So you're saying he should average around 9.4 RPG? So you're saying he should be 2nd in the ACC in rebounds? lol, Keep being you, boozie.
2/10/2022 1:59:16 PM
Yes he absolutely should. Our point-forward has to average 9 because the bigs don't rebound.
2/10/2022 2:07:03 PM
Boozie thinks rebounding doesn't take talent good to know
2/10/2022 2:07:24 PM
LOL whatever I'm not going to sit here and argue anymore with a bunch of fucks who couldn't make a JV squad. He's 6'11 230 and averages 4.4 rebounds as a starting Center. That wouldn't cut it in DII.
2/10/2022 2:09:34 PM
^^^LOL. Yes, our sophomore, raw, back-up center should be leading the ACC in rebounds (and that doesn't take talent)[Edited on February 10, 2022 at 2:10 PM. Reason : ^whoa, easy there tough-guy]
2/10/2022 2:10:12 PM
He's started all but 3 games this year. Raw, sophomore, blah blah, he's the fucking starter. And who would start this year if Bates had transferred?Who starts at Center next year? Fuck right off
2/10/2022 2:12:16 PM
The statement that rebounding doesn't take talent is mind blowing, I can't get over it.
2/10/2022 2:31:01 PM
It actually isn't. Rebounding is about positioning, boxing out, technique, and instincts. Take Rich Howell, a 6'6 undersized PF. He averaged 11 a game as a senior. It had nothing to do with talent.

Good to see positive news in regards to a stat this season!
2/15/2022 11:16:53 PM
I wish Keatts wasn’t a liar, he is not a winner. DFL in the weakest ACC in years. This is getting real bad.
2/23/2022 10:49:29 PM
What does everyone think? I guess he can have another year but getting pretty apathetic about our team at this point with Keatts in charge. Maybe be can pull a rabbit out of a hat next season??
2/26/2022 11:04:49 PM
I'm fine with giving him another year. I was pretty fed up with Doeren after underperforming in 2018 and then shutting the bed the next year, but that's worked out ok.
2/26/2022 11:13:36 PM
It sounds like he’s getting another year. And I’m fine with it. Feels like some major changes are needed. Don’t know what the roster will look like next year and I’d imagine the staff has some changes too. Maybe I’m out of touch a bit, but it doesn’t feel like there are obvious candidates out there like there have been in the past either. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a good coach out there that we could get, but it doesn’t feel as obvious as the post-Gott search. Or even the post-Lowe search…which obviously didn’t work out ideally, but there were some obvious candidates to emerge that ultimately turned us down.
2/27/2022 6:53:10 AM
Just like with Doeren, I feel like every game next year will be a referendum on whether he should be fired or not (assuming he is back). Which is kinda annoying as a fan, and a lot of pressure as a coach...even if we’re good next year, his job status will still be a constant debate. I guess at least if we suck, there won’t be as much debate…it’ll at least be unanimousJustin bringing up Doeren is probably pretty accurate. If Keatts actually does turn it around, there will likely be a segment of the fan base that never comes back around on him and will always want to move on. A season like this is hard to come back from.
2/27/2022 8:48:15 AM
Unless Keatts works a miracle on the transfer market, we are gonna be worse next year than this one considering it’s unlikely the ACC has a worse year than this one. Even if Keatts manages to keep Bates AND Seabron around, we are still losing a big part of our scoring in Cole. You are effectively just replacing Cole with Bates in terms of impact players. That’s a marginal improvement IMO (trade off offense for defense) part of the reason why it’s better to rip the bandaid off now. That may be a bit unfair given the injuries and NCAA stuff but I just don’t see a turnaround in the works next year.[Edited on February 27, 2022 at 12:03 PM. Reason : D]

