pretty hard on him. He was at N.C. State last weekend and I feel like he had a good time so we’ll see. "

^nah, it was still sad a week ago.

actually, the fact that someone thought it was cool to go up to him at a game and tell him where the purv-erts would be sitting is lightweight creepy. it might have been funny for the first couple of days when he first acknowledged it on twitter, but y'all gotta give that shit a rest now.

I forgort, since Dave Telep left Scout the bball recruiting has gone downhill.

better page and more up-to-date. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/67795/amile-jefferson

I wonder how Jefferson's OV @ Stanford went as Oregon beat them soundly 53-30.
He has to be impressed with Gottfried's team's performance.

Well, maybe, kinda. I think that beating UNC during AJ's visit surely made the atmosphere much more positive. Half the people who showed up for the R/W scrimmage probably wouldn't have come if we'd have lost the football game. But in no way am i saying that he won't be choosing Stanford because they lost their football game.

We might be hearing some news this week: http://www.zagsblog.com/2011/11/13/jefferson-back-from-stanford-visit/