^ I am not particularly optimistic about next season either, but I don’t think it’s quite that simple (re: Bates = Hellems in terms of production). Bates is far more efficient than Hellems. Bates won’t have any 3/14 nights from the field. He can get his 12 points on far fewer attempts. Bates’ position on the court makes our offense run better since we can actually use the pick and roll effectively. It’s hard comparison to make since they’re different positions, but I don’t think it’s a drop off for offensive production. Hellems averages 13, I expect Bates to be right around 12-13 too. Obviously the way they get their points is very different. But Bates can open up the offense and allow for more pick and roll action. Defensively getting Bates back would be a huge boost. Hopefully Gantt can get healthy and help out at the 4…where Hellems has always been undersized defensively. I don’t expect Gantt to provide much offensively. Next year you’d also have Baby T a year older and further along in development. Same goes for Ross. I’d also probably expect a transfer or two out and a transfer or two in…that’s where we really need an impact guy, hopefully a PG. But all this is moot if Bates and Seabron aren’t back. Then we’ll need to bring in up to 4 transfers imo and totally remake the roster…which might not be the worst thing.[Edited on February 27, 2022 at 12:30 PM. Reason : A]

What you just described is a complete assistant coach and player overhaul in a years time.Unfortunately keatts gets another year, but, that won't amount to much. It's going to be another big fail.Without some significant transfers and signings, it's another DFL placing.
2/27/2022 8:51:28 PM
I mean, In college basketball a “complete” player overhaul of brining in 3-4 transfers in one off-season isn’t exactly unheard of.
2/28/2022 6:33:11 AM
Yeah, he's really struck gold so far with those transfers in....
2/28/2022 6:39:52 PM
Right, I agree that it’s been a major downfall. I’m just trying to lay out a path for a semi-successful 2022-23 season. I’m not even advocating for giving him another year. But it seems like he’s getting another year regardless. I was just trying to show what it would take for anybody to feel optimistic about next year. Year 1 transfers were good. Al Freeman, Bryce, Daniels (Sam Hunt was meh). Beyond that it’s been pretty bad though.

There are some twitter rumors that Dillingham may reclass and be here in the fall. I'm not holding my breath. If it is true, then it seems likely that Cam or Pass transfers--obviously the hope would be neither and that Cam figures out his shot in the off-season. I'd love to see the new Seabron as an option rather than primary ball handler. I like him driving to the basket, but he is not a facilitator. Then if you keep Bates too, that might actually look like a team. Dill™, Terq, Morsell, Seabron, and Bates with Pass, Ross, Gantt and 1 or 2 quality wing transfers coming off the bench is a hopeful squad.Of course that hinges on keeping Seabron and Bates which doesn't seem likely.
3/1/2022 9:48:52 AM
Seabron is a better facilitator than Hayes.

If I'm not mistaken, both Kayla Jones and Kai Crutchfield participated in senior day last year and both came back.Of course they also didn't publicly contemplate transferring to Georgetown either.

3/2/2022 4:24:53 PM
It is games like this that makes Keatts comments about being a top 30 team if Bates wasn’t hurt laughable.
3/2/2022 11:09:39 PM
I read in that article that we are going for a record this weekend. First time to lose 20 games in program history…
3/2/2022 11:16:18 PM
The only way we don't hit 20 losses is if we beat FSU and then win the national championship. NBD

Ok Keatts, don’t let that train wreck happen again.
3/8/2022 11:03:24 PM
didn't watch the end of the game or really much of the game. did we quit with 30 sec left down 6?

yes.

Worst Season in School history-21 credibility
3/9/2022 10:31:49 AM
We were down 8 with 30 seconds left. Hellems missed a shot, Baby T rebounded it and put it back to make it a 6 point game with 22 seconds left. We then didn’t foul on their inbounds. So 22 seconds left is when we threw in the towel.
3/9/2022 10:42:57 AM
It's a good thing I decided not to get as emotionally invested in the team's performance this year, and consciously decided not to watch a lot of the games in the second-half of the season. Otherwise I'd be pretty upset.
